Made With Awesome – Original Slogan Tees

Made With Awesome - Original Slogan TeesSlogan tees. You know, you’ve seen them all, every single ‘dad joke’ out there has been printed on a t-shirt by now, whatever resembles a one-liner has probably made it on to a tee somewhere sometime. But a new brand at www.MadeWithAwesome.com have taken a new slant on the tradition of humour tees and have come up with a few funnies you most likely haven’t heard before. Let’s just say their humour is off the wall, strange to say the least, not so much all out weird as slightly demented with a knowing wink and a smirk on the side. MWA are well aware how awash the funny slogan t-shirt market is these days and you can tell, their concepts are both refreshingly original and surreal in their approach.

Evan Ferstenfeld and Roni Lagin the genuinely crazy (call a psychiatrist please) pair behind the label have deliberately taken this crowded niche head-on, which takes a great deal of courage and a wholesome dose of insanity to make it work, but, to be honest, they might just get away with it. It’s not that their jokes are the funniest in the world, I’m not rolling around the floor in hysterics here, but I can certainly feel a giggle or two rising, which is quite an achievement considering the fact I’ve seen 1000s of funny slogan t-shirts in my time writing for Buy Tees. What is most refreshing about MWA’s line of slogan and graphic tees (yes they have a few – I’d like to see far more), is that their designs leave you scratching your head, and wondering if the human race is really that dumb these days? Surrealism for the common man (and woman) is a succinct way of placing this brand’s ideology, if it’s weird, if it’s funny, and if it hasn’t been done before I’m sure Made With Awesome will give the idea a good going over. Ferstenfeld and Lagin (no they don’t run a law firm on the side) made their name(s) in the world of tees via the mighty Threadless network. Two of their winning tees there include Lagin’s A Very Naughty Bear and Ferstenfeld’s Food Fight are amongst a total 15 winners at both Threadless and their sister site TypeTees plus a prestigious 2007 Slogan Of The Year Bestee Award.

Their past successes should more than assure everyone but the most skeptic t-shirt fans out there that MWA mean business, let’s take a look at exactly what they’re up to right now.

Finally an original nerd tee, it’s been a while, you think there’d be more t-shirt nerds, or at least nerds who love to write slogans who’d be churning these out, they’ve obviously all moved on to bigger things like trying to fix the Large Hadron Collider or finding love online with someone who enjoys quantum Sudoku, collecting bar codes and long walks in the World of Warcraft. So praise be for Made With Awesome who have stepped into the breach and produced a fine specimen of nerd humour without having to incorporate a gamut of electronic gadgets to raise a flicker of interest from this selective market. I’m not too hot on my maths and so I will have to take MWA’s word that this formula is irrefutable, and if it is I can predict an army of nerds and geeks banging down their door for a I’ve Just Developed A Theory That Proves I’m Not A Nerd tee to boost their social status in the world. Funny, and a great choice of font – available in red sizes S to 2XL for men and S to XL for women at $18 each.

Mad, absolutely mad, but funny. If you’ve ever met a girl who’s into unicorns (or are one but are having a bad day) you should be completely relate to this tee. I’ve never understood the fascination with unicorns, although to be honest I’m not even a ‘horsey person’, I used to have a crush on a girl as a kid who rode ponies and painted her toenails red, but it never got anywhere. The minute I drummed up the confidence to leap over the gate and work my charms a horse stood on my foot, I groaned and shouted, waved my arms, but the horse just stayed there for ages, crushing my left big toe like a pistaschio nut in the grip of a gorilla. What’s more the floppy horned aberration in Blade Runner will always stick in my mind, unicorns kind of suck really. Pegasus is more like it, flying horses, great for getting to work but not so good for all those beneath you, we have enough trouble with seagull poo down here, god knows how much mess a flying horse could make. The I’ve Lost The Key To My Imagination. Now I Can’t Start My Unicorn tee is available in brown sizes S to 2XL for men and S to XL for women at $18 each.

I Haven’t Exaggerated In Like A Million Years Tee

A superb take on an old saying, it’s funny how many people exaggerate all the time, okay that might be a little bit of an exaggeration, but there are those who can’t help slip in an obviously ridiculous boast at any possible situation. In the UK you meet a lot of them at boot fairs, if you’re not British, don’t worry, it’s not a pagan festival venerating the god of footwear. Boot fairs are where people park up their cars in empty fields on rainy Sunday mornings and sell their rubbish at over inflated prices. The amount of BS I’ve heard at such events is near enough exponential, yes it’s an antique, that plastic chair was sat on by Winston Churchill, this radio picks up signals from Nasa, that cup and saucer saved my family’s life somehow (cue a long drawn story with plenty of pauses as the cretin works out the next chapter). Still we all need to exaggerate a little, if we didn’t no one would like anyone, honesty can be rather brutal sometimes, even boring. Love the retro Star Wars titles reference here, great concept, very well executed. The I Haven’t Exaggerated In Like A Million Years tee is available in brown sizes M to 2XL for men and S to XL for women at $18 each.

Lunch Break Tee

This has to be my fave tee at Made With Awesome. Of course it’s a graphic tee which I always prefer, but beyond that it’s a wonderful wry look at the tradition of Japanese monster movies. Hey everyone needs to take a break sometimes, and Lunch Break says it all. Tired of rampaging? Sick of levelling Tokyo to a chaotic disaster zone? Bored of fighting your mortal enemies until someone fires a death ray or yet another mutant rises from the sea and starts up the trouble all over again? Then have some noodles… Available in kelly green sizes M to 2XL for men and S to XL for women at $18 each.

If you want a t-shirt with that something extra, i.e Made With Awesome, then you know where to go ;)
