Boys & Co
First off most of you are painfully aware of my aversion for typographic tees, yet I can’t help but admire the enthusiasm and all-out gusto emanating from Christopher Russell, the guy behind the fashion brand Boys & Co. Before you ask, their tees are for boys and girls. I’m not too keen on the brand name, it causes a little confusion amongst the sexes, and to be honest it sounds like a dodgy 80′s dance troupe to me :0
On a more positive note the site looks like a lot of fun, with a big, loud and friendly splash page that leads on to a very sound collection of slogan t-shirts. Unfortunately the header graphic for their Big Cartel store is too large and it really detracts from the shopping experience. Still, Chris seems to have a knack for picking the right font for the right job, the prints are generous, the tees are American Apparel so that means sweatshop free, and the general underlying message leans towards the positively kooky. Here’s a little reading matter for you… in t-shirt form.
No Riffraff Tee
If your name’s not down you’re not coming in… a rather pricey $30 in sizes S-XL. Is riffraff one word or two? Hmm…
Do You Know Who My Father Is Tee
Hilarious. $25 in sizes S-L.
This Old Thing Tee
When you just can’t take any more compliments (give them to me). $30 S-L.
I Shut It Down In NYC Tee
Who turned out the lights? $25 S-XL.
Chris has big plans for the future – with prospects for the line to include jeans, button ups, jackets and jewels – there’s even an underwear campaign in the works.
In the meantime let us end with the immortal words of the urban Bard that is Christopher Russell… “I AM THE BIGGEST pAArty Ever, WE are the BIGGEST pAArty Ever.”
(I’ll get me coat.)
Limerence
Limerence is a small indie clothing company run by Doug DeMarra. Doug offers a fascinating selection of photo montage tees and a back story to match. A 23-year-old graphic designer from good old “Amish-town” Lancaster, Pennsylvania who fled to the bright lights of the NYC to escape the stifling boredom of “horse buggies, stinky cows, and long rows of cornfields”. After gaining some experience in New York, he fled back home with a new passion for fashion design. He spends his spare time, when not designing and printing his tees, collecting old prints for his creations. He’s a familiar sight in many of the thrift shops in Pennsylvania, hunting down vintage magazines, yearbooks, and newspaper clippings dating from before 1974. For example a 1950’s issue of LIFE magazine featuring ducks migrating south, or his parent’s yearbooks, retro posters, prints, you name it – his inspiration is drawn from all kinds of retro paraphernalia. In case you’re wondering “limerence” means “a crush” – as in infatuation – nice brand name!
There are just four shirts available as of now, although Limerence has only been going a couple of months so I’m sure we can expect plenty more soon. All are available for $12 each in S-L sizes depending on availability. They’re all printed with eco ink too! Here are my two faves so far…
School Collage Tee
Very Dada, I love the blend of typography and photo-montage, Constructivist style and nostalgic themes. Über kewl.
Flying Hearts Tee
Very romantic, rather dreamy, perfect for cracking the post-Emo market. This one’s for the girls in M/L for $12.

Kinkiking
Mad name, superb tees, in fact it’s been a long old while since I’ve stumbled upon a label that ticks all the boxes. Kinkiking has four brands under one roof, Tokyo Toxics, Celebritees, Kinkiking and Prin T Error, and they all rock. Honest guv‘. This find is all down to Twitter, if they hadn’t tracked me down there I’d probably have missed them altogether. They’re based in Barcelona and generally, design-wise at the very least, completely and utterly have their finger on the pulse. There are definitely some instant classics in their collection too, I can’t get their Bathman out of my mind, a rather disturbing sight, especially if you’re an old school comic fan. Their infectious sense of humour spreads with other memorable tees like Mr. Rubrik and Toast Rider.
Gundam Tee
If you love your Manga but want it strawberry flavoured then here is your chance. €21 each for guys (M/L/XL) and €23 for girls (M/L). Of course the sexy model isn’t included.
MECHAel Jackson Tee
Jacko is long gone, but MECHAel Jackson is on a worldwide tour courtesy of Tokyo Toxics. Available for girls in M/L €23 and guys M-XL €21.
The Bathman Tee
This is a newbie from their sub-label Celebritees and probably would’ve been one of my favourites of 2011 if it wasn’t for the print size – big is definitely better. Still, besides the titchy print, I love the concept!! If I was a Kinkiking artist I’d seriously consider launching a comic book, who knows, a movie deal might just be around the corner? Available for girls in M/L €25 and guys M-XL €21.
Mr. Rubrik Tee
Another serious contender from the Celebritees series, love it. Available for girls in M/L €23 and guys M-XL €21.
If you want to see how Mr. Rubrik ended up like that then watch this…
Cold Coffee Tee
There’s nothing worse than a cold coffee, well actually there is plenty worse, but still, this is a great take on a rather annoying theme for me. Let me just take a sip of my coffee… urrggh. Get this snazzy little tee for girls in M/L €25 and guys M-XL €21.
There’s plenty more on offer including superb buttons and badges, and some mad hats, plenty of videos to keep you occupied, and they’re socially hooked up everywhere, Behance, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube. This is one organised label! In their spare time, Kinkiking, which is jam-packed with some great artists and designers like spend their spare time (when they have any) reading comics, rocking out and spraying and pasting Barcelona with their unique street art. If it’s urban, if it’s art, if it’s in Barcelona, they are there. See more cool tees at www.Kinkiking.com!
Think Peace Tee
Hey I know that Xmas is over but what the heck, let’s keep that feel good feeling going on for as long as we can. To help keep your spirits up check out the Think Peace Tee by Cultural Cotton. It’s available for just $12 right now in women’s large sizes and unisex sizes S-XXL. BTW they’ve an extra deal for you, “60% 40% 20% OFF selected t-shirts plus free shipping when you order $25.00 or more!”. Work that one out for yourselves.
Think Peace Tee
That is one sweet design, I’m surprised no one has thought of it before. If I was Cultural Cotton’s head designer I’d do the same with the anarchy symbol i.e.

Who know it might happen? Look at me giving away design ideas, what am I like? Anyway, I’m sure it would go down well at all the festivals CC visit!

See them all here.
Fragile But Bearable Tee
Old Tree Designs is definitely a new kid on the block, for a start there’s only one shirt up for sale right now, but it’s a goodie, if you like cute, which perhaps because of the remains of a post Christmas high blood alcohol count I’m more than in the mood for. Don’t worry fellow grumps, I will be regaining my usual dour aspect in the very near future. Still, ahhh.
Fragile But Bearable Tee
Cute and cuddly limited edition tee for women (guys sizes have run out!) available in S-L for $20 each.
Here’s the story on OTD… Pedro runs a little clothing line called old tree designs – right now he’s still attending high school in Massachusetts and wants a career in graphic design and hopes that one day he can sell his limited t- shirts around the world because he loves fashion and designing. His clothing brand took off when he started selling buttons/pins at just 13 year old! Now there’s an artist with marketing skills!
Loviu Up and Running
Excuse the late news but as you might know, I’ve actually taken a break this Xmas (phew). Loviu have over 200 t-shirt designs up for the voting stages at their brand spanking new t-shirt community based in Slovakia. There are a couple of beauts up for sale two, one for the next 24(ish) hours and the other for a week…
Griffin Tee
The beautifully drawn (almost like an old Mexican woodcut) Griffin Tee by Gaunty is on offer now for $12 each. S-XL for girls and guys.
Mr Myself Tee
A cute and bubbly style shirt by mon’ry is on offer for the week at $18 each. S-XL for girls and guys.
Get voting for the next one at www.loviu.com!
Wisper Tee
I took a break for Xmas and my birthday which was (as it happens) New Year’s Eve. Anyway back on with the blogging… This little number comes courtesy of ImpekGear.com – I’m not too keen on the other designs, but their Wisper Tee makes up for it. I’ve been reliably told the name of this shirt isn’t a spelling mistake, rather a play on words. Their logo contains three stars or “wisps” that seem to represent something about universal energy but I’ve had my fill of hippy talk for a lifetime so here’s the tee instead…
Wisper Tee
Cute! Sure it could do without the logo, but still a nice design, rather French in style. This tee is available for ladies in black for $25 each, in sizes small to large with a printed inner tag.
