Planning a Clothing Photoshoot
Photo shoots are a fun experience from your first to your 100th (if you are to be so lucky) so you should treat it as such, and plan for it to be a good time that results in great photos for promotion of your collection. This document has bits and pieces that can be used for “monthly release” photo shoots although the approach is gear more towards seasonal releases. Topics 1-4 can be completed in almost any order although the listed order is recommended. read more
Top Trompe L’oeil Tees at Koolto.com
Now, I’ve seen my fair share of trompe l’oeil t-shirts, most designers will take a stab at a few and then move on to another idea. However Koolto.com have taken the whole idea of ‘tricking the eye’ to the next level, and then some.
What surprises me most is just how effectively Koolto has managed to conceive their wide collection of surreal tees. If you’re not familiar with trompe l’oeil check out this page from Wikipedia which is bound to help you appreciate what the Italian design team behind the Koolto label have managed to incorporate in their range of modern, quirky and elusive urban street wear. read more
Ugmonk Opens For Business
Jeff Sheldon of Ugmonk.com has just announced the release of his first three tees at his new designer t-shirt store. At the moment there are but three t-shirts on offer, but I have been assured plenty more are on the way. I wouldn’t normally feature a store with so little to offer (so far), however these tees do offer a slick and rather classic New York / Bauhaus Typography style that you don’t see around as much these days. Saying that they’re based in Vermont, which makes me think that Vermont may have less of a laid-back hippy fashion scene than I’d previously assumed.
Jeff created Ugmonk in response to the high saturation of cluttered design in the t-shirt fashion market, stripping back the redundant extremities of the over embellished style common to many labels at the moment, providing a stripped-back alternative, relying on the eternal qualities of line and composition. The first 100 of each of his designs include a limited edition screen-printed tag which is a very nice touch. read more
Charity T-Shirt from Psnob.com
I’m not quite sure what a PsnobÆ is but I’m guessing it might be short for ‘pretentious snob’, although the latest offering from the popular women’s clothing label at Psnob.com. Just because you offer high-end fashion couture for women doesn’t mean you and your customers don’t want to give back to the community, and that’s exactly what psnobÆ are doing until ‘Labor Day’, women can declare being a psnobÆ and help some of Atlanta’s neediest communities. Purchase a tee for $25.00 and a portion of the sale goes to Hands on Atlanta’s Gusto event, “A Taste for Volunteering”, September 5, 2008. For more information on psnobÆ and how to make purchases, log onto, www.psnob.com, and to find out more about Hands on Atlanta, or “A Taste for Volunteering” log onto, www.handsonatlanta.org
PsnobÆ have also set up a unique scheme whereby they allow organisations to auction off unique items from Rebecca Robinson’s collection to the highest bidder before part of the proceeds raised are contributed to one of many good causes listed at the site. As a matter of interest I’ve tracked down Psnob at Cafepress.com but you won’t find this featured t-shirt there! read more
Glamour Kills – Killer Tees
I stumbled across this crazy clothing store at BigCartel.com last night but I was too whacked to write about it, yes I’m an insomniac but even I have my limits. Glamour Kills design and sell all kinds of items, in fact their site seems to be a real hive of activity, truly a barmy army of fans out there for GK, but I’ll concentrate on their tees, as you’d expect.
Firstly what hits me is the sheer size of their prints, every design near enough smothers the whole front of everyone of their tees from neck to waist, and every colour as crisp and full as I would ever hope to see. This is what I’d class as an independent art tee label, they truly do live up to the title, sometimes their work leaves me a little confused, but I doubt there’s supposed to be much of a message behind their work as the fact that they relish fashion and style and project that passion through their clothing label.
Better Believe It is any sci-fi buff’s dream tee, a great deal of work obviously went into this t-shirt, I love the all-over printing, and the sentiment rings true, for all those who’d like to believe but don’t have the evidence!

Contrary To Rumours – I Am Still Alive! The Axis of T-Shirts, SEO, and Social Bookmarking.
Yes, turn your back on your blog for just a day or two and suddenly your inbox is filled with e-commiserations tentatively asking ‘where the hell is the beef Paul’?
I’ll tell you where the beef is, it’s creeping up behind you and aiming to actually form a real network around you, before you’ve even had a chance to close that browser page. Exaggerations aside, I am in the midst of building a few more t-shirt-related sites to pique your interest and eventually trap you in my Axis of T-Shirts – where no t-shirt creative or fanatic may ever escape alive. read more
