Buy-Tees.net is winding down… honest
I know some or even many of you have heard it all before, but here’s the problem money and time. Basically I and Chris are flat broke, the roof is crumbling, we’ve little money coming in and with water damage to almost every floor of the house I’m going to have to grow up (finally) and prioritize. That means, very little blogging, which was always just for fun, and an expensive hobby at that. No more reviews, although I’ll try and maintain this blog as an archive for as long as possible.
Career wise I’ll be focusing on graphic design (if anyone needs a decent graphic designer contact me at art@paulbaines.co.uk as long as you like your graphics weird – see my art blogs at http://www.arturban.co.uk and http://paulbaines.co.uk for more info.)
Hopefully, eventually, if the demand for my art picks up I’ll have money enough to sort out my life and even revive this and a few other blogs, but for now I have to admit that problems are coming thick and fast from all directions so reality needs to set in…
Thanks to all those who have read, followed, contributed and generally supported the blog in many ways.
Have fun
Paul
My Designs For Antiphrase
In case you’re interested in what I do asides blog my heart out then check out these two designs I have completed for Antiphrase, a French art shirt label with a fair share of artistic credence when it comes to the European graffiti scene. I’m supposed to create 3 designs for them (at the very least), they’ll be setting up my own sub-store on completion of the 3rd and will also begin selling my work via their retail boutique in France, which will be opening in September.
As you might expect, my designs aren’t going to be your run-of-the-mill t-shirts, I am after all an all out weirdo, artistically I probably hark from another dimension, still they seem to think there will be a market for my work. Still here’s a preview of what’s to come at Antiphrase.fr in the near future! read more
New Tees at Spunky.co.uk – Including one of mine!
Fame at last! Check out the latest tees available at Spunky.co.uk and if you take a closer look you’ll see Old School which if I do say so myself is one of my favourites there, not least because I designed it. Woot! This is a great British t-shirt store, they even have a stand at Glastonbury Festival, so you know you’re in with the hip kids when you choose Spunky! read more
Temporary Insanitee?
Okay – it’s true – I had a funny turn back there – but don’t worry I’m better now. I’d just come back from a funeral for a friend of the family, little sleep and the daunting prospect of designing and writing for the day did rather turn my brain to mush. Hey you know artist’s are temperamental, at least I didn’t cut off an ear. So ignore what you’ve read, I’m not going anywhere, I just know who to avoid when I’m feeling low now.
Sometimes you have a day that forces change, mine involved me vowing to create less t-shirts and make more art, I’ll be opening up a new site soon simply called PaulBaines.co.uk – not exactly catchy but you can blame my parents for that oversight. read more
Paperwork T-Shirt by Paul Baines
Yes, yes, I’m submitting to DesignByHumans.com again, no I’m not a glutton for punishment, I know I’ll probably get very few votes, but who cares, it’s all good. Matt from DBH support has put my mind at rest, (see the last post), and be assured I will keep pressing them to improve the comments system. However we’re both here, and for one thing, and that’s t-shirts.
The latest submission to Design By Humans, it’s called Paperwork and I believe its pretty much self-explanatory. It features a two characters wrapped in newspaper, one sweeps the road, the other is homless, the two share a moment under a sky-filled faux-water colour ticker-tape parade. I could push the whole eco argument again, but in all honesty this is more an exercise in the pointlessness of life than ecology. To be more accurate, the pointlessness of many of today’s society’s mechanisms of control, order and general management. Those who have little clear up those who have most, those who have nothing are cleared out of sight, and those with everything can’t see the trees for the paper.
