Not only do have a shopping cart (phew) but what’s more they’re throwing a party, and it’s free, and there’s food and drink and everything you could imagine!! Okay maybe I’ve gone a little too far there, but it still sounds fun to me, although I maybe rather out of the loop here on the blustery wintry south coast of Britain. If you want to join in the fun be at The Grand, 374 Somerville Avenue, Union Square, Somerville, Boston on December 4th between 6pm and 8pm or be square!

Besides it will get you away from that damn screen, so if you’re not here, on the other side of the world then you really should join in the celebrations for Ortega’s new Tees of The Future. Now don’t ask me why they’re from the future, I’m sure Dave will have a convincing argument for you when you get there.

His latest offering is his Geoskullz Tee, which is available in both olive and brown, and for some strange reason remind me of Argyle patterns, yes you probably need to be me to see that one.

If you look carefully you can even catch a glimpse of Dave’s beard, a sign of a true revolutionary, I’ve tried in the past but my gf complained, so there goes my chances of joining the cause :p It’s a simple design, but it works, there’s little more I can say, I suppose I could delve (once again) into the meaning of the skull image, but I haven’t eaten my dinner yet, so I’ll leave it to you to ponder.

Here’s my favourite by Dave, I love the confidence in sloppy line, which believe me is the desired effect in this case. Winter Was Hard is a fantastic t-shirt, something to confuse the old and amaze the young, again as simple as you could wish for but extremely effective.

My particular soft spot for this must stem back to a childhood love for monster comics and illustrations, I know, it’s just a guy frozen by a long hard winter (sounds familiar – checking my fingers for frostbite), but it’s almost Scooby Doo in character. You know, a guy in a scary costume who, by the end of the show, is bound (contractually no doubt) to bark at the groovy teenage detectives “I would’ve got away with it if it wasn’t for you meddling kids”.

Now is this a Werewolf Tee as shown at the tees page or is it a mystery? For argument’s sake I’ll call it the Mystery Tee, however if you ask me it’s the headless ghost who likes to haunt the cheerleaders who picked on them in a former life, even the pom-poms have a sinister look about them.

Incase you’re feeling a little shaken up by the last tee (:p) then this one is bound to cheer you up, it’s called Happy Tree, and it definitely does the job, I like trees, I especially like happy trees, this has to be the happiest I’ve come across in a long time!

It’s amazing isn’t it? Perhaps just amazingly awful. I’m not usually one for gadgets, read my rant on water-cooled t-shirts! Besides it doesn’t look like it’ll be long before everyone starts selling advertising space on their chest, they’ll probably even be able to detect impressions and clicks and BlueTooth it to the nearest available stockist. Then of course the salesbot will be chasing you down the street just because you threw a glance at a damn flashy t-shirt. Ah well, I digress, that’s the future, and you can keep it.

No, I’m breaking with tradition this one time, and if I was a little, well a lot younger, and single, and sozzled for the weekend, I’d probably be out clubbing with this on. Why? Well, it actually works, it’s not a hologram, it’s a real digital readout, it actually displays sounds levels, like a real graphic equalizer does! But that isn’t the best part, oh no, it has to be the comments on the sales page.

It’s a classic – “Mark – England Bought one for my mate, loved it myself that Iv got one now. We wear them to go clubbing and have all the lasses after us :P”. Lasses if you’re not au fait with the Northern English dialect means “women”. So there you have it, the greatest t-shirt ever made for man. I don’t care if it’s gimmicky, I can ignore the nagging feeling that perhaps this “digital readout” might not be quite as flexible as I first thought (who knows, send me a sample and I’ll tell you!). However Mark does have a good point about the lasses :p

It’s so uncool it has turned full circle and become cool again. I love retro t-shirts, retro art in general, it’s rather difficult to quantify, however I know it when I see it, and this is it. Beyond that, it is instant retro, fashion gadgets, someone needs to keep this one in the wrapper for the t-shirt museum (I know, I know, I throw these ideas away everyday :p ). My point is that someone with no idea about fashion has managed to create an instant retro classic, with the feel and basic technology of an old Arcade game, it won’t be long before lasses will be playing Pacman on strange lads chests across the country.

I’ll be missing out on the experience, but if you do buy one, post us a piccie of you surrounded by adoring lasses in the nightclub just to prove we are seeing history in the making here. Overall I am pretty much bowled over how such a simple idea can work so well. The bio-rhythmic feel, the fact that the colours respond to sound, the ethereal display of the technology at work as the beats roll by, I can see how, with enough drinks inside you it would probably rival the TV by five in the morning :)
