Say Hi To Seibei
Seibei must be one of the most famous “underground” t-shirt labels out there, everyone who loves tees knows who they are, their dinosaur character being a cult figure for thousands around the world, but as the saying goes you can’t have too much publicity, and seeing as they have a whole heap of treats on offer right now, we couldn’t resist giving this fun and funky brand a big shout out! First off, David Murray, the guy/guru/madman/genius behind Seibei has kindly offered up a discount code for all you lucky readers, get a whopping 10% off any of their products by entering BUYTEES at the checkout!
If you want more? (Yes more more!) We’ve just been tipped off about their latest contest where you can win a very generous $200 CASH just for re-tweeting the following:-
RT @davidSEIBEI: JOIN THE INTRAMURAL ZOMBIE HUNTING LEAGUE! RT & follow thru 10/25 for a chance to win $200! http://tinyurl.com/joinizhl
So, for those not in the know here’s what to expect from Seibei, their name is based upon a character from a story by Naoya Shiga, David is sick of explaining the reasoning behind it by now as he’s been asked 100s of times, but if you really want the full low-down there’s an excellent interview at T-shirt Magazine that’s well worth checking out. They produce a lot of monster tees, not your usual ghoulish sort with blood dripping from their mouths and gore splattered backgrounds, but rather innocent and colourful ones that scream kitsch and collectible. I can imagine a lot of Seibei’s customers buying one design after another, it’s a case of ‘if you’re into them, your addicted’. They have a fine collection of iconic tees all designed by David Murray, who if you haven’t had a chance, do read his about page as there is a hilarious retort aimed at his former Japanese teacher, Professor Meera Viswanathan of Brown University. All the t-shirts are expertly printed by American Icon, which as it happens are David’s former employers, so you can be assured if anyone knows how to design for print it’s this guy.
Seibei have recently taken a very interesting direction, having formed the Intramural Zombie Hunting League, hence the Twitter promotion, you can see the t-shirt celebrating the fact here. Unfortunately international hunters won’t be able to order in time for Halloween, but if you’re in the USA you’re in luck, just get your order in by October 19th and you should be safe… phew. However they’re available all year round all the same. These are personally customised too with an optional sleeve crest and personal name and number for the back, great fun I have to admit.
Whilst you’re at Seibei do make sure you visit the blog, it’s funny, informative, and it offers far more than merely info on the brand and their latest exploits, right now they’ve posted a feature on an excellent new t-shirt book ‘Tees: The Art of the T-Shirt‘ by MAKI Design which honestly looks superb and you guessed it, Seibei are included, as are plenty of other great brands on the scene. Plus of course you can keep up with all of Seibei’s latest exploits at Twitter, and remember to retweet their message! Right, let’s take a look at what makes Seibei’s tees so cool:- read more
Fresh and Crispy Tees
Fresh from the awesome design team at Black Axe this hot new label offers a wealth of funny and outrageous tees for even the most jaded of t-shirt connoisseurs. Crispy Tees, a humour tee brand that actually delivers straight to the funny bone, borne out of compulsive brainstorming for the most stupid and ridiculous ideas imaginable, has been open for business since late August and appears to be doing a roaring trade. Not only are the shirts genuinely funny, but as you’d expect from the likes of Black Axe, beautifully drawn to boot.
No matter your taste, be it geek/nerd, metal, punk, emo or plain old funny, you’re sure to pick up something to your taste at Crispy Tees, and unlike the heaving mass of other funny t-shirt labels out there who simply license and churn out the same old bad jokes again and again (yes I get plenty of angry requests to review dodgy “funny” labels – even though they mainly suck), these guys design all their own, they don’t recycle jokes, and they actually wear the shirts themselves. To me that’s a good sign they not only know what they’re doing but they’re doing it well.
Surprisingly enough some of the designs on offer are very subtle, such as First 4, whilst others are more blatant, including movie references, jabs at popular celebrities and social transgressions, still we can forgive Crispy, they’re only in it for the laughs, and laughs aplenty is what they deliver. All their tees are available at $18 in sizes S to XXL and printed on American Apparel. So… let’s get crispy! read more
What A Card – New Funny Tees At Busted
Got a friendly little email from Diana Chang at the snarky ecard site Someecards.com – and wouldn’t you know it they’ve started selling their designs as tees – makes sense to me. Anyway here’s where you’ll find their tees – http://www.bustedtees.com/someecards. Yep they’re at Busted Tees which is quite a coup, I guarantee that many of these t-shirts are going to sell out, not just because they’re genuinely funny in a faux-retro post modern sneering fashion, but also down to the fact their holding sale at the moment.
Usually on sale for $20 each you can get some of them now with a whopping 60% discount for a paltry $8 – the sale ranges from 15% up. Take a look at some of my personal faves for some idea of their humour wavelength – it’s vintage, dry as the Sahara, pithy as a week old lemon and as sarcastic as any celebrity gossip blogger. read more
Unleash The Humour At Crazy Dog T-Shirts
It’s been quite a while since we’ve featured a hardcore “funny t-shirts” store, some may say it’s a little old school, but hey we can all do with a laugh in this miserable economic recession (or is it a depression?) we’re experiencing these days. If you want high art we have featured plenty of t-shirt designers to fulfil all your creative needs, but if you want cheap laughs, and you want them to keep on coming you could do a lot worse than take a look at the vast collection of funny tees at Crazy Dog T-Shirts and don’t worry they don’t bite!
The humour is solid from one design to the next, some you will be familiar with, others you might not have come across before, but rest assured somewhere in CDT’s store you’re bound to find at least a few t-shirts to raise a smile, induce a wince, or even extract a laugh or two from you (if you’re not too hungover or feeling particularly deep and meaningful). Whatever your style and taste you have to admit it’s fun just to wear something for a laugh now and again. I have a soft spot for some of their 80s retro tees but there are plenty of popular contemporary designs available too including movie humour tees, vintage or modern you can still have a giggle, just don’t expect any deep thoughts and revelations and you should be fine – CDT is sort of the t-shirt equivalent of a drunken bar brawl where no one gets seriously hurt and everyone’s friends by the end of the night.
What’s more you’ll be glad to know Crazy Dog are having a Spring Sale on right now where you can pick up plenty of their funny, bad-taste and offensive tees for just $9 each. Plus, if you want a laugh and are almost flat broke there’s always the clearance section where you’ll find funny tees including mystery tees from just $6! If you’re totally broke you could always try earning a few dollars through their affiliate programs – they offer two plans for for clicks and the other conversions, so it shouldn’t be long before you’re rolling in funny tees, cash, or around the floor with laughter. Everyone of CDT’s tees are printed on super soft cotton and most are available from small to 3XL sizes. So without further ado here are our top pick of funny t-shirts at www.CrazyDogTshirts.com. read more
