T-Shirt Hell
TshirtHell.com is one of the most popular t-shirt stores on the Net. We can’t feature most of their designs here as they are inappropriate for a family audience, which kind of says it all really! The site is very popular with bikers and the Emo/Goth crowd. Plenty of one-liners tackling just about every bad taste subject under the sun, consenting adults will certainly feel they have entered hell when they see their range, that is if hell is as funny as it is awful. I have to admit the website design is somewhat lacking in comparison to their major rivals such as BustedTees.com. The black background and rather confusing montage on the homepage may help a handful of design flaws, however I suspect this is more for the benefit of Google.com and other Search Engines rather than their audience.
Inside the store the black theme continues, there are literally thousands of t-shirts, including bad taste t-shirts for kids (which I find rather questionable). However, when it comes to bad taste t-shirts for adults, if you have to indulge, this is certainly the place to visit. Their prices are very reasonable, I am sure by this stage they are working on an enormous scale, e.g. a vintage tee in blonde yellow with a 3 colour print is just $18 USD plus shipping. When you consider that they pay their affiliate webmasters $4 USD per sale it means that they are working to rather a low profit margin. Unless as I suspect they have half a million t-shirts in stock and their own printer – hence perhaps the most professional back room operation for any t-shirt retailer online.
Let me just say that if you are not easily offended, in fact you’re incapable of being offended ,then this is the site for you. I myself try to tread the line more carefully, some of my t-shirts are controversial, but none are intended to offend everyone and everything outright. Perhaps I am a coward, perhaps I come from a more politically correct background, whatever the reasons, the penance for this outrageously cavalier approach to selling t-shirts has made TshirtHell.com one of the biggest players on the net is hate mail.
T Shirt Hell have even had to remove their “Worse than Hell” section of the website after their original owner Aaron Landau Schwarz (now owned by Sunshine Megatron) was poisoned by an angry protester. I would say I was a very open-minded soul, but even I found some of their slogan t-shirts particularly offensive. I cannot imagine how many arguments, and even public street brawling must have been sparked off by these t-shirts. I won’t defend a majority of their designs, however I will always defend the principles of free speech which this company are testing to the limits.
