Rooster King at Bad As Hell Clothing

November 4, 2008

Bad As Hell ClothingHere’s the latest at BadAsHellClothing.com - one of my fave crowd sourcing (voter-based like Threadless) t-shirt sites out there. They always seem to produce incredibly unique and striking tees, and as you’re already thinking, yes the entrant quality is high! Still if you fancy submitting a design yourself I’ll tell you about their latest contest in a moment! I’ve given this site a couple of feature posts already so you know you’re on to a good thing, I especially like their latest winning design, very funky, very weird, just the way I wear them :D Read more

Better Late Than Never - Myspace T-Shirt Contest

November 3, 2008

Cancer Research and Myspace T-Shirt ContestSure I’ve been known to be slow on the uptake, I’m getting on you know, I don’t have my finger on the pulse when it comes to up-to-the-minute updates like some people in the t-shirt industry, but I get there in the end. Besides this blog is a hobby, a passion sure, but well I do have a life to live, besides there are plenty of t-shirts blogs out there for lists of discounts and contests if that’s what your after. I like to focus on designers and their stories, as you might have guessed, and whenever I get the chance I crowbar a few of my own tall tales into the mix, however I have to point you towards this contest, it’s for a good cause and it offers plenty of promotion and even though there’s no dosh involved you can’t really complain (if you believe in good karma).

You’ll have to hurry though, there’s only a few weeks left (gulp) - so if you’re gunning to get going here are the details… Read more

Chill out with Threadless in Iceland!

October 8, 2008

Threadless Contest

Threadless.com’s business timing couldn’t be better, sure it may just be the grizzled old cynic in me that can’t resist pointing this one out, but have you heard about the state of Icelandic’s economy these days? On average their prices for everything from hotels to food to shopping and bars are down around 40% compared to last year. So even if you don’t win their latest competition, it shouldn’t break the bank if you fancy popping over there for a while. Still it’s always nice to get a freebie, and with the latest theme of ‘Threadless Loves Travel’ you’ll have a pretty wide remit as far as design briefs go.

I’ve just got back from Morocco so the wild and frenzied culture of North Africa is still spinning through my mind, but to be honest you could choose anywhere and anything, be it the Great Pyramids of Egypt or the Great Wall of China, an Amazonian adventure, a flight into space, I’m not sure if time travel would count (although I’d be game - would be handy for the lottery numbers).

Whatever you fancy creating for the contest make sure you submit your work by their deadline for entries on October 22, 2008. Their contest is sponsored by Icelandair, action sports accessories company Dakine, IES Abroad (Institute for the International Education of Students), and even the band Calexico, are each making it possible for the best design to take to the skies in style. The creator of the winning design will receive a bounty of travel goodies including two round-trip tickets to Iceland on Icelandair, a $1k credit to a travel site of his or her choosing, courtesy of IES, a Dakine Split Roller 90 Travel Bag, and a personalized song, written by Calexico, inspired by the winning design.

Latest Buy Tees News

July 11, 2008

Here’s a quick round up of what’s been going on for me lately.

First up I’ve just won the BlogDumps.com T-Shirt and Logo Design Contest!

Winner of Blogdumps.com T-shirt Competition!

Woot! I’ve won 200 Entrecard Credits and a t-shirt, but best of all it’s brought more attention to Buy Tees and of course my t-shirt designs in general. It’s got me in the mood to do a few custom logo tee designs if the demand is out there, and so if you’re interested I can sort you out a design for just $50 which is a piddling £25 here in the UK so get them whilst they’re hot! I take payments by Paypal to avoid the hassle and would take around a week depending on my workload to create one for your blog/site/company. T-shirts make great prizes for any purpose, as you can tell from the interest built up at BlogDumps.com recently, so well worth a try. If you’d like a custom logo/t-shirt design for $50 contact me at info@webdesignweb.com and I’ll come up with my best I can for you. If you don’t like the design, you don’t have to buy it, it’s all valid experience for me as I’m opening up my old web and graphic site WebDesignWeb.com and need to fill the portfolio with some more recent logo designs.

New T-Shirts On The Block - Politicians and Babies.

July 7, 2008

I’ve a rather diverse selection of tee news for you today, starting with a few Barack Obama t-shirts available at ThrivingInk.com. Before you ask, I would feature McCain tee shirts here if they were as funky as Thriving Ink’s, but I somehow doubt that Republicans would want to wear anything as out there as these (first two) beauties. I do lean towards Obama for obvious reasons, the world oil crisis which has worsened so much more since the initial attack on Iraq, Guantanamo Bay, and the travesty of the Iraq war as a whole, plus the fact that Obama looks awake! Ice Cream, The Recession and The Rising Masses

June 26, 2008

IcecreamTshirts.com

I was busy building up my database of my t-shirts on the Buy Tees blog, (yes a little bit shameless self-promotion can go a long way), when I received an email mentioning a new Threadless Clone, amusingly named IcecreamTshirts.com. I’ll be reviewing as many lesser-known Threadless.com style t-shirt voter sites shortly, I’ve built quite a substantial list so far and am more than open to other suggestions. In the meantime, perhaps it was their cute and friendly site design, or their laid-back approach to selling t-shirts, or the fact that this is the first dual language t-shirt voter site I’ve come across, whatever the reason, I couldn’t resist designing and submitting my latest work in to their capable hands (I hope they’ve washed them first, I wouldn’t want my shirt to get all sticky!).

For the few t-shirts submitted there (a major draw for any designer competing at the likes of Read more

Paperwork T-Shirt by Paul Baines

June 20, 2008

Paperwork T-Shirt By Paul BainesYes, yes, I’m submitting to DesignByHumans.com again, no I’m not a glutton for punishment, I know I’ll probably get very few votes, but who cares, it’s all good. Matt from DBH support has put my mind at rest, (see the last post), and be assured I will keep pressing them to improve the comments system. However we’re both here, and for one thing, and that’s t-shirts.

The latest submission to Design By Humans, it’s called Paperwork and I believe its pretty much self-explanatory. It features a two characters wrapped in newspaper, one sweeps the road, the other is homless, the two share a moment under a sky-filled faux-water colour ticker-tape parade. I could push the whole eco argument again, but in all honesty this is more an exercise in the pointlessness of life than ecology. To be more accurate, the pointlessness of many of today’s society’s mechanisms of control, order and general management. Those who have little clear up those who have most, those who have nothing are cleared out of sight, and those with everything can’t see the trees for the paper.
