Shirt Of The Month At Beautiful Decay

Now not a lot of people know this but Beautiful Decay feature one of their latest shirts every month, unsurprisingly it’s called “Shirt of the Month” and August has turned up a real corker even by BD’s standards. August’s S.O.T.M is entitled Pharoh and is by the rather fascinating artist Aya Kato who’s influences range from Anime, Manga, and traditional Japanese art to the French Art Nouveau movement.

A common theme runs through all of Kato’s works, that being one of fantasy and myth, and the transformation of these near primordial narratives in to a complex and in some cases astounding fruition. Kato is rather well known online, apart from Kato’s website which I have visited many times before, just take a look at Google Images where you’ll find 1000s of examples of this unique artist’s interpretation of culture versus tradition. Plus of course there are a whole host of other Aya Kato designs at BD such as Rokurokubi, Alice, Kaguya and Spider. You can see many more of her awe inspiring t-shirts designs here.
