Flying Mouse aka Chow Hon Lam from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is gaining a god-like status in the world of t-shirt design, he’s won tons of contests at Threadless and even if you don’t recognise the name you will surely recognise the work. In fact I have mentioned his work before here, but in all honesty Chow deserves far far more exposure, and it seems that others agree. There’s a great interview with Lam at Threadless which reveals a little of the machinations of this great mind, but I know what you all want, and that’s some eye candy so I promise I’ll get straight to the tees.

One last thing though, in case you haven’t come across his own store yet do check out www.FlyingMouse365.com where you can really get a taste of exactly how prolific the guy is. Every t-shirt at the store is available for just seven days, right now there are seven tees on sale, think about it, he must knock out a design everyday! That is for lack of a better word, incredible. These are not simple illustrations either, he has an amazing graphic style, with the humour of Glennz and the lush line and composition of any winner at sites like Design By Humans. An incredible piece of surreal design, beautiful line, I mean as good as it gets, and a massive nod and a wink towards the graffiti sticker culture. This girl’s eye is literally a sticker lol. I Love Sushi Tee

You got it, sick in more ways than one, beautiful, a modern surrealist classic and I am sure a metaphor for something deep that I can’t muster up this early on a Saturday morning. Unfortunately all but the XS sizes for guys are sold out but if you’re of the female persuasion you’re in luck, you can get this tee now for just $12 in all sizes. Bargain of the century…

Hair T-shirt

Now I know you’re going to think it’s a tease, but this amazing shirt design is out of stock, the fact is I wanted to show you exactly why you have to keep an eye on www.FlyingMouse365.com – if you don’t you miss out on some of the most incredible t-shirt designs ever made. Look at the light in this work, check that hair, incredible, it’s almost as if Chow cut the hair and stuck it down. This is a masterful piece of illustration, let’s just hope they decide on a reprint one day.

Halftoning Tee

Here’s your chance to help Chow win yet another contest at Threadless with this future classic, the Halftoning Tee. In case you’re not aware, halftones are how printers, especially those who publish comics, can get a maximum spread of colour with just four – otherwise known as CMYK (which is an abbreviation for Cyan Magenta Yellow Black – yes I know it says ‘K’ but that refers back to the ‘Key plate’ when printing used to used engraved metal plates). Love the concept, perfect resolution of an idea brought to fruition, very sweet and rather uplifting for Chow’s work in general. It’s still got a few days left on the votes, so if you’re a Threadless member get down there now and give it a boost ;)
