Time Warp Tee
TeeFury are about to release Ian Leino‘s latest t-shirt design and it’s definitely worth a look (and a laugh). The Time Warp Tee will be available for $9 for 24 hours on Monday, January 24th.
Time Warp Tee
Featuring all most of your favourite time travelling peeps from the movies including (the famous) half of Wyld Stallyns aka Ted from ‘Bill and Ted’, midgets from Terry Gilliam’s amazing ‘Time Bandits’, ‘The Terminator’, but no sign of Dr. Who. Although seeing as he keeps changing every couple of years that would be a doozie to draw!
If you fancy holding out for a hand screened version, you can buy one of Leino’s own Time Warp Tees shortly after TeeFury’s clock has counted down. Ian will also be running a coupon code FluxCapacitor good for 15% off your total order at: www.shop.ianleino.com. PLUS he’ll be giving away goodies through both Facebook and Twitter (with more details available on his blog). Phew!
Blue Plate Special
Our old mate Ian Leino has got created a new design that’s up for sale at the time-limited t-shirt store TeeFury today! Titled simply “Blue Plate Special” it mixes his love for hole-in-the-wall seafood restaurants (and their cheesy tourist shirts) with a deep appreciation for the wealth of aquatically-based characters in modern pop culture – everyone from Admiral Ackbar to Dr Zoidberg. As always at TeeFury, it’s just $9 + shipping, and will be for sale until midnight tonight.
Choose Your Weapon T-Shirt
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from ace designer Ian Leino, so it was great to hear from him about his latest t-shirt, it’s called “Choose Your Weapon” and I’m sure you’ll get the idea the moment you see the pics. I really like icon montage/collection designs, I’ve featured a few on this blog, but this is definitely a new one on me. This tee is actually an ever so subtle gamer shirt, perhaps the most subtle I’ve ever encountered. All the weapons depicted are from popular video games, the best of the best mind you. It includes some of my own personal favourites like the BFG from Doom, the Railgun from Quake 4 and the Energy Sword from Halo. So get ‘tooled up’ now and… Choose Your Weapon!

Here’s a handy fan-made key to all the weapons featured in this shirt.

You can buy this cool t-shirt in all sizes for both men and women for $18 at shop.leino.com.
New Lost Tee By Ian Leino
Sure the plot of Lost is as confusing as hell, sure it may have been stretched out a tad too far although the final series is just around the corner, but when it’s gone I can bet you that if you’ve watched it you’ll miss this ground-breaking TV series. To commemorate the final run of the TV behemoth that is Lost Ian Leino, a highly talented designer we’ve featured before at Buy Tees, has created a Lost / Beer Label Mash-up shirt for TeeFury, and for anyone familiar with TeeFury.com you know you won’t have long to buy one!
What’s more Ian is single-handedly reviving the art of scratchboard! If you’re not familiar with this technique take a look at this video from another artist just to see the amount of work it takes to create a design, also known as ‘scraperboard’ it involves a thin piece of white China plaster coated black with India ink. It’d be nice to see Ian at work on his scratchboard in a video, maybe next time?
Anyway the concept of his Polar Beer tee has a few references to Lost, one of course being the polar bear! Another might be a reference to all the ‘stations’ on the island, in this case Ian features a so far hidden one, the Beer Station. About time really, the poor time travelling motley crew could do with a few brewskies. Other references are the octagon which is a symbol for Dharma, an evil corporation that features greatly the show’s plot, plus of course the sightings of polar bears on this tropical island and ‘hatches’ leading to bunkers where former Dharma employees researched temporal events (amongst other all out weirdness).
Check it out but hurry there’s just 15 hours left on this one…

Phat Tees From Leino
Ian Leino is an indie graphic designer and illustrator based in Asheville NC who has for many sneaked under the radar when it comes to t-shirt visionaries, asides a great deal of respect at Threadless and the occasional if rather brief mention at various tee blogs like Hide Your Arms, so we here at Buy Tees think it’s about time the guy deserves to get the full treatment, a real review of his work to date, with plenty of visual goodies for all. Leino’s illustrations draw from a wide range of artistic styles and eras, he’s as adept at recreating the imagery of the past as he is at clean cut vector work, and more often than not, with a healthy dose of sass to keep his following smiling all the way to the checkout.
Leino is an independent guy, he doesn’t have a store, as mentioned he’s well known at Threadless, he’s also had a fair few commissions for clients including Cinder Block, Live Nation, Cotton Images, as well as other tee contest sites such as TeeFury.com and DBH. Leino, it must be stressed, is an all-rounder, he creates just about everything under the sun, be it CD covers, posters, calendars, however it has to be said that many of his t-shirt illustrations are stand out designs, and well worth checking out. You’ll have probably spotted many of the following in your time, such as a Collection of Flies and Vampires Beware, but what the heck, great tees are great tees, and besides this guy needs more exposure. If there’s one thing we can’t stand at Buy Tees, it’s great talent going to waste. Let’s take a look at what makes a phat tee in these lean times, over to you Leino… read more
