Das Monk Season V
Das Monk have returned with their latest collection, after cogitating on the deeper meanings of life, the universe and the collective works of acclaimed late director Stanley Kubrick their attention has turned to everything from war to deep space exploration to ultra-violence and futuristic narcotics by the way of such classic movies as Dr. Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Designer Marc Hendrick and his faithful team of artists including Tim Laing, Evan Meister, Daniel Brereton, and Lydia Ortiz have all contributed to the latest offerings from the inimitable divine hermit of fashion, Das Monk.
DM have been going from strength to strength since our last review, now selling in stores in over 30 stores worldwide. Their reputation for the meticulously psychedelic and cold surrealism are garnering greater and greater audiences across the globe, with fans in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada, their tees have been given the official cult seal of approval by big music scene names such as Diplo, Busy P, The Cool Kids and Tiga. Let us meditate on DM’s new tees, and may your cup of Moloko Synthemesc always runneth over.
Space Face Tee
![]() |
Probably my fave of the collection, Space Face is also available in Royal Blue, both priced at AU$ 59.95 which unfortunately right now is almost on par in USD at $54.95 (blame the greedy investment banks for that one), I mean even the GDP is worthless these days lol. Anyway let’s forget money for a moment and admire the beauty of this tee, they’ve just found another ring around Saturn recently which is supposed to be wide enough to fit a billion planet Earths inside it, makes you think, makes you think damn can we get a bigger planet pronto? I’m sure many of us have our sights set on the stars these days, revolving round on this comparable meteorite for the past few million years has lost its appeal for the human race, still look after it, it’s all you have. Get this tee in white or royal blue in sizes S to XL.
The End Tee
![]() |
Offering a nod and a wink to Dr. Strangelove, The End offers up an iconography most familiar with the 20th Century, in the midst of the Cold War most school kids across the world were taught to duck and cover, i.e if they drop a nuclear bomb then a thin wooden desk should save you. So much for government advice. I’d lean more towards Jim Morrison‘s attitude towards the subject, but then again I am a miserable bleeder, I suppose its come down to space, in more ways than one. Unless someone reading this has a photon drive design up their sleeve we’ll have to worry about a more pedestrian version of space, as in how much we have left. We don’t need to drop a bomb anymore to destroy the world, just keep on breeding, and breeding, and breeding. See you on the other side. Available for $AU 59.95 in white, sizes S to XL.
Black Adders Tee

Beautifully drawn by Tim Laing, the Black Adders tee has nothing to do with the classic BBC comedy Black Adder, but rather an age old symbol of infinity – although instead of the traditional Dayak myth image of a snake eating itself here we are presented with a mandala of snakes entwined. I’m sure there’s more than one deep meaning behind this illustration but what matters is that it looks great, and that works well for most. Great tonality and detail, another superb addition to the Das Monk collection, available for $AU 59.95 in white, sizes M to XL.
