New Dark Bunny Tees
Dark Bunny Tees are going from strength to strength with their new additions to the collection, as usual venturing into the world of movies, yet adding their inimitable and usually rather hilarious take on some of the most cherished cult, horror, sci-fi and action blockbusters of all-time including the latest Golden Globe gobbling Avatar from James Cameron. Alex, the illustrating dynamo behind the label has certainly been very busy these last few months with an impressive half dozen more tees on offer, here are three of my faves to wet your appetite…
Shaun of the Dead T-shirt

Shaun of the Dead is definitely my all-time second favourite zombie movie, and depending on my mood a close contender for first. I love Dawn of the Dead, the original George A. Romero version of course, [REC] is a relatively recent addition to the genre and well worth watching, The Crazies is more of a pandemic movie (new version out this year), but SOTD is the only movie that has ever managed to make me laugh at zombies in a good way. Not because of the terrible effects like many I could mention. The truth is I am a serious Simon Pegg fan, I loved all his TV work, Spaced, Zombies, even the ugh ugh ugh song on Big Train. So excuse the bias when I say that DB’s Fried Gold Recruitment Farm t-shirt rocks my world! If you’ve seen SOTD then you’ll know that kept under the right conditions, on a chain, zombies can still perform simple and repetitive tasks. Dark Bunny has taken the idea to a whole new level, and who knows if Pegg and Wright ever clap eyes on this, they might even use the idea for a sequel heh. Get this amazing tee for £25 in sizes S to XXL (Free Shipping in the UK).
Anchorman T-shirt

The Anchorman T-shirt (full name Anchorman : Sex Panther) is as expected a hilarious design, in keeping with one of the most ridiculous movies (in a good way) ever made. Most will say you either love Will Ferrell or you hate him, or perhaps you love to hate him, whatever, he’s damn funny, and it’s no put on for the cameras. The guy is like a hyperactive kid on too much candy who can’t help jumping on his bed for no reason. I’m not a big fan of spoof films in general, except perhaps Airplane, all the others since have kind of sucked, but when the spoof is less literal, evoking a time, a place, rather than referencing a bunch of blockbuster movies from the past, I love it. Anchorman is a homage to a time when sexism ran rife, as did bad ties, and dodgy potions like Spanish Fly rumoured (falsely) to enhance “sexual attraction”. In Anchorman “Sex Panther” is all the rage, in fact there’s a site that sells it as a joke cologne, but I must reiterate, it doesn’t work, even if you don the flares, half open shirt and gold medallion to boot. The Anchorman tee is available for £25, it’s a very limited edition, just 100 will be sold worldwide, available in sizes S to XXL (Free Shipping in the UK).
Star Wars T-shirt

Perhaps my favourite tee at DB so far, the Star Wars – Meet The Skywalkers tee throws a true curveball into the collection. Unlike the usual illustrative perfection expected of Dark Bunny, this one appears to have been drawn by a kid, the sort of thing you’d find proudly displayed with the aid of fridge magnets by a proud parent. Which is why it is so funny, I’m really impresed with the authenticity of this design, deceptively detailed and perfectly conceived. I love the original Star Wars triology, the later three suck big time as far as I am concerned, they feel more like video game adaptations. I am sure that somewhere along the way George Lucas must have sold his soul to the devil because no one in their right mind would have ever conjured up a character like the awful (beyond belief) Jaja Binx. If you’re feeling nostalgic, have a great sense of humour, and £25 spare then you can get this shirt in sizes S to XXL in 4 vintage colours (Free Shipping in the UK).
