Swish Swosh Sneak Peek Preview!

Swish Swosh British T-Shirt Contest StoreIn just under 24 hours SwishSwosh.com – a British t-shirt contest site will be officially opening their doors to the public, and just to stir up a little more excitement I thought it best to share the love and let you all see what’s around the corner from this exciting new store. What I can tell you is this, Swish Swosh will be offering all their t-shirts on pre-order at £12 each (£15 for winners), yes a Brit tee community at last, and they already have quite a few cool submissions under their wing, and that’s no surprise seeing as SS are offering a whopping great prize of £1100 for the first place winner plus 50p per t-shirt sold. The total in prizes is £2009, and with ten winning positions to fill I’m sure a lot of you budding t-shirt designers can see a chance for success here! Every runner up receives £101 plus 50p in commissions which should be enticing for the least adventurous, but if you haven’t submitted a tee you will probably have to submit for the next round. There has been so much demand that SS have actually been accepting votes in beta, and some of their tees are already in pre-order!

As their motto states ‘no more clones’ SS will be limiting prints to just 50 of each size per print so if you do fancy any of their winning tees (and hoodies) I’d hurry because I doubt they’ll be hanging around too long. Although this will be a monthly contest so if you do want to get in on the action you have a decent amount of time to get on board for the next round. Fancy submitting a design? Then submit your design here. They want cutting edge, drop dead gorgeous designs if you can muster them, and I’ll tell you why.

The two founders of SS (I’d give you more details but their meet the founders page simply states ‘be patient you nosey gits’ right now) decided to create SwishSwosh.com after running a heap of successful club events where they witnessed fashion atrocities that would send anyone barmy, not only in calibre but also quantity. Imagine turning up for a night out and bumping into half a dozen other clubbers wearing the same t-shirt as you? It’s not just sad, it’s a a sad indictment of the state of corporate fashion these days. The fact is that originality is king, and that’s what SS are all about, if you want originality they will try their damndest to provide it via an army of keen talent touting for your votes. Let’s check out how Old Blighty are fairing in the t-shirt contest war… read more

Brand Battle Royale

Always Urban Blog
Once again teemocracy is in full force effect at AlwaysUrbanBlog.com – come and join in the fun and vote for your fave t-shirt label in AUB’s latest brand battle! At present there are four t-shirt brands up against each other; Bad As Hell Clothing (who we’ve featured a few times at Buy Tees), Breathe On Apparel (who we’ve not come across before), Syditty Clothing (who offer a rather snazzy selection of designer women’s tees) and Someone Clothing (who we will definitely be featuring in the future!).

You don’t have to sign up to vote but AUB will need an email addy, of course they say it’s to make sure there’s only one vote per person but:-

If you had a 100 different emails you could probably cheat.
I.P address tracking is a far better way of preventing cheating.
It’s a sneaky way of building up their mailing list, still can’t blame them I suppose.

Anyway it’s a great chance for your favourite t-shirt brand to get a heap load of exposure, well I say that but looking at AUB’s traffic statistics right now they’d all get around ten times more with a review on our blog but hey, the more the merrier. (Yes I’m not being as kind as I could but I had a rough night last night hah).

So here are the rules:- By voting in the Brand Battle, you are opting into the AlwaysUrban.com email list. Expect results and a pile of other emails to boot in your inbox?

Vote For Your Favourite Brand
You must enter a valid email
You only get to vote once
Voting ends 03 / 16 / 09

So let’s take a look at the tees AUB featured to entice you to vote… read more

Teextile – A New T-Shirt Community

Teextile T-Shirt Community

WARNING: Teextile seem to be ripping off their customers and designers! Read our latest post http://buy-tees.net/2010/03/teextile-a-rip-off/

Teextile.com is a brand new t-shirt community site created by Franco Galvez. Even though the site has just got started there is definitely an inrush of high quality designs at Teextile, which to be honest on average takes a lot longer than mere weeks to build up, but somehow Franco has managed to create exactly the right environment to encourage the brightest and the best to his little corner of the Net.

Perhaps it’s because Franco is a desigber himself, born in Peru but im now living in San Diego this 20 year old graphic design student and professional told Buy-Tees he “started the site because to be honest its an awesome job, I’m not one for office work, dont really see myself strapping on a tie every day and going to work in a cubicle for 9 hours…”. I asked him why he’d started Teextile, he agreed that “perhaps there are too many of these type of sites already (t-shirt design voting sites such as Threadless.com) but as he states “there are so many awesome designs out there which aren’t being printed” Franco knew that the world could do with one more – and by the looks of it he’s right!

As the old saying goes, the proof is in the pudding, and there are plenty of servings to go round at Teextile, some of the tastiest shirt designs you’ll see in a long while, so come on and tuck in, because you can never have too many great tees. read more

Hendricks’ Happy Birthday Sale at CollarFree.com

Jimmys Birthday Sale at CollarFree.comJimmy Hendricks (perhaps one of the coolest names of all time) is celebrating his 28th birthday (oh to be youngish) by offering a whopping 28% off all tees, available at his fabulous t-shirt crowd sourcing site CollarFree.com. I’ve watched this company leap from strength to strength over the last year with a mix of fond admiration and a tinge of envy. If you’re going to run a successful t-shirt label, Collar Free offers a textbook story of achievement and expansion that’s sure to make any CEO raise an eyebrow. With a strong range of graphic tees, a faithful band of designers and fans, and a savvy technical and business team working all hours behind the scenes, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s as near to t-shirt nirvana as you can get.

First things first, happy birthday Jimmy, may your all your birthdays be celebrated with as much success if not more! It does make me wonder if Mr. Hendricks lives to a ripe old age will the discount climb with him? It’s a long time to wait, but I’m sure it’d be worth the wait to celebrate Jimmy’s centenary on the planet. Although I’m sure by then accounting department for his multi-million dollar global fashion corporation (yes – I’m sure it could be if we wait long enough), will be shaking their heads as they wheeled him to the retirement home. Back to the present, and despite the fact it’s his birthday, here’s Jimmy’s gift to all of you! Just pick what you like and punch in the code “28on28” at the checkout.

One Day Sale at BadAsHellClothing.com

Bad As Hell ClothingYou may remember my review of Bad As Hell Clothing (Divine Tees at Bad as Hell Clothing – July 30th 2008), one of the most hardcore crowd-sourcing t-shirt voting sites out there, well they’re holding a one day sale starting this Saturday 18th October!

All tshirts are reduced to 14.99, and all pre-orders are a measly 11.99 – they’re holding their one day side deal promotion in association with shirt.woot t-shirt community, so if youve been thinking about grabbing yourself one or more of BAHC’s radical tees, this is most probably the best time to get down there.

In case you’re still at a loss here’s a few examples of two of their most popular t-shirt designs and a couple of tees up for nomination right now. read more

Cameesa.com – Crowdfunding Fashion.

Cameesa.comHere’s a new crowdsourcing t-shirt site to add to the fold (the more the better) called Cameesa.com – however there seems to be one distinct advantage for Cameesa supporters (aka customers) compared to other grander operations like Threadless and DesignByHumans and that’s the fact that they actually reward them for their efforts.

Essentially for the first time fans and artists can be in business together. Each artist issues 50 ‘parts’ (shares) per design, parts cost $20 each which totals $1000 per t-shirt. Together, the artist’s supporters have to raise $1,000 to get the design of their choice fully supported. Each part earns the supporter 3 cents per sale, and each supporter receives a free limited edition t-shirt as part of the package.

The artist earns $500 for each fully-supported design, plus a free t-shirt and a whopping $2 per sale to top it off. read more

Top List of Threadless Clones aka T-Shirt Vote Sites

Yes it’s another list, it’s not just the fact that ‘top lists’ seem to rank so well on Google but that this one has been bugging me for a while. I’ve been looking for the perfect t-shirt voting site for ages, something that offers high prizes, fair rates and provides most of the publicity themselves. There isn’t one out there, I’ve seen so many of these sites relying on popular members rather than fantastic designers to boost their profile. Besides there are so many good t-shirt designers out there not getting the kudos they deserve, it seems to make more sense to set up your own t-shirt voting/fulfilment site rather than submit your designs, which probably explains why there are so many on this list! read more
