Cake And Rockets
Cake and Rockets, a marvellous name for a rather funny yet talented Chicago based t-shirt label. You can read the whole story behind the choice of name here. What I really like about C&R is the fact that unlike too many labels out there who produce ‘funny tees’, they have kept their eye on the ball when it comes to the quality of illustration and design of their latest four tees. Their artists include the awesome Joshua Kemble, the highly talented Tasha Chapman and the supremely intricate Laura Barnard. I’m always getting requests from dodgy t-shirt labels that flood the market with ripped off jokes printed on cheap tees. Cake and Rockets, if there are saints in the t-shirt world, should be the patron saint of funny t-shirt brands. They shine the light and show the way forward for all those lazy poorly designed humour-based t-shirt brands out there.
Abe’s Civil War After-Party (Beer Pong!) Tee
First of two insanely long tee titles. Still the artwork is great, this one’s by the über cool Santiago Sanchez. Available in baby blue, sizes S-XL for guys and S-L for girls at $19.99 each.
Ahab Enjoys Starbuck’s Coffee While Moby Plays In The Background Tee
Available in lime, sizes S-XL for guys and girls at $19.99 each. Mad, but ultimately loveable illustration by Tasha Chapman.
Astronauts of SoHo
We’re talking N.Y SoHo and not the kinky one in London here in case you’re wondering. UK illustrator Laura Barnard encourages all you New Yorkers to share in her imagination – no they’re not water towers, they’re rockets. Lovely black on silver tee in S-L for girls and S-XL for guys at $19.99 each.
Del Toro Lane
Being a Brit, and an old git, I’ve no idea where Del Toro Lane is. I will take Joshua Kemble‘s word for it that it is indeed brimming with bullfighters :0 6 Colour illustrated tee in sizes S-XL for guys and girls at $19.99 each.
The rest are more text based tees, not too much to my liking, but I’m guessing these four tees definitely mark the way ahead for Cake and Rockets! See more at www.cakeandrockets.com.
Goodie Sale – April ‘Rules’ Day
Goodie Two Sleeves have officially renamed April Fools Day to April Rules Day. Sounds fine to me, I never was much of a practical joker, but I do like a good chuckle and Goodie Two Sleeves are knocking them out by the dozen these days. They’ve got a whopping 40 new tees on offer for the season and I’m in the mood for some cheering up! What’s more they’re offering a very generous 40% discount off all their new shirts for the next 5 days for guys and girls, which is bound to raise a smile with plenty of funny t-shirt aficionados out there.
If you fancy grabbing yourself a few bargains and having a few laughs then simply enter the discount code APRILRULES at the checkout at their online store www.goodie2u.com. There’s a wide selection of shirts from various designers, including Goodie Two Shoes, David Garibaldi, Lazy Oaf and even some Elvis merchandise, not sure if that’s supposed to funny though. Depends if you’re a die hard fan of the erm… king (cough). Here’s my favourite from the sale.
Godzilla T-Shirt

A little slice of retro monster movie madness complete with angry dinosaur and 3d specs. It’s simple, funny and rather cool in a shabby chic kind of a way. It’d be nice to see something similar for the guys. Girls can get the Godzilla t-shirt in sizes S to XL for $21.98 ($13.19 in the sale) in aqua.
Stop The Press – Headline Shirts
It’s been a while since Buy Tees has featured a funny t-shirt brand, so to pick up the mood and welcome in the Spring let’s have a few laughs at what’s on offer at Headline Shirts in San Francisco. Don’t expect intellectual debate or beautiful art, Headline Shirts create funny t-shirts inspired by the news. Be it pop culture, politics, music and of course history. They always have discounts on offer such as their $10 deals. Also look out for their extra special deals such as St. Stereotypes Day when every green t-shirt is just $10. Their postage costs are $5 for USA and Canada, $10 for international customers.
Personally I prefer the more cynical sarcastic tees on offer, everything from the US prison system, football violence, evil dictators, geekdom and the environment are tackled by Headline’s top team of highly facetious chimps. (Okay not really but the logo says otherwise). You can get all the latest from HS via Facebook, Twitter and RSS as well as their mailing list.
Proceeds T-Shirt

Sarky, snarky, funny. It’s true, so many celebs and politicians on the bandwagon, the thing is most of them ask the public for the money, funny how few shell out a decent amount themselves. I suppose that’s because their “time is so precious”. Get the Proceeds T-Shirt for men in S to 3X in red for $19.99.
Censored Document T-Shirt

There’s nothing like an open government, and this is nothing like open government. If you want to know the truth about what’s going on in the Middle East, rely on Headline Shirts to put you straight. It seems that everything is actually fine, no one has died and… “The troops are having a blast here”. Great concept, love the message, get the Censored Document T-shirt for men and women in various sizes in white for $19.
You May Already Be A Loser T-Shirt

This one made me laugh, You May Already Be A Loser T-Shirt tackles one of my pet hates. My late father used to waste a small fortune on scratch cards. It’s like they are the most paltry form of entertainment in the world. At least if he was hooked on the geegees he get to see a race. Paying for the pleasure of scratching silver gunk off and eternal disappointment doesn’t appeal to me. Get this cool shirt for just $9 in Headline’s sale, available M for men (black) and just one Small red tee left for the women!
Cro-Magnum T-Shirt

Loving this one, imagine if you mixed up Planet of the Apes and the Dirty Harry movies? This is probably what you’d end up with. I really like the clean vector style in the Cro-Magnum T-Shirt too, available in all sizes for men in white for $19.
Go on, have a laugh, check out Headline Shirts.
Fresh and Crispy Tees
Fresh from the awesome design team at Black Axe this hot new label offers a wealth of funny and outrageous tees for even the most jaded of t-shirt connoisseurs. Crispy Tees, a humour tee brand that actually delivers straight to the funny bone, borne out of compulsive brainstorming for the most stupid and ridiculous ideas imaginable, has been open for business since late August and appears to be doing a roaring trade. Not only are the shirts genuinely funny, but as you’d expect from the likes of Black Axe, beautifully drawn to boot.
No matter your taste, be it geek/nerd, metal, punk, emo or plain old funny, you’re sure to pick up something to your taste at Crispy Tees, and unlike the heaving mass of other funny t-shirt labels out there who simply license and churn out the same old bad jokes again and again (yes I get plenty of angry requests to review dodgy “funny” labels – even though they mainly suck), these guys design all their own, they don’t recycle jokes, and they actually wear the shirts themselves. To me that’s a good sign they not only know what they’re doing but they’re doing it well.
Surprisingly enough some of the designs on offer are very subtle, such as First 4, whilst others are more blatant, including movie references, jabs at popular celebrities and social transgressions, still we can forgive Crispy, they’re only in it for the laughs, and laughs aplenty is what they deliver. All their tees are available at $18 in sizes S to XXL and printed on American Apparel. So… let’s get crispy! read more
