Alive and Kicking (and Jet Lagged)…

October 7, 2008

Back From Marrakech!Hey all you lovely t-shirt people, I am in shock, I’ve just got back from a week in Marrakech (yes we had a lovely time thanks) and the first thing I did after a quick cuppa (you know how us Brits like our tea) is switch on the old Macbook and look at my inbox which is heaving. It’s wonderful to be so missed, so appreciated, I’d never realised till now exactly how many people have cottoned on to my obscure little blog, it’s not the grandest of designs, or the greatest of concepts, but I enjoy it, and from what I’ve read it seems many of you out there feel the same. So, firstly thanks, thanks, and more thanks. Don’t worry, I haven’t had another funny turn if you’ve been left hanging out there in the world of t-shirts. Chris and I needed a little break away from the miserable weather here in the UK and Marrakech was the closest, sunniest hotspot we could afford, besides it gave us both a chance to practice our haggling skills, and our School French or what remains of it, hardly Franglais these days, but still funny how much you remember when you’re thrown in the deep end.

The Top T-Shirt Reviews Blogs - Listed by Popularity!

June 30, 2008

After the last review I thought I’d better make a deeper trawl of the Internet and see what else I could come up with and you wouldn’t believe all the t-shirt review sites out there now, you could honestly surf from one t-shirt reviews blog to the next constantly for at least most of the week, although if you do fancy doing that - I would consider see a psychologist as soon as possible :p

I’ve found an incredible list of t-shirt related blogs and sites at HideYourArms.com - and I promised them a mention as they’ve put a lot of hard work in researching the finds - however they mainly focus on hoodies rather than tees so they can’t really be included here :p Then again I probably started this craze with my original t-shirt reviewer sites review (compare the dates) - so I think it’s only fair! Plus Andy hasn’t included any traffic information or listed the blogs by popularity so it needs to be done! If you have any additions worth mentioning contact me at submissions(at)buy-tees.net

I’m about to embark on a potential novella here, knowing my style of reviews, get ready for the absolutely definitive list of t-shirt reviewers. By the way I commented at HYA on not mentioning my blog, Andy hadn’t included Buy Tees which was kind of worrying since he’d managed to find loads of them already! Ah well, perhaps I will get some reward for my efforts in the next life!

All information is correct at time of writing, add your comments if you have new links or info on the current ones.

All the top t-shirt review blogs placed in order of popularity!

(Yes I know Alexa isn’t that accurate and the figures will fluctuate, but at least it is well known and gives some idea of web traffic.)

Honesty by GrandBuro Featured at Tcritic.com

Tcritic - is the biggest and most popular t-shirt reviews blog in the world. A very large following, great layout and design, good choices of t-shirts, labels and designers and a succinct editorial style. This site has convinced me I need to do a major redesign of my blog in the near future! Anyway loved the Honesty T-Shirt design available at GRANDBÜRO.

Kate Beckinsale wearing a Beatles T-shirt - Yawn

Tshirt Watch This has to be one of the most famous t-shirt review blogs on the net, Then again it could be because they feature so many celebrity tees, celebs in t-shirts, t-shirts about celebs, you know famous people, oh yes and their t-shirts. Celebrity has a magnetic effect on search engine rankings, if you can associate your site with celebrities you can stay at the top of most searches, then again that doesn’t guarantee great picks or reviews.- According to Alexa, this might be the most popular tee blog. Good if you want to see various celebs wearing tees.

Where's my happy face tee at Uneetee.com featured at SoS

ShirtsonSale have been featured in part 1 of this epic round up of t-shirt blogs. Great reviews and taste in tees, plus an eye for a bargain! They seem to favour Uneetee, Shirt.woot, Shirtaday & more graphic boutique tee-shirt printers plus a few discount tips and vouchers when almost as soon as they’re out there S.O.S find them!?!

Camisetas Mutante Tees at Adecuadamente

Viste Adecuadamente - A very popular Spanish-language t-shirt reviews blog, although I do recognise quite a few of the features at many of the other Spanish-speaking review blogs, I’m guessing by its popularity that this is the source for most of them. Lots of posts and a big archive, seems to have more than a cult following. Well worth a wander

Josh Principe Octopus Tee Featured At Color OverloadColor Overload do feature some very very cool t shirts amongst their reviews, alongside a lot of shoes and hats too, however I was surprised at the lack of product images on their home page, i.e none at all. Apart from the needed redesign CO does an excellent job of their reviews plus some industry news, marketing tips and what seems to be yet another top list of t-shirt reviewers Have I started a craze here? My first list was June 4th and now they’re all doing it, at least give me some credit for the idea guys - as if. Amazing finds at this post - Top Ten Designers.
GOOGLE PR1 - ALEXA TRAFFIC 227,391

Get Off From Ames Bros. Featured @ Troundup.com T Roundup - One of the major players in the t-shirt reviewers world, although I am surprised to see Color Overload taking over their high spot, I’ m relatively new to the field and yet there seems little in it at the top of this list. I suppose it comes down to most t-shirt fans reading as many blogs as possible lol. Anyway you probably have all heard of T Roundup - great selections, constantly updated, nice links in general. Not so sure I like the fiddly header navigation though.
GOOGLE PR2 - ALEXA TRAFFIC 228,951

Jenga by Glennz Featured At Daily TeeThe Daily Tee is a nice enough T Blog, quirky tastes in tees and some good finds, discounts, news and more. There was an annoying market research pop-up there though so be warned - maybe beefing up their advertising in the near future! Liked the rant about the price of tees too lol. What’s best is that they provide a new review every day - although don’t expect them to be as beefy as mine - yeah quality not quantity :p

Paradise T-Shirt at Uneetee reviewed by RudeRetro.com

Blog.RudeRetro.com A fully comprehensive and vibrant t-shirt reviews blog with a great layout and plenty of news, reviews, and features for the t-shirt fan and designer alike. The reviewer also runs a t-shirt store “Rude Retro” - his tees aren’t exactly to my taste but I do appreciate the fact he designs tees! It’s my argument that t-shirt designers are far more likely to know quality when they see it, and this designer does! I especially liked The Paradise T-Shirt from Uneetee.com. Well worth a visit!

Sex and Death T-Shirt by Paul Baines of Buy-Tees.net

Buy Tees …hey you’re reading it now if you hadn’t noticed! Yes I’m a relative newcomer to the scene (as far as the t-shirt reviewing side goes), but I’m an established t-shirt designer with a conceptual arts background attempting to make some waves in the industry.
GOOGLE PR1 - ALEXA TRAFFIC 304,421

EIO featured at I Love Your T-Shirt I Love Your Shirt has a rather strange single column format (little bit 90’s Flash designer for me), but the content is great and they make a point of featuring user submitted tees (with purchase receipt as proof!). Not all the posts are in English which also provides something of a stumbling block, but from those I could understand, my favourite featured tees there is from the latest men’s t-shirt collection cult label EIO.
GOOGLE PR3 - ALEXA TRAFFIC 311,351

Funny article on the all-seeing eye featured thisFantastic Blognanza - has a nice line on t-shirt reviews and also offers it’s own gear too (though you won’t find them on their blog). Nice selection of reviews, updated frequently, and especially enjoyed the paranoid piece on The Illuminati and all the “all-see-eye” t-shirts that seem to be cropping up these days!
GOOGLE PR4 - ALEXA TRAFFIC 359,637

Photo Sensitive Tees The T-Shirt Blog offer a lot of topical tees, if there’s a topic t-shirts can cover they’ve probably featured it. I’d rather see a portfolio by a top designer than precarious themes, but that’s just personal taste. Plenty of activist and political(ish) tees here, plus a few pun t-shirts for a laugh. They do however offer some very interesting and sometimes hard-to-find information on making t-shirts including a great post on making your t-shirts photo-sensitive using a scary sounding chemical called Cyanotype (although they do have to be blue and white to work!).
GOOGLE PR4 - ALEXA TRAFFIC 364,361

2 Dimensions T-Shirt by Gingham selected by SelekktSelekkt - Top quality shirts at budget prices, they’ve got the eye for a good design too. They seem to lean more towards slogan tees and icon tees over art shirts which is fine. I can see why the site is so popular - it delivers what it promises - not so sure about their love of 2Ktees though. Some self promotion for their store, but it’s a good quality collection so it’s all tickety-boo.

Sesame Street Tee Featured at TShirt Review

TShirt Review This is one of the more popular and well-written blogs about tees, they do exactly what it says on the tin, no mucking about, just t-shirt reviews. They have a large archive, feature plenty of lesser known t-shirt designers, but the whole thing is undermined for me by the fact that they offer paid-to-review services. I’ve been offered bribes but I just couldn’t do that, it makes the whole exercise pointless for me. Nice Sesame Street Tee from Choice Shirts featured there though!

Jesus Loves You T-Shirt at TorsoPants.com Pick by Tshirt Groove

Tshirt Groove is a daily blog offering “funny t-shirts of the day” - another affiliate-laden link site with most t-shirt offerings coming from Busted, Snorg and TorsoPants. Not my favourite kind of t-shirt blog, but the layout is smart and they do actually try and review the t-shirts rather than leave a pic and a link up like so many do.

Perfection is Boring at Design By Humans Picked By Pop Culture Tees Pop Culture Tees is an absolutely gorgeous looking site, love the grunge graphics and the Space Invaders wallpaper. The t-shirts featured are great too, although not all pop-culturally biased they still feel in-keeping with the ethos of the blog. Amusing sideline stories and links, and a section devoted to t-shirts (for designers). Great pick from Design By Humans called Perfection Is Boring

ATZ by ARTOYZ at addicteed.comAddicteed - is a very addictive t-shirt reviews blog featuring plenty of designs ’straight from the street’ and you’re sure to find some funky faves here, diverse and rather cool choices plus a very slick blog design, good archive though not too many posts each month - think quality rather than quantity. Take this pick as an example ATZ by Artoyz.

Pollution Effect @ Design By Humans Picked By Guru

T-shirt Guru is a pretty cool t-shirt blog, despite a rather grey looking blog design, they have some pretty good designs here, plus generous tips on other t-shirt review sites, news and views and a few discounts. One t-shirt they feature is a smart design called Pollution Effect available DBH. Tons of posts, at least a few a day but falls somewhat short on the in-depth reviews.

We Built This City On Rock And Roll TeeT-shirt Review Blog has been on a short break but promises to start reviewing again in the next few days. Interesting blog that seems to focus on posts by other t-shirt reviewers and link to their content rather than directly picking out there favourites. Although I do like the comparisons made between different reviewers tastes. I loved this find from Uneetees called We Built This City (on Rock and Roll).

Ex-Presidents T-Shirt at Bang Bang Chosen by TATI

T-shirts Around the Internet - I really like this blog, yes the template sucks (probably the most overused blog template at BlogSpot.com), but the reviews are pure quality. Nice choices of tees, great pieces of background info, brand features, and only a smattering of affiliate links as far as I can tell. Very personable style of writing too. I particularly liked their pick of the Ex-President’s T-Shirt from Bang-Bang. Another T-Shirt competition site that I’ll probably submit too, yes the prize money is low, but they offer a link to your site and a little instant fame.
GOOGLE PR5 - ALEXA TRAFFIC 677,510

Metal Fan at Threadless Featured at Threadspot

Threadspot is another affiliate feeder site, everything earns them cash which is fine, but I’d like to see more smaller independent t-shirt designers represented here (although they probably don’t offer referral commissions - hence the lack of range). Steers more towards the humour side of t-shirt design, and features the larger labels like Threadless, Uneetee, Lucky Threads, DBH etc… They do make up for it with a nice range of funny/smart comments that make for a good read!

Lego Gorilla Tee picked by Militant Geek

Militant Geek offers some really great reviews, well written, amusing, more than one sentence, he ticks all my t-shirt reviewers boxes except for one. I don’t really like his taste in tees, nothing particularly militant, a few geeky ones most definitely, but what a waste of a talent! This guy needs a new domain name and far more traffic and he’d be set - if only he could perform the same treatment on labels like Beautiful Decay, or just a few artier DBH tees I’d be impressed! Love that sense of humour though.

Super Mandolini Plane T-Shirt 1001 Camisetas have an absolutely amazing Spanish-language blog, the current feature is a full-blown interview with one of their homegrown stars, the cultural difference in design fascinates me. Being Vague Tee at Threadless

Sinbotones is another Spanish-speaking t-shirt blog - some nice picks here, but I do prefer the other Spanish-speaking t-shirt blogs in this list. Seems to be plenty of posts however I recognise a lot of the content which is a little disappointing after the surprises found at their competitors’ reviews. They also seem to always focus on competition winners for some reason?

Andy Loves Pop Art Tee by Turtlehead featured at Funky DudsFunky Duds is a very kewl t-shirt reviews blog that definitely deserves more traffic (hint). Kinda crazy looking design but maybe I’m just getting old (pass me my ear trumpet sonny) - a very diverse layout and selectio (although a little too many ads for my liking), I particularly enjoyed the dodgy looking Andy Warhol t-shirt they featured, available from turtlehead.

Clean up by Monkey Fist at T-Shirt AlertT-shirt Alert traffic stats surprise me, I can’t understand why this blog isn’t more popular, for a start they’ve led me to MonkeyFist (definitely a future review for them) who are freaky to say the least, but what’s more their blurb is stranger than their t-shirt. Excellent find from the Alert team. They offer regionalised links, proper full-blown interviews with t-shirt designer stars, and have a great style all-round be it taste, content or approach.
GOOGLE PR4 - ALEXA TRAFFIC 1,025,781

H ATR featured by Shirt Log Shirtlog - simple bold and friendly, a very down-to-earth look at all the new t-shirts on the blog. Madness of Mission 6 featured by LT

Loves Threadless - Threadless are great, a real innovator in the t-shirt industry, we have a lot to thank them for, but now they have our money, perhaps we can stop with the praise. It’s a profit-making company, it’s not a god, it’s not a saviour. I can’t understand why blogs would only want to feature one t-shirt label - unless they either secretly work for the company or wear blinkers whenever they surf the net. The truth is this blog could be far more popular if they just freaked out and reviewed a few independent stores for a change!

Concrete Hermit Tees at Shirt SpottingShirt Spotting is a German language t-shirt blog, nice layout and decent picks of tees, the archive has some less familiar ones for me, you can read the translated version here. Nice line in discounts, plus an equal share of affiliate and non-affiliate links. I like their taste, Concrete Hermit (I’m planing to review them soon-ish), plus a featurette on CottonWerks who are selling their tees for just $8? Seems so cheap!

Sneaker Head By Exact Science Fresh Dressed (translated version) I was in two minds to leave this in the t-shirt related blog pile seeing as it really focuses on fashion and only mentions t-shirts once in a while. But the blog is quality, even though I don’t speak German, the translated version still read pretty well. Some interesting choices too, not you run-of-the-mill CafePress.com t-shirts for a start. They have a great article on the label Exact Science, some extremely original street art tees from those guys! I love the Exact Science T-Shirt “Sneaker Head”.

Vinteeage - vintage t-shirt reviews - mainly seem to be funny ones, this niche definitely has potential if he can find the rights t-shirts, but it must be costing him a fortune getting content every week lol. I doubt it won’t be long before he starts selling a few on the side to pay for his tee-addiction. I’ve worked it out - he’s actually featuring anything new or old that can be described as vintage, kind of a disappointment really.

A UK Airport Banned This Transformers T-Shirt - Doh!

Banned T-shirts is not as controversial as it sounds. I’d treat this blog more like a t-shirt news site that solely concentrates on the one theme. I’ve actually mentioned a few of the same stories here, including an anti-gay t-shirt, the banned Transformers t-shirt debacle, and of course the Obama / Curious George Controversy, I even featured a video of protesters outside the designer’s bar for a few weeks, it’s fascinating stuff, but I don’t know if it’s really enough to fill a blog. Hey look at this post if you’re into t-shirt controversy. Then again there are plenty of Celebrity Tees blogs out there focusing solely on their subject so I am sure there’s a demand for it. I can imagine a few blogs scraping their feed to fill their own t-shirt news pages, luckily I write like a madman so I’m sure no one can replicate my style lol.

Green is for Camouflage tee featured at BestLosers.com Best Losers This blog is a stroke of genius, it highlights some of my past criticisms of voter-based t-shirt sites. Ever since the rise of Threadless we’re witnessing the same problem faced by CafePress.com - so many t-shirts rise the ranks because their creators are well connected (i.e 5000 Facebook friends) rather than creative skill and style. Best Losers showcases the best of the best of Shirt.Woot’s rejects, and where else they are available to buy!

They have that single column Flash-style thing going on again here, I think it looks a little 90’s (just a personal opinion) but there are some cool choices here, although I haven’t found anything I haven’t seen before. It’s a little annoying how all the t-shirt images link to sales and general sites rather than articles and product pages, however you’ll get used to it.

Vote Jimmy Carter 1976 Retro T-Shirt Aaron’s T-Shirt Review offers a ton of affiliate links, some interesting reviews such as Aaron’s piece on retro political tees, but still the posts are rather infrequent. I don’t mind affiliate links, I go through phases of chucking in a few myself, but I wouldn’t ever consider steering the content so far that I couldn’t write what I wanted about what I like. I suppose there are always arguments amongst t-shirt reviewers about this aspect of blogging. My position is that every one of the t-shirt designers we review wants to make a living from what they create, I design t-shirts and hardly make enough from them to buy a round at the pub, and so if I want to include a few commission links I do! Octopus t-shirt at heavytees.com or is it?Blokk is a Russian language t-shirt reviews blog - I’ve included a translated link as I doubt there are many Russian t-shirt fans reading this, if you are you’re probably better off going straight to Blokk.ru. Its fascinating to see the tastes of another culture, however close the ties between Europe and Russia, the language and tradition (plus political climate) definitely affects their choice of styles and designers. I’ve found a few new sites I’d like to review there too, so well worth a visit! I couldn’t find any offerings that had even the slightest leaning towards political comment (unsurprisingly), and in keeping with the stereotypical image the West has of Russia, little of any humorous content - or perhaps I am not as much a fan of abstract art the way these people are, although I do love this design by Heavy Tees. However I can’t find it at the store (lol). They review t-shirts a couple of times a week (according to Andy at HYA - however their links seem out of date! Short or non-existent critique which lends itself to an non-translated audience, although I’d have liked to have read more than simply verbal nods like “well worth a visit”, “cozy designs”, “not all just about white” and “good pieces” - I suppose that Google Translations has something to answer for, but unless the Russian government are censoring this blog, I’d say this guy is a man of few words.

Ninjas by Retro God featured at T-Shirt Legends!Tshirt Legends - Yes they’re all Cafe Press tees (again) and affiliate-links (again). But the reviewer is a nice woman runs the blog in her spare-time between many unrelated on-line businesses, just a nice friendly t-shirt reviewer blog I’d say. She’s only been going a couple of months so make her feel welcome! Here’s a review she did of one of my t-shirts

Mad T-Shirts at Defunked Defunkd: The vintage T-Shirt reviews blog, yep nothing new, except at his Ebay store, which seems a little bit complicated to access unless you just skip his heavily Flash-Animated site and head straight to the store. The vintage tees are cool though, few good picks there including a feature on how cheap he gets his gear.

Weird Bunnies at Etsy

Thunderfrogs should be filed under slightly insane - some kewl t-shirt reviews spoiled by a bizarre obsession with horses. Ironically I didn’t see any horse-themed t-shirts there, then again I didn’t find any Thunder Frogs either and I was looking forward to meeting them. I do remember ‘The Thundercats’, they did suck actually, anyway this was a great post about an Etsy-based designer recommended by the founder of Threadless Jake Nickell!

Fish Etc. at Linty Fresh

T-Shirt Advocate Yes I know the reviewer Paul has been on hiatus but he promises he’ll be up and running soon (He’s just got married so let’s give him a break!) I really like some of the t-shirts he’s featured at his blog. I even like his blog template, very minimalist and slick! I particularly enjoyed this pick - Fish Etc. T-Shirt at Linty Fresh.

Anti Comic Sans T-Shirt featured by Great Gear News

Great Gear News is another CafePress.com t-shirt reviews site. I can’t see the fascination myself unless it is out of convenience. There are so many independent t-shirt designers out there with a great talent who don’t use CafePress.com and even if they do it’s almost impossible to find them amongst all the NRA, Flags, U.S Politics, Fathers and Mothers Day, and I Heart Anything designs. CafePress.com is great for cheap t-shirts but their search system is screwy, their most popular t-shirts are almost always their least impressive. Still Great Gear don’t use affiliate links for a change and they did find this excellent Anti Comic Sans tee!

I Hate Bowling by Torso Pants Picked By ChauntChaunt Quote from the writer - “I’m officially going to stop commenting on how crap I am at posting because a) nobody reads this blog, and b) that’s just the way it is - I’m a busy fella =0)“. So expect irregular postings, though most of them are well worth the wait! Nice style and good taste in tees. Oh except for the big feature on bewbs. I really don’t think Vivienne Westwood knows how to design tees anymore, her early punk ones were great, but this one has that awful boxy treatment again.

Fender Tee picked by In TshirtsIn TShirts is a purely affiliate Link-driven site offering averagely amusing t-shirts from CafePress.com in the main. Not my cup of tea, I noticed they’re using popshops.com which offers affiliate links to all sorts of programs including ShareaSale, LinkShare and Commission Junction, so a little more choice than your usual paid link t-shirt review site

Galactic Milkshake at Islandsfold.com - Picked by ShirtFind

ShirtFind
Has plenty of posts daily, rather new blog and very sweet attitude and picks, nice to see that some people out there still have the gentle touch. Not sure about the blog template design, could do with a bit of work, but very sound choices including this one I’ve not seen before called Galactic Milkshake.

Cigarette Lungs T-Shirt by MonsieurT.net Laajo.com/weblog is a Chinese T-Shirt Reviewer’s Blog - I can’t read a word of it but he’s got great taste in tees. He recommends (I think) Monsieur T. which is another new designer for me, I love their iconic Cigarette Lungs t-shirt - straight to the point yet stylish! if you can read Chinese see the original untranslated version of Laajo’s blog here.

PACMAN Error T-shirt featured at Planeta TShirts

Planeta Tshirts is a Spanish-Speaking blog with excellent taste, I’ve seen at least two I’d love to get my hands on, one from Error Wear featuring PACMAN crashing at level 255. Plus an amazing t-shirt from ThreadPit.com called Immaculate Misconception There’s almost a 100 t-shirt reviews there now so should be a fun read - well view seeing as I don’t speak Spanish :/

Zuly Brand T-Shirts - Tip By Crucial Headache Crucial Headache is a rather infrequent blog written by Perry. All I know is that he likes old heavy metal t-shirts. I was reluctant to include this reviewer as I can’t see much going on there. Essentially Perry buy’s a t-shirt and if you’re lucky he eventually writes a little about it, there’s a gap of over a month between the last two posts so I’m guessing he hadn’t passed a t-shirt store in a while. More a fan than a reviewer. He does mention one t-shirt store worth a look though, it’s called Deep Sleep and it’s based in Philly if you’re heading that way. They feature a lot of designs by Zuly, a brand I’ve not heard of before.

12,081,362Featuring La Fraise Coupons at Funky Duds

Funky Duds offers it straight with pics, links and coupons wherever possible. Quirky taste in t-shirts and plenty to choose from, essentially it’s a matter of taste again, I like some of the choices, others I’m not so keen on, but I don’t exactly love any of the tees featured. Funny because he’s using some really good sources such as Woot and Threadless. Almost daily posts and seemingly a popular site all the same.

Invisible Friends, Broken Icons and Dead Rock Stars.

June 25, 2008

Invisible Friend is the kind of friend I’d like, as long as it’s not the crazy kind that will end up putting you in a safe ward for a few months until it’s decided to leave. Nor the kind my sister had as a child either, we were both only a few years old and she’d spend most nights nattering on to her invisible friend, she’d named it “Witch”, and whenever I’d pretend I had an invisible wizard, she’d insist her witch had killed it. I couldn’t see the point of continuing so I let her have the monopoly on fantasy friendships. Things have turned round now, I’m the crazy sibling, she’s the respectable one, I rant all night about t-shirts, whilst she waits for daylight and only talks to people she can actually see.

Invisible-Friend.co.uk first caught my eye when I spotted their sponsored link on Google, I don’t normally follow paid-for links, past experience has taught me that most Google Ads lead you on a wild goose chase, resulting in a page of search results from an inferior search engine. This time it was different, I can’t remember the link text, but the name drew me in, and I wasn’t disappointed. Now I have to be cruel to be kind but I do think the web-site needs a little work, I’d rather get straight to the collection on the home-page, but I can understand why they’d want to prepare you, they have an incredibly strong and graphic style that might scare the pants off the more lily-livered t-shirt punters out there. The T-Shirt Review That Never Was

June 23, 2008

Art Bully Free ZoneOkay this is probably way off social protocol and breaks the boundaries of Net Etiquette by a few feet (or miles), but I will be keeping the t-shirt store and designer in question anonymous because I want to share this rejection e-mail with you. Why anonymous? Because the guy has talent, and it needs time to grow, and getting his site ranked for “t-shirt criticism” isn’t going to help. Why share? We can all learn a thing or two from design critique - positive and negative alike.

This is a transcript of an email I’ve just sent to a t-shirt designer who I can tell has tyalent, seems a really nice guy, has a pretty decent store, a wide collection of t-shirts, and a unique style, but I’ve refused to review him at this stage. I think, I hope, he will understand my position (fingers crossed).

I’m not here to slate any designer, no matter what level of skill I always appreciate an individual that wishes to express them self through art, and especially t-shirt design. (I’ll have to post a thesis on the validity of t-shirt design as art form and medium one day - till then I’l just keep reviewing them). Read more

A T-Shirt Reviewer Reviews T-Shirt Review Sites!
