Thriving Ink Sale Now On!
August 27, 2008
I haven’t got around to fully reviewing Austin, Texas based urban clothing label Thriving Ink, but this seems like the perfect opportunity, especially as they are currently holding a sale on all their tees. Buy one and get one free at TI - the coupon code is CUST2 and it expires August 31st. Plus they offer free shipping (I’m guessing USA and Canada) for all orders over $50.
ThrivingInk.com seems to me, more like a community than a t-shirt label, even if you don’t fancy buying a t-shirt right this minute there’s plenty more to do at their site. Check out the artists section or keep updated on all the events they attend and organise. Their community section features plenty of places to see their machinations on the net, and gives you a chance to hook up with the people behind the label. Hook up at Myspace.com or Facebook.com or check out their videos at YouTube.com or you can keep up-to-date on all their latest exploits at their blog - well I say that but actually it seems a little neglected :/ Read more
Wave T-Shirt at Threadless
July 18, 2008
(Reader slaps hand against forehead in disbelief) I’m at it again, at Threadless, doing my thing, and what appears to be an extremely unpopular thing at that. I’ve taken quite a few knocks at Threadless.com - I’ve hardly gathered any support and I doubt I’m making friends there. My partner Christina wants to convince me there’s some kind of conspiracy going on there, and it’s all down to writing this blog.
I know it’s far less complicated than that, my designs just aren’t good enough to compete on the world stage, which is fine, I can live with that, or rather I can work with that. Avoid all-out puns wherever possible is my first advice, they don’t seem to appreciate much of that at Threadless, and if at all possible be an expert illustrator, which will probably take another 20 years in my case. Threadless.com is becoming an addiction for me, I’ve got it bad man, have you got a few votes you can spare me buddy? Read more

Amsterdamned @ DesignByHumans.com

I have finally had my Eggheads T-Shirt submission accepted at DesignByHumans.com - if you’d like to show some support come and vote for it here.
I had a very friendly exchange of emails with Taylor at DBH who reassured me that my style suited their site’s creative ethos to a tee, essentially the mistake I had made was nothing to do with the quality of my work but rather the placement of the images on their t-shirt template. My advice is the less coverage a design has over the spread of a shirt, the higher you should mount it. I notched my design up a few inches towards the armpits and resubmitted the design with a resounding success. I’ve even completed a second design - see the image below! Read more
Eggheads T-Shirt at Design By Humans
June 9, 2008
You see this is the fun bit, for both you and me (honest!), I’m a t-shirt designer and I run a t-shirt news and reviews blog, and so unlike mortal t-shirt reviewers, I can create and submit works and let you in on the process, success or failure, it’s all still useful information I’m sur
We’ll call Eggheads a tester, I’d just written about my fave tees at DesignByHumans.com last night; my eyes were bleary, my fingers trembling with the possible onset of RSI (fingers crossed ouch), a strong coffee by my MacBook and a strange vision in my head, banging at the insides of my eyes, pleading for the possibility of escape. It was an act of kindness (for my own sanity), yet looking at the design in the clear light of day, and with a clearer head, I have to admit, this is one twisted t-shirt design. Read more

Heather Corrina of Scarleteen.com is a t-shirt designer on a mission. Her latest t-shirt “I was Raped” has been featured on CNN and in the worldwide media at large. She is herself a rape victim and passionately feels that bringing her message to as large an audience as possible will increase awareness and reduce risk in modern society. Read more

Free T-Shirts!
Put your money away and grab some of these freebies!
I’ve collated a list of the latest t-shirt freebies, vouchers and coupons currently available on the net, take a look at the list below. If you have anymore links to contribute please post a comment and let us know! I’ve missed out any that seem to charge inflated postage or require subscription for the deal as to me that doesn’t really count, after all you don’t buy a car to get a free seat cover. If you do order one of these post yourself wearing it and give us all a laugh. Btw try and use a freebie email unless you want newsletters from all these sites in your inbox! Read more
American Pi T-Shirt…
May 20, 2008
At last a new Buy-Tees.net t-shirt! I’ve become so hooked on blogging and all it entails, plus with the debacle with SpreadShirt.net I’ve been forced to hold back on the tee shirt designs for a while, but even though it’s still being submitted to Spreadshirt (I’m hoping both sites will accept this one!), I’ve made sure you can buy it from both CafePress.com and RedBubble.com - the screen-printed versions should be available soon (fingers crossed :p)

Smurfs Attack - Old School Toon Tee Shirt
May 17, 2008
May 17, 2008
This is Smurfs Attack available at SplitReason.com
Split Reason has been around since 2003, however they seem to have steered more and more towards the tried and tested popularity vote system you can find at Threadless and many other similar t-shirt designer sites. (I have a problem as a designer with this format - it seems rely on a more throwaway attitude towards new designers - popularity is viral, not dependent on the votes of competitors and anonymous surfers - oh well - my five cents.) Darfur T-Shirt Versus Louis Vuitton
May 9, 2008
Have you heard of Nadia Plesner? She is running a near one-woman campaign to raise awareness and charitable contributions for the Darfur situation. She’s an art student, she’s 26, and she doesn’t have the legal clout that a worldwide fashion brand can afford. The point is Nadia is selling her t-shirts at no profit, all of the money she receives goes towards helping the people of Darfur. Yet Louis Vuitton don’t see it like that
Deep down I’m sure it’s more likely the potential damage to their branding their fretting about, the whole idea of the design is to focus our attention on the fripperies of modern life, the stark comparison between getting anything you want and dying for lack of what you need.
