The Joys Of Despair – Despair Wear

Despair Wear Tees Despair.com are probably most famous for their demotivational posters, they look very similar to those awful motivational posters you used to find in any office obsessed with team building, but their t-shirt collection is coming on very nicely and I thought it was about time to take another peek at what their offering up.

They’ve dumped almost all of the poster clone tees and gone for some very slick and at times very funny humour t-shirts, a lot of them seem to fall into two camps, either the government (and especially the economic mess we all find ourselves in today) and the Internet, that might not sound too sexy to a lot of readers but I assure you they’ve turned out a rather fine series of witty tees a cut above the usual. It’s nice to see they’re developing more and more ‘non-boxy’ designs, a lot of their older ones used to be printed at the same proportions of their posters which meant one rectangular image after another, not so now though.

Then again there are quite a few cool slogan tees too, such as Time For Action which reads ‘The Time For Action Is Past. Now is the time for senseless bickering’ and their Corruption shirt which states ‘End Corruption. Or at least let me participate in it’. But as you might have guessed I’ll focus on their newer range of cooler, hipper, brighter, bolder graphic tees which have taken the brand in a new direction of visually pleasing lower than low humour. Life is filled with misery, it’s nice to see a label being honest about it for once, and with such as sharp tongued wit and an infectious attitude towards the bleak reality of much of society, I’m sure their following which is already pretty much massive by most people’s measure, will only grow and grow.

Mug Shot Tee

Mugshot Tee by Despair Wear

Probably the greatest trompe l’oeil tee I’ve come across so far, Mugshot is so uncool it’s cool, this t-shirt perfectly mimics a mugshot tag, I’m sure this t-shirt sells well in the hood and the cop stations alike. Hilarious. Sizes S to XXXL price ranges from $19.95 – $21.95.

Social Media Venn Diagram Tee

I love off the wall venn diagrams, this one depicts that sad and futile possibilities of social networking, and it does it rather well. I love the fact that they’ve decided to place Twitter at the centre of all things self-obsessive. I myself have a Twitter account, I’ve set up my blogs to feed it the occassional tweet, that’s input for this particular platform, unlike some of the mad people who I find myself following, usually for no other reason than they have done the same for me, let’s just say they take the opportunity to record every waking moment of their lives. However dull and inane. Good to see mentions for narcissism and ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) which explains a lot about most online activity in general. Look at me I’m writing about t-shirts! Lol. The Social Media Venn Diagram tee comes in sizes S to 3XL for men and S to XL for women – price ranges from $19.95 – $21.95.

Too Big To Fail Tee

Too Big To Fail Tee by Despair Wear

There are a few of these Monopoly Card spoof tees on offer, this being my favourite from Despair. Essentially laying into the banks, bankers, and just about every greedy ****** who thinks that a goverment bail out means business as usual – and business as usual means massive bonus payouts everytime some jerk in an ivory tower lifts a finger. I predict the end of capitalism in the next decade, we just can’t afford the payments to keep it going. Anyway whilst money is still worth more than the paper it is printed on (just about) get the Too Big To Fail tee in sizes S to 3XL for men – price ranges from $19.95 – $21.95.

World of Dorkcraft

World of DorkCraft Tee by Despair Wear

Oh dear oh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear. I am sure there must be at least a few angry trolls, or imps, or dwarves or whatever they are reading this right now. Sorry people but this is a funny tee, I’ve known old friends to waste a year or two of their lives at Warcraft, if they’d actually killed a dragon or won a sword of magical powers I’d understand, but as they’re still just working in offices and a printers, in reality, with no special powers, I have to agree with them, time was rather wasted there. Warcraft is almost an incentive to do drugs, life can’t be that bad, not so bad we have to pretend it isn’t even happening. Still each to their own, just try and wean off the game by 30 (lol). The Dorkcraft tee is available in sizes S to 3XL for men – price ranges from $19.95 – $21.95.
