Loviu Sale
Tee community Loviu are holding a sale all next week, all their winning tees will be reduced from $18 to $15 beginning Midnight Sunday. Here’s a selection to give you a taster.
Music – Since The Earth Formed An Atmosphere Tee
Is it me or are t-shirt titles getting longer and longer? Nice Fairey style print designed by Lucas de Alcântara. $15 each in next week’s sale in sizes S-XL for guys and girls.
Donald F#%k Tee
Mickey’s famous stooge having the last laugh just as the bomb drops. Nicely nasty. $15 each in next week’s sale in sizes S-XL for guys and girls. Designed by Diogo Machado.
WingedNaut Tee

I love astronaut art, I’m actually working on an astronaut piece myself at the mo’. This is so cool, they’ve sold out of small sizes for guys otherwise all other sizes available. Designed by SABAS.
Whilst I’m at it I thought I’d try and see if my controversial We Heart You Tee could even last a day at Loviu. If you fancy helping me out (got a quid for a cuppa’ mister?) then a vote for my submission would be lurverly!
We Heart You Tee
Here’s my own design submission – it’s all about the sweat trade. Vote for it here.
Arkaik
Originally started by young entrepreneur Alex Mitchell, Arkaik was acquired by fellow t-shirt guy Jordan Abidor, and the tradition of strong concepts and a highly skilled pool of artists remains to this day. Social networking got the label to where it is today, as well as strong ties with the music industry and more recently involvement in the music festival scene.
They have a whole heap of great tees on offer but these 3 tees really caught my eye. Just $20 each and superb graphics!
King of Sea (Reprint) Tee
Great to see a reprint of Arkaik’s signature tee King of Sea. Only 20 printed from their ‘vault’ at $20 each – sizes left are XS-L.
Nar-kaik Tee
My fave of the lot, shipping now in sizes S-L for $25 each. Only 30 printed so snap ‘em up, all the XL’s are sold out :0
Dinobama Tee
I know, we’re all sick to the death of Obama gear, but hey, dinosaurs are cool right? If this is a T-Rex then the Republicans will no doubt front a Velociraptor as their candidate :p Only L sizes left, one for me then heh.
All the tees come with a custom printed inner label and top notch printing. Well worth a visit… here.
Dephect
I’ve been meaning to get around to reviewing UK label Dephect for ages, I have no excuses bar the fact they’re so well known I wasn’t sure what I could “add to the mix”, but seeing as I’ve already reviewed their mates over at Sutsu it seems only fair! If you haven’t come across Dephect before (where have you been?) then you’re in for a treat. As for all those more familiar with the label I’ve lined up a few of their delectable screen printed tees from their latest Spring / Summer 2011 Collection. So it’s all good ;)
Dephect was borne from the mutual love of skater culture, the 90′s hip hop scene, and the passion of four friends in London for underground art and design. All this and more was to collide in a symphony of creative energy that eventually developed into a signature urban Brit fashion label with fans across the world. The site is as slick as the tees, and this latest collection pulls out all the stops when it comes to street savvy style with a London bad ass attitude that takes no prisoners.
In addition to their classic graphic tees Dephect have released a selection of high-end progressive cut and sew pieces, heightening the quality and experimentation for this unique brand all the more. Original design is abound at their store, created by hand picked artistic talent from around the world, each with their own cool biography page. Men’s tees are RRP. £24.99 but with the sale on there are plenty up at just £14.99 and for the girls £22.99 RRP and just £9.99 for the sale items!
Scrawl Tee
Damn, nice style! Designed by UK graff artist Dan Kitchener, this takes me back to the good old days, 2000 AD, Alan Moore knows the score. Sweet. (Also available in white).
Face Tee
This one’s by El Niño de las Pinturas (The Boy of Paintings) who’s something of a cult hero in the streets of Granada. A dreamy graffiti style tee that’s available in a selection of colours and cuts.
London Black Book Tee
This limited edition shirt, designed by old school London graf artist Met, to accompany the London Black Book which features rare and unseen sketches and characters from over 200 of London’s top graffiti artists including Elk, Zomby, Drax, Mode 2, Cazbee, Goldie, Teach, Coma, Vibes, Neas and Met plus many more. Also available in white. Funny thing is the book is cheaper :0
Skull ‘N’ Mics Tee
The ultimate pirate tee, if you’re gonna’ rip that beat do it in style ;) Also available for guys in heather.
Finally a couple of real bargains from the sale section…
Mr Vinyl Tee
Love it, vinyl nostalgia, the best there is. Get this one in heather and charcoal for the guys and olive for the girls.
Staying on the vinyl theme here’s another total bargain from the sale…
Remixomatic Tee
Ver..ver..ver.v..v..v..very funky with a nice set of colours to match you can get this at £9.99 for girls and £14.99 for guys. Loving the gold version to bits, or should that be bytes?
There’s plenty more on offer including sweats, hoodies and prints, plus videos and tunes when you’re brassic. Unleash your dephectiveness at www.Dephect.com.
Johnny Cupcakes Is Coming To London
To mark the opening of their new London retail store on Saturday the 12th of March at 1:00pm in 10 Fouberts Place, Carnaby, London, Johnny Cupcakes is pulling out all the stops with an exclusive London tee and a fab toon to keep you occupied until the big day!
Brimming with Yank clichés of London like the word ‘shoppe’ which hasn’t been used in London for a few hundred years and a guy in a top hat reading a newspaper which is more suited for Newmarket or Aintree racetracks than the capital, the design is still rather sweet.
Still, I’m sure Johnny will see how much we’ve all moved on since Charles Dickens wrote ‘A Christmas Carol’ when he steps ashore this septic sceptered isle of ours. Johnny, just a warning, don’t give beggars less than a quid (if anything) or they will shout abuse as they set their rabid dogs on you, apologise for George ‘W.M.D’ Bush before Obama ‘bamming strangers into a brief coma, and don’t cite Dick Van Dyke as your favourite actor or someone will surely kick you in the nuts. All that asides, have a nice stay!
In the meantime Johnny will keep you occupied with this cartoon, hey, it’s like being a kid on a Saturday morning all over again =}
For the rest of the world who can’t make it to London here’s a few of their non-exclusive tees :p
See ‘em all here.
Disturbia – Spring/Summer Collection
Yay, the awesome Disturbia are back with another phenomenal collection of tees, vees, hoodies and accessories for the Spring/Summer. As usual expect eye-popping graphic excesses exploring the darker nether regions of society as well as some rather twisted humour to keep you all bubbling along. Subjects include dead whacked out Beach Boys, a satanic Beethoven and the Lizard King himself Jim Morrison – let’s just hope he doesn’t ask anyone to lament for his pee pee :p All this and more is available at £22 tees for guys and girls and vests at £20 each in sizes S-XL.
Damn, there are just too many to feature, I can only give you an idea of what to expect, although really all you need to know is this… “Wow!”
Travis Bickle Tee
Are you looking at me? No you’re looking at the finest t-shirt tribute to De Niro’s masterpiece, ‘Travis Bickle’. I love Taxi Driver so much, it’s the only time I can stand a performance by that awful “Can do!” woman Cybill Shepherd. I love the perspective in this one too, a perfect Bickle pose. Available as tees and vests for guys and tees for girls.
Kalma Tee
Kalma refers to the Finnish goddess of death rather than the Islamic prayer – just in case someone has a Fatwah brewing. Lovely detail as usual, gore has never looked as beautiful. Available as tees and vees for guys and girls.
Bad Vibrations Tee
If you’re an old tripper like me and ever had the misfortune to be bombarded by Pet Sounds just as you’re peaking then you will definitely relate to this tee. If not, take my word for it, as far as psychedelic sound goes The Beach Boys are more like heroin than heroes, unless of course you’re straight as a die. I love the style of Bad Vibrations, it’s something of a departure from the wild in-house style at Disturbia, but it works, for sure. You can go surfing in sorrow with this tee, no vests this time.
Symphony For The Devil Tee
Beethoven is spending eternity scrawling ditties for Diablo, don’t ask why, I have no idea, I’d have thought Wagner had more to answer for. But if you’re into your dead classical composers, this one’s a great start ;)
Wolves Tee
So good it hurts, the illustration is a killer, perhaps the best yet from Disturbia, incredible colour and tonal shading make this one worthy of a major hardback graphic novel cover. Hope to see more like this for the future. Dead sexy too! Only for the girls this time, as vests and tees in sizes S-XL.
One more for luck…
Voodoo Chile Tee
Now, if you’re going to get out of your bonce put some Hendrix on, it’s honestly the only way to go, this guy played guitar like most people orgasm. If you have a friend that can’t play guitar but insists you should listen sit them down with Are You Experienced and walk away. They should either improve or give up by the next morning… lol. Tees for the girls and tees/vees for the guys.
Incredible stuff as always – do you want more?
Topo Ranch
I was rather surprised that Topo Ranch‘s PR people had requested a review at little ‘ol Buy Tees. I doubt many Brits have heard of the label but in California they are big, and how. First off, in case you don’t know ‘Topo’ is slang for a Prairie Dog, and there’s a long story behind why Topo Ranch hail this humble creature, starting way back in the original Great Depression (which may need to be renamed the ‘Lesser Depression’ in the near future). Back here in the present day Top Ranch’s logo the “Flying Topo” is a familiar sight around Venice Beach, popular amongst guys and girls alike. They sell their 100% sustainable fabric tees at flagship stores in Venice, California and Boulder and their gear is on sale in a further 200 stores across the USA. They’re even the official merchandise provider for Sundance Film Festival and what’s more they’ve garnered some really big fans includingLeonardo DiCaprio, Alicia Silverstone and Ben Folds Five.
Right now they’re holding a 50% winter sale, so this is should be a great time to show you a few of their graphic tees to give you an idea of what Topo Ranch do.
Inland Vee
My fave tee at TR, even if it is for the ladies, kinda reminds me of an old travel poster from the 1920′s, lovely bold confident swathes of colour make up for one hell of a classy vee. Available on sale now for $24.95 (usual price a mind staggering $39 – gulp). Right now this one’s only available in XS but for everyone else there’s a very similar tee in the form of the Islander Vee, still available in sizes XS-L available at the same price.
The Beer Tee
What do you get if you cross a bear and a deer? A beer, and there’s a good head on this one, although you’ll have to squeeze in to a men’s XS as stocks are low. If you can ,you’ll probably need it, if only to give you a little Dutch courage in your next bar room brawl :D Available for $24.95.
The Topo Tee
Here’s the famous Topo Tee. Now that’s a cute logo! Loads of men’s sizes left for sale at a whopping great $39.99. The lovely long tee version for the ladies available in white and black which is on sale now for a relatively bargain price of just $19.99 but only large sizes are left. Grrr.
I’d have liked to have shown you more, but Topo Ranch embeds its images in Flash so I can’t gather any more decent sized photos. The trouble with talking via a PR company rather than their client is that it stretches out any request ad infinitum. I’ve encouraged them to upload larger images of all their products to Flickr but to no avail. Some companies, independent or otherwise, can grow so large that they can’t see the wood from the trees when it comes to building a relationship with a worldwide audience. Flickr is a great way of getting your designs out there in the wider world, the whole world. Who knows, perhaps Topo Ranch will consider a more personal approach for the future? What’s more, if any of you do run a t-shirt label make sure there’s some stock left when you have a PR blitz! Lol.
You can see the rest of their wide range of graphic tees, vees, long-sleeve tees, fleeces and knits at www.TopoRanch.com. Let’s just hope you find something in stock!
Inkvasion
Don’t worry the world isn’t about to be destroyed by black blobs of ink from space, in fact Inkvasion hooked up with me at Twitter and so I checked out their site and found a couple of really sweet tees there, one is a juicy zombie shirt in a nice ‘n’ slick comic art style and the other looks like a lost poster for 2001 or any sci-fi movie of the same vein, very ominous! I’m keeping this brief as I really need to get a Sunday in once in a while, so take a gander at these two while I make sure there isn’t any black smoke bellowing out of the oven…
Eclipse Tee
A beautifully simple abstract design, a tad spooky with some dark sci-fi pretensions, love it. Get the Eclipse Tee for guys and girls in heather grey or purple at $29.95 each in sizes S-XL.
Zombie Tee
Another great shirt, this time featuring zombies, I’m always a sucker for zombie tees. Great illustrations too. Get the Zombie Tee Tee for guys and girls in white at $21 each in sizes S-XL.$21 each.
All Invasion’s tees are limited edition, hand printed and come with a lifetime warranty!?! Honest, it’s true, with just a few stipulations… “If your shirt is destroyed in any way whether Tornado, Laundry Mishap, Lightning Strike, Shark Attack, Alien invasion or even burning your threads saving babies from burning buildings, We will replace it for free.“
See ‘em all at www.TheInkvasion.com.
Honour Over Glory
I am shocked to find I’ve never featured this incredible brand before. The 13-strong artist collective Honour Over Glory was established last year in February, HOG are based in Aberdeen Scotland, and their illustrated fashion range is quite phenomenal. Leaning towards the tattoo-style illustration, their designs are punchy, bold, and highly recognisable.
If you want to learn more about the team of artists at HOG click here. Asides the tees they offer hoodies, vests, hats, crew-necks and more. Their prices are sound at £12.99 each (when you see the quality you’ll see why they’re great value), in sizes S-XL, with quite a few goodies awaiting a reprint, I won’t tease you so only those in stock are featured below.
Warrior Girl Tee
A very celtic, tribal, powerful tattoo style illustration by Scott Gunner.
Young Heart Tee
Another cool tattoo style tee, you can never go wrong with wolves ;) This one’s by the art supremo Rik Lee.
Serpent Ties Tee
Perhaps my fave of the lot, love the snake, a great illustration by Callum Green.
Muertos Tee
Okay I’d tie the last one with this one, too many good tees, which is never a bad thing. Another great design by Scott Gunner.
Deer T-hoody
Yep it’s not quite a tee and not quite a hoody, but I have to include this one, very snazzy at £14.99. Should be a hit with the girlies.
See more fabbo tees at the almost irritatingly brilliant www.HonourOverGlory.com.
Third Time’s The Charm Tee
I’m not particularly superstitious, I do walk on the cracks in the pavement, Friday the 13th doesn’t seem to be any unluckier than Thursday the 12th, however I do avoid walking under ladders, but that’s just common sense. The number 3 seems to have a powerful place in society, there’s the Trinity in Christianity, one of my all-time faves Three is the Magic Number and then there’s these two interchangeable sayings, “Third Time Lucky” and “Third Time’s The Charm”. Beau Clothing have gone with the latter as the inspiration for their rather cool Third Time’s The Charm graphic t-shirt.
Third Time’s The Charm Tee
I had to persuade Beau Clothing to upload a couple of detail shots, but I think you’ll agree it’s worth it. A very clean and cool tribute to the lucky number 3. You can get this unisex t-shirt in sizes XS-L for $21 each.
See more tees at www.thebeautee.com.
Even More Vicious History
It’s been a long old while since I first reviewed Vicious History, a distinctive label with a penchant for taking pops at famous moments and figures throughout the past. Their take on a rather haggard Napoleon is still indelibly marked on my mind. Before we take a look at what they’ve been up to over the past six months or so, (and yes they have been busy), I’ve managed to wangle a week long discount code for all you lucky lucky people. Just enter the voucher code buytees at the checkout for a very respectable 15% off anything you purchase. This offer lasts until the 26th of January 2011.
Atropos Tee
Featuring a beautiful rendition of the amazing Death Head Hawkmoth (aka “Acherontia Atropos”, this one is pure class. The vintage border really beefs up that gravitas. A lurverly design by the awesome t-shirt artist and familiar face at Emptees – PitchGrim. $24 but only XL left in this tee and Medium in this tank =0
Scholars & Thieves Tee
Again only available in XL again and seeing as this and all their tees are limited edition I guess there’s no chance of a restock :/ Ah well, hopefully VH will let me know pronto when their next collection is released! I’m not exactly sure what the Scholars & Thieves Marksmen Club is but it sounds dodgy to me. Luckily the design hits the bullseye :p Designed by Brazilian artist Gabriel Gozzer. Get it for $24 in black XL.
Dream Catcher Tank
Also available as a tee this rather Shamanic contribution is definitely on my level. Another expert design by t-shirt artist Craig Robson. Again only XL sizes left for the tee and the tank.
Wild Wolves Tank
Another gorgeous design by Gabriel Gozzer, even though Wild Wolves is almost sold out you’ll be glad to know there’s now a Wild Wolves II. The originals are available as a tee and tank in (you guessed it) XL only for $20 each. This all should be rich pickings for the super-sizers! Whilst the Wild Wolves II tee is available for $24 in ALL SIZES!! That’s S to XL.
Wild Wolves II Tee
Get them whilst they’re hot.
Let’s hope for a more timely Vicious History post next time!
