New Glenn On The Block – Aled Lewis
You’re probably all aware of Glennz tees, run by Glenn Jones, a highly talented and humorous Australian illustrator who has for the main part cornered his area of the market with a wide variety of pithy pun-based t-shirts illustrating much of the ridiculous in society and the media. However you might not have heard of Aled Lewis, who for all intensive purposes is as about as close to an apprentice if not challenger for the place as king of comic tees.
Their styles are interchangeable, both Aled Lewis and Glennz being masters of graphic design, sticking to the old adage that ‘less is more’ both manage to convey t-shirt designs packed with humour and artistic reference without cluttering their work with excessive details and effects. Pure as purest vectors can be. The only real difference I can spot is that Alex has a decidedly more British sense of humour, featuring such British icons as The Tardis from Doctor Who, medieval humour and old school punk rock in the form of a male chicken.
Aled doesn’t have his own store as such however you’ll be relieved to know that all his works are available as winning designs (sometimes in collaboration with others) at Threadless and Shirt.Woot. Let’s take a look at some of Aled’s funniest creations and see exactly why this guy may become the new t-shirt king of comedy!

Vote For Glennz!
As you may or may not know Glennz is an old favourite here at Buy Tees. Glennz Tees – designed, produced, and run by the inimitable Glen Jones, a master of the pun and vector illustration has introduced a new and more democratic format to his beloved site. Formerly a star of Threadless.com Glen defected from the site and started up his own t-shirt store and has had phenomenal success in the market.
Not only does he sell t-shirts by the bucketful, his following around the world has continued to grow and grow, he even offers a collection of free iPhone wallpaper these days, so even if you find yourself proverbially naked, i.e not dressed in a Glennz tee, then you can always turn to your iPhone for a quick fix of Glennz unique surrealist view on life.
Anyway, here’s the latest news from Glen, he’s set up a voting section at his site, which essentially means he’s handing over the power to the people! If you want to see any of his latest designs printed up then vote, if you don’t then don’t! I’ve already checked a few myself, I was amazed at how many were sitting on the sidelines, and so just as a teaser I thought I’d feature a few of my personal favourites here. But if you want to wear any of these, get down there and vote, it’s the only way a teemocracy can work :p
War and Peace in the World of T-Shirts
Now, I’ll warn you, this is most likely the beginning of a long saga, if not an epic of all t-shirt articles. I doubt you can really call it a review because there’s so much to tell you, so much to explain, and so many twists and turns in the story that the word ‘review’ just wouldn’t do it justice. This is the story of the birth of a new and hopefully very successful (fingers crossed) niche target t-shirt label.
Let’s start from the beginning, the very beginning. Now, if you believe in fate, hey you have to believe in something, then you’re probably not the most ardent fan of coincidence. I’m not, in this grizzled addled brain of mine I like to cling on to the small hope that perhaps some things in life have a purpose, and that on those few occasions you should grab life by both horns and wrestle it to the ground.
Now, human beings are complicated creatures, they have individual lives and emotions, each has their own perception on why we are here and what we should be doing, and that means that a lot of us will never meet and if we do we will never agree on the most fundamental precepts of existence. Sometimes that’s a good thing, it means avoiding wars and most painful experiences in life, but sometimes it can be a real shame, glancing back and realising you’ve missed a great opportunity to help (in some small way) others find their way in modern life and all that it entails.
i want to introduce you to two guys, two very different men, both have a love of t-shirts, both want to find their way in the industry, and until recently neither had any idea of the other’s existence. read more
Another Hole In One By Glennz
If you want a chance of winning a $30 gift certificate from the awesome t-shirt designer Glennz, purchase one of his tees and take a pic of you wearing it. Upload the photo here and you’ll be entered into the monthly draw! Make sure it’s in landscape format so Glenn Jones, (Glenn from New Zealand = Glennz) can feature it on one of his product pages. Hey you could be famous and get yourself a few more tees to boot.
Anyway, here’s the latest fab tee from Glennz called ‘Puzzled Putter’. I’m not too keen on golf but I do love the M.C Escher twist in this design… read more

Here’s a quick round up of what’s been going on for me lately.
First up I’ve just won the BlogDumps.com T-Shirt and Logo Design Contest!
![]() |
Woot! I’ve won 200 Entrecard Credits and a t-shirt, but best of all it’s brought more attention to Buy Tees and of course my t-shirt designs in general. It’s got me in the mood to do a few custom logo tee designs if the demand is out there, and so if you’re interested I can sort you out a design for just $50 which is a piddling £25 here in the UK so get them whilst they’re hot! I take payments by Paypal to avoid the hassle and would take around a week depending on my workload to create one for your blog/site/company. T-shirts make great prizes for any purpose, as you can tell from the interest built up at BlogDumps.com recently, so well worth a try. If you’d like a custom logo/t-shirt design for $50 contact me at info@webdesignweb.com and I’ll come up with my best I can for you. If you don’t like the design, you don’t have to buy it, it’s all valid experience for me as I’m opening up my old web and graphic site WebDesignWeb.com and need to fill the portfolio with some more recent logo designs.
Glennz – aka Glenn Jones – A Bona-fide Genius of T-Shirt Design!
Glennz – The T-Shirt Design Genius.
Even if you don’t think you’ve heard of Glennz (Glenn Jones) the t-shirt designer, you have, and if you haven’t, this is planet Earth and the year is 2008. I doubt any person alive with a love of t-shirts hasn’t seen one of his works. I’m sure we could debate whether this is art or not for years to come, but, as far as fulfilling all the requirements of classic t-shirt design, Glennz has to be the man.
I know this review will come across as a total creepfest, but I really don’t care, Glennz has to be one of the few t-shirt artists that made me believe I could make it in this industry. His works are some of the most memorable I have ever seen, sure they aren’t grunge, they’re not eroded, they’re not filled with vector shields and gothic text, or experimental photo-montage techniques, but those are all fads and fashions that will pass and eventually return again.
The world of design like the world of art follows some very basic principles in order to maintain their essential position in our culture. They enable us to visualise that which cannot be understood, or has been misunderstood. They must create a new iconography for each generation, they must speak to both the mass and the individual. Yet beneath all the diatribe, each artist, each designer, has to have their own distinct vision and a wealth of skill and technique to achieve it. read more
