Unicorn T Shirts – Not Just For Hippies!
Now I know what you’re thinking, but no I haven’t run off with the gypsies with flowers in my hair playing my mandolin under an impossibly technicolor rainbow, those days are long behind me. Although a recent email from UnicornsRock.com did make me smile. Asides from correcting some of our HTML coding at the Buy Tees blog, they’re pretty insistent that unicorn tees are the next big thing. They’re fighting against the tide of logic and mundanity in the world and reinventing the unicorn in a new, funny, sarcastic and rather catchy new way.
The guys reading this might be able to relate to a minor horror story of mine, in much the same way Rawson Marshall Thurber’s Dodgeball featured a woman obsessed with unicorns, I once entered the bed chamber of a similarly fanatic girl in my late teens and to this day the sight of 100s of stuffed, plastic, printed and giant sized unicorns is still burned on to the back of my retinas. I think that horse with a dodgy horn in Bladerunner, the one with a protuberance that swayed from side to side like a bizarre adult toy might have finally finished off any smidgeon of empathy I could have found for this mythical creature. Still, I’m a grumpy old bloke now, set in my ways, and yet even I managed to muster a chuckle or two at this new unicorn t-shirt brand.
They offer everything from zombie unicorn to gay unicorn t-shirts, there’s even a Batman unicorn tee on offer, although personally I’d have renamed it ‘batnicorn’, but still you get the drift. Do check out Unicorns Rock at Twitter for plenty more info, hook up with them at Facebook and check out more of their pics at their Flickr. Every shirt is $19 plus free US shipping, they offer wholesale or for those who don’t want to make a mint if you buy 2 of their shirts you get a 3rd for $5 which can’t be bad. So – sit on the nearest toadstool, brush the fairy dust from your eyes, and open your mind to the world of the funny unicorn t-shirt. Yeah man… read more

Scientific Beach Boys Tee @ Miss Wit
Miss Wit have just released an Early Beach Boys Song Topics tee, this design has a long and venerable history, at least in Internet terms. It all began when college humour writers Jeff Rubin and Dan Meth (famous for such cultural highlights as Internet People) got chatting one day about all the cultural Venn diagrams that Dan had been making, and agreed that the Beach Boys’ early career would be a perfect addition. Their later career, from ‘Pet Sounds‘ onwards would of course involve all sorts of random factors like drugs and depression.
The design has been featured in The New York Times and the UK’s Guardian, and now it’s a t-shirt, true fame at last I’d say. Anyway take a look at some pics… read more

T-Shirt Mash Ups @ Nonsek
Life is getting more interactive every day, more and more companies are fighting hard to allay the fears of the recession, offering customised and personalised products to relieve the consumer doldrums. You name it someone somewhere can offer you that something little extra, gold plated and monogrammed iPods, pick your own toppings and sauces at a string of high street restaurants, cars with all the accessories and upgrades imaginable, if you can buy it, someone is selling a better version out there.
The t-shirt industry has gone through a similar reinvention over the last decade, with more and more people adept at graphic design, mainly down to advances in all sorts of software, sites like Cafepress and Spreadshirt have turned their attention to personalised tees. Essentially giving you a chance to upload your own images to almost anything, be it tees, sweats, hoodies, even cups and mouse-mats. But there’s a problem, rather a big problem in fact, and that is that the vast majority of people out there neither have the inclination or the time to both create and design their own t-shirts, they’d like to have some input, mixing like a DJ, rather than performing like a singer-songwriter. The truth is most people want to have a little fun, experience a more entertaining shopping experience, and as a result create and buy an original shirt they’d be proud to wear. Not spend hours on end scribbling out their ideas and hoping for the best.
This third way, an interactive t-shirt design and shopping experience without the tedium of using graphic design software, which is on offer at Nonsek.com. Their unique service, and I mean, there really is no other like it out there right now, draws on a vast resource of great t-shirt ideas, art by artists with a true sense of imagination, and lets you mix them up, again and again if needed, until you’ve created the perfect tee for that gig, club, vacation or simply to lounge around and impress the other half.
Nonsek offers a very simple navigational system, there’s a choice of artist channels, or for the more adventurous the Nonsek Machine which in essence remixes your favourite designs and artists into something truly special. This site offers a great opportunity for both t-shirt artists and fans to really have some fun, and don’t worry, you won’t be trawling through pages of junk (as you might at say Cafepress) to find something you like!
Instead of the usual Buy Tees review, I’m going to show you through the process of remixing your own tee at Nonsek, let’s get mashing! read more
I Came From Nothing
I Came From Nothing is a hardcore collective of top t-shirt designers, this exciting underground brand is based in the UK and offers Brits free shipping on all their gloriously gory tees. If you’re into lush illustrations and punk-style design then you’re definitely feel at home at www.icamefromnothing.com. You’ll find a string of top notch artists under their belt, although they’re always scouting for excellence, so if you think you can make the grade contact them here. ICFN are all over the social networking scene including Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and offer all the latest updates on their range at their blog.
Their current collection certainly hits you the moment you enter the store, everything from monsters and zombies to killer panda bears, there’s one thing that ties almost all the designs together and that’s a love of salubrious gore. The site is very easy to navigate, features a rather hot model to keep the guys amused, in one shot she’s actually wielding a bloody knife so a word of caution for the faint hearted, you’re probably not going to want to hang around. For those made of stronger stuff get ready for the best of the best in graphic nightmares. Every tee is up for sale at a reasonable £20, when you consider the quality of the designs and shirts and the amount of work that’s gone into each illustration that’s a relative bargain. Some take their cue from old school horror comics, others subvert classic monster genres, and some are just downright hilarious (if you have a dark sense of humour) like their Skull Kid tee.
Update: Exclusive 20% Discount Code Off All ICFN Tees – Enter the code: BuyTees at the checkout!
Anyway… let’s raise the dead and have a party, to kick off here are some of my fave tees on offer at ICFN… read more

Delusional or not you can always boost your ego, or at the very least provide all your friends with a big laugh by following the cue of Anthony Colarusso, the man behind MyFaceShirt who’s come up with the ridiculously funny idea of printing his his own face on every t-shirt he creates, well that’s how the plan started out, to make himself instantly famous by selling tees featuring his mugshot for the world to learn to love.
