Lead & Light
Lead & Light are an Indiana-based indie tee brand offering a selection of outstanding grunge shirts. Each is individually hand printed at East Fork Studio print shop on a 4 colour silkscreen press. The average price is usually $15 each plus shipping and sizes range between XS and XXL. Graphically there’s something superbly retro about the collection, half way between Gothic and Punk, lingering on the sidelines of a Joy Division album cover, tempered by the wear and tear of a two-bit life on the bad side of town.
In case you’re wondering about the name of this particularly grungetastic label, the word “Lead” is indeed a reference to the element and not leadership. My initials make up Lead’s chemical symbol, abbreviated from the Latin word “Plumbum”. I think you can guess the amount of grief I had at school for that one. Oh happy days.
Feast your eyes on these:
Sleep Tee
You are feeling very…
Telemanipulation Tee
Open your mind.
Satellite Tee
The all seeing eye.
Static Tee
White light, white noise.

Don of the Jungle Tee
Buy Tees featured the label Wolves vs. Lions last October so it was nice to hear from then again. They’ve released a rather snazzy new t-shirt called Don of the Jungle which is their biggest print yet mind you, plus a discount code to celebrate their sixth tee. Just enter their 10% promo code SESTO (sixth in Italian) at the checkout.
Don of the Jungle Tee
Available for both men (S-XL) and women (XS-L) for $18 each in black.
WVL are in the process of moving stores from Big Cartel to StoreEnvy right now, so some of their site links will need updating. Funny, that’s the third label in weeks I’ve seen move from one to the other Anyway see the rest of WVL’s shirts at their new store: www.wolvesvslions.storenvy.com.
Calculus Hero Tee
Gump Tees are nerdy and proud, if its mathematical they’re on the case. They offer a selection of funny nerd t-shirts in sizes S-XL for guys all at $18 each. Their Calculus Hero Tee stands out by a mile…
Calculus Hero Tee
A great spoof on Guitar Hero, which for anyone over 30 with even the slightest ability in music… totally sucks. At least music games seem to be moving on now, as in you can play or rather learn to play ‘real’ instruments. In the meantime, one talent that has evaded me since the age of 11 is calculus, now that is a doozy. If the world ran on the lines of brains over beauty and brawn, every nerd would be a hero! Get this kewl tee for guys in sizes S-XL for $18.
25% Off At SocialFabrik
You can get a whopping 25% off all the tees at SocialFabrik.co.uk this month in their January Sale. Just enter the code ‘JANUARYSALE‘ at the checkout!
The Fresh Clothing 2011
The Fresh Clothing releases a behind-the-scenes look into the brand’s approach to how their limited edition clothing is made. The video follows NJ screen printer and skateboarder, Jesse Sikorski through his print warehouse. Whilst providing a preview of the Winter 2011 line, the clip also boasts the underground and DIY influences that help define the brand.
The Fresh is a New Jersey-based, punk-inspired streetwear brand. Further information is available at www.thefreshclothing.com.
Tee-Issue
Tee-Issue is a t-shirt community with a difference, they’re guided by a series of values, and noble ones at that. “Love. Freedom. Dreams. Children’s rights. Environmental preservation.” For all those who wear their heart on their sleeve, perhaps its time to consider wearing it on your chest. If you’d like to jump in at the deep end and share Tee-Issue’s love of storytellling and moral highground, have a strong design background and want to get involved then contact them at designs@tee-issue.com.
If you’d rather do a little shopping then check out these shirts, ranging from $35 to $40 each and in various cuts and sizes, there is a naive yet rather charming range of designs on offer.
Swing Not Wii Tee
Get this cutie (for the ladies) in sizes S-L for $35. Funny thing about the Wii, why don’t they just connect it to an exercise machine and get it over with – or at the very least add a few pounds weight to that controller :p
Spring Fling Tee
Is a Spring Fling something like a holiday fling? It seems to be mandatory if you’re a Brit in Ibiza. Ah well, nice tee, cool style too, get this unisex shirt for $35 in sizes S-L.
A Sip of Love Tee
A gorgeous ladies tee, this and the next are printed on both sides hence the price hike. Great value all the same. Rather French in appearance which would probably go down well in St. Tropez, then again you’d probably be wearing a Monokini :0 Ladies can get their sip of love for $40 in sizes S-L.
Mirror Tee
Mirror is very childlike in style and character, but the overall composition leans towards the profound. Something like a Bergman scene painted by a kindergarten Picasso. This and most of the tees at Tee-Issue definitely evoke a more painterly style. Very refreshing! $40 in sizes S-L.

Leon Vault Tees For Sale – Finally!
At last, it’s been a long old time coming, but it seems that Leon Vault has finally set up an online store to sell their unique arty tees. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you can read all about LV in this review of another label their designers work for. All the shirts at this unique Aussie label are available as scoop, crew and singlet tees for $59 AUD each and crew jumpers at $99 AUD each. Sizes generally range between S-L depending on the cut.
These shirts speak for themselves… dead classy.
Oh Deer Tee
A dream within a dream.
Dead Man Tee
I’ve been to parties like that.
Oh Mercy Tee
The pic is blurry but the design looks gorge…
Stand Still Tee
Miniaturisation has a lot to answer for.
I think LV should sort out some more pics, maybe a zoom function, at least some larger images, it all helps – anyway see more arty tees at www.LeonVault.com.
Win A Free Tee @ Crazy Like That
To celebrate their 2nd anniversary in business or as geek t-shirt site CrazyLikeThat.com aptly puts it. their “terrible two’s”, they’re giving away a seconds geek t-shirt every month for a year. They promise any faults with their seconds tees are almost imperceptible, in fact you probably won’t even notice any flaws, and besides they’re freebies :D
If you love your chic geek, then you might want to feed your mind as well as your wardrobe as Crazy Like That are also giving away a second-hand geek book every month too. This month it’s the The Hungry Scientist Handbook – yummy.
Anyway first off in the t-shirt contest is CLT’s…

Laser Cut Tees at PERF
If graphic tees, or rather printed graphics aren’t your thing then check out the label PERF. They laser cut their tees with all sorts of patterns including stars, numbers, and other abstract designs. I’m a little disappointed that they don’t sew in their own coloured linings, they sell separate blank coloured tees to go underneath, but there’s nothing stopping you mixing and matching with your own. All their shirts are available via their Etsy store at between $35 and $40 each which is a little pricey, however this is a new concept and they’re not exactly mass produced, right now there are just five laser cut tees on sale. Their blanks (if you choose to buy one) are $12 each.
Flapper Pattern Tee
Star Field Pattern Tee
00:00 Pattern Tee
Triangle Array Pattern Tee
No.8 Patttern Tee
It’d be nice if PERF included a coloured (sewn-in) lining and beefed up their selection, still, top marks for innovation I say!
Although the market might be catching up, I don’t normally feature Spreadshirt tees but seeing as it’s laser cut…
Cinder Ratte Tee
£21.06 including lining. It’s sold out right now though.
Here’s another laser cut…
Armani Exchange Laser Cut Tee
Available in XL at Amazon now for just £24.
Expect plenty more of these in the future.
Veni Vidi Vici Tee
Here’s a rather classy/classic tee from Unknown Artifact.
Veni Vidi Vici Tee
It’s by Robert Gould, a versatile illustrator based in Cali. You can buy this tee, screen printed by hand with water based inks for a piddling $10. Now that’s a bargain. Available in sizes S-XXL for men and S-XL for women.
Whilst I’m at it check out this rather kewl kid’s shirt for $12 in size 8 (USA size) -
Einstein Wearing 3D Glasses Tee
