20% Off Brat & Suzie

Brat & Suzie is a bright and quirky new British label that uniquely specialises in animal illustrated T-shirts and vests. However don’t expect an old Granny knocking out dodgy drawings of her menagerie, B&S is a collaboration between snazzy Designer Polly Vickery and Illustrator Louise Boulter. Two fun loving girls with a passion for fun and living the high life. Their hand printed and original designs come with a razor sharp fashion edge, humorous, whimsical even, and always with an animal theme, their stylish collection has already caught the eye of London’s trendsetters.

Last Night Brat and Suzie showcased their animal tees and vests at the fabulous Sex and the City Fashion and Beauty Event at the ultra trendy Anise Bar in Cinnamon Kitchen. Hosting their stall alongside some of London’s most cutting edge beauty and fashion brands, they showcases the collection offering a 20% discount on the night. The t-shirts flew off the shelves, almost no one their could resist the charms of their pirate cats, swimming Dachshunds and Burglar Rats. To celebrate their success Brat & Suzie are offering their online shoppers the very same saving!

Enter SATC at the checkout to claim your 20% off!

The tie-in was a slick piece of PR, it virtually guarantees that Brat & Suzie have ‘marked their territory’ and captured a healthy slice of the stylish London city girl market. The tees make up a collection that is both eccentric and  idiosyncratic, undeniably British in humour and style, it’s nice to see a t-shirt brand bringing back a bit of glamour into the business! Their mix and match approach to colour, with a bold toned palette and classic neutrals, the new collection spans everything from essential neons and nautical inspired stripes – to ‘go-with-everything’ white and grey mélange tees. Adaptable, stylish, and great fun for girls, whether it’s for a posh do or just a little bit of fun with friends.

The Sun Always Shines on LadyUmbrella

LadyUmbrella Art Shirts For WomenFor those of the female persuasion we have a real treat for you, a feature on LadyUmbrella, an art t-shirt company based in Ireland, and fuelled by the creative powerhouse that is the Spanish designer Elena Montes Casado. In fact it was her experience of arriving in rainy Dublin directly from the hot and spicy climate of her home in Madrid that prompted her to think of the name. I saw lots of people with umbrellas and couldn’t really see peoples faces and from that I got the idea…”. Casado’s love of animals also shows through in a lot of her work, birds and beasts of all kinds appear in her art, in her own words “I can’t imagine her talking to human beings so instead she has lots of feathered friends (for now).”

LadyUmbrella is an immediately recognisable character for one very obvious reason, she has an umbrella for a head, don’t laugh, it’s poetic or symbolic or something…

LadyUmbrella is away with the birds

I love the style, it reminds me of animation I used to watch growing up as a kid in Britain, it was so gentle and delicate then, a world away from the slick CGI of nowadays. Dreamy, that’s the word, something along the lines of Crystal Tipps meets the original Moomins.

LU launched their online t-shirt store on the 20th of January 2010 and have created a lovely site and store, and of course collection. The whole feel of the brand is light, slightly dreamy and very delicate, something rare in the world of t-shirt art. So… if you’re ready to meet LadyUmbrella read on! read more

Navel Gazing With Big Fluff

Big Fluff London Urban WearBig Fluff have some big ideas which are perfectly transformed into hand printed high quality t-shirts for the connoisseur t-shirt aficionado. You can really tell that BF thinks long and hard about its concepts and performs the same due care and attention when it comes to the production of their high quality urban wear. Amongst their range of tees, tops, sweaters, hoodies and dresses are some superb large scale prints, many of which could as easily transfer to wall art if they chose to do so.

Using a simple, bold and effective stencil style, everyone of Big Fluff’s concepts are designed to make an immediate and long-standing impact on the wearer and those around them. What hits you first about their range is the generously proportioned size of their prints, almost all completely cover the front of their tees, I’d love to see them venture into all-over printing in the future as their ideas certainly lend themselves to an even greater artistic expression.

I’m not particularly keen on the store design, it doesn’t really do justice to the quality of their collection (although this could be very easily remedied), I’d rather be free to focus purely on the products in a plain and simple (even sparse) shop layout. I’d also like to see a little more customer interaction (although they do have a newsletter that seems a little “old hat” for such a vibrant company), perhaps a blog or a mere link to a Twitter account can do wonders! Nevertheless Big Fluff as a label are seriously going from strength to strength, based in London, their hand printed, coloured and finished tees are sold across Britain and the world both on-line and off-line, including the highly successful fashion catalogue firm ASOS and as it happens my GF Christina’s eye has been caught by their offerings as she’s a fan of ASOS herself. They’ve even been featured in Heat Magazine a number of times, so we’re rather impressed that BF have chosen our little blog to review them!

Expect the highest quality t-shirts, they use sweatshop free and fairly traded garments which are produced to very high ethical and environmental specifications and only the highest quality 100% cotton t-shirts and organic t-shirts where specified – using ring spun combed cotton for a smooth, soft feel as the standard. What’s more all their products come with free delivery for the UK!

Gaze in to the navel of Big Fluff and experience a bold and adventurously surreal vision of the world! read more

Credit Crunch For Breakfast Anyone?

Death By Design Tees
Yes I know you’ve heard enough about the credit crunch by now but here’s a new t-shirt by Death by Design that’s guaranteed to brighten up that morning gloom. It’s called the Credit Crunch Cereal T-Shirt and is part of their new line of Credit Crunch Tees!

Before I dazzle and bathe you in a glorious sunshine yellow of their latest offering, here’s a little info about the UK t-shirt label Death by Design:-

1) They have a fantastic name, I mean, you have to admit Death By Design, you couldn’t get much better!

2) They’re based in Old Blighty in the heart of London in swanky Battersea so expect the poshest customer service :p

3) Their label was featured at The Clothes Show Live at Birmingham NEC last year – I remember a camp designer called Jeff Banks who always used to be on TV with that show? They also played a dodgy Pet Shop Boys track in the intro year on year, it was a bit like The London Marathon, until Digital TV you either watched it or turned the TV off. Still I am a fashion lout, don’t expect to meet me gawking by the catwalk any time soon, if I am there I am probably perving.

4) They offer a very funky and rather amusing blog which features all their new and most naughty t-shirts, so expect references to boobs, sex, and anything that could be related to a post-modernist tongue-in-cheek look at British life.

5) Their site design was overseen by the punk impresario Malcolm McClaren (Not really but it could have been ;)

6) All their t-shirts are available at a very reasonable £14.99, are made from soft 100% cotton and are even available wholesale. Their delivery rates are £3.95 for the UK, £5.95 for Europe and £8.95 for the USA.

7) They also design, print and sell tanks and hoodies (that’s tank tops not military hardware).

Right now for that elusive credit crunchy tee to cheer you up… read more

Do You Like The Taste Of Cotton? Cottonmouth.nl

Cottonmouth Dutch Fashion TeesHere’s a fascinating new label for the girls, a Netherlands fashion company called Cottonmouth have just released their first three limited edition t-shirts at their very very snazzy site Cottonmouth.nl. Founded by the original designers for another very popular Dutch tee label Sjeurt, they have expanded their horizons and ventured forth into the world of high female fashion, producing the best of the best quality tees for a discerningly artistic female market. Right now they have just three women’s t-shirts on offer but they’re well worth checking out, if only as a pointer for things to come. Expect stylish art shirts with an irreverent attitude to life, culture and style on the street. The store is available in Dutch and English and offers sweatshop free fashions (manufactured in USA and design, silkscreen printed tees and labels in the Netherlands), and all their orders are shipped in bio and recycled packaging, which is good to know.

Their first collection is entitled ‘MADemoiselle‘ and was inspired by the god of Pop Art Andy Warhol, yes I am a Warholian, a devotee of Andy’s work, (if you love Pop or Graffiti art, or any kind of contemporary graphic design you just can’t help it ;). Using portraits of women and girls of different decades on girly shirts Cottonmouth’s MADemoiselle them includes a scorcher of a tee, I love their take on Double Dutch – superbly designed and printed on a long comfortable T-shirt that features a stylish deeper plunged neck. Their experimentation with colours and cuts extends to Kiss me Cottonmouth, a tunic-dress that also doubles as a shirt and Fabulous Cottonmouth – a stylish long sleeved tee. All of their shirts are limited to just 20 pieces so if you’re female and want to wow your friends and acquaintances or just a stranger or two on the street I’d advice you rush over there now!

You can either order a tee at www.cottonmouth.nl or visit their store ‘KiBoCo’ in Bussum, the Netherlands. Whilst you’re at the site make sure to read up on all their latest info available at the Cottonmouth Community and stay informed about all their latest developments and designs

In case you’re living somewhere other than Holland their shipping costs are as follows:- The Netherlands: free shipping, Europe: ‚Ǩ 4,00 and outside Europe: ‚Ǩ12,50 which isn’t all that bad, although it would be nice if they encouraged a bulk deal, say buy three tees and offer free global shipping. or am I asking too much? Well actually it’s my gf who’s asking lol. Anyway let’s take a closer look at the MADemoiselle collection:- read more
