What A Card – New Funny Tees At Busted

Someecards T-Shirts at Busted TeesGot a friendly little email from Diana Chang at the snarky ecard site Someecards.com – and wouldn’t you know it they’ve started selling their designs as tees – makes sense to me. Anyway here’s where you’ll find their tees – http://www.bustedtees.com/someecards. Yep they’re at Busted Tees which is quite a coup, I guarantee that many of these t-shirts are going to sell out, not just because they’re genuinely funny in a faux-retro post modern sneering fashion, but also down to the fact their holding sale at the moment.

Usually on sale for $20 each you can get some of them now with a whopping 60% discount for a paltry $8 – the sale ranges from 15% up. Take a look at some of my personal faves for some idea of their humour wavelength – it’s vintage, dry as the Sahara, pithy as a week old lemon and as sarcastic as any celebrity gossip blogger.

Shitty Salary Tee

I grew up in a single parent family, my mum was/is a teacher, and my sister and I lived like paupers for years. Of course my damn sister got preferential treatment, then again mum did pay off my student debts so I can’t complain. Mum ended up as a the head of a remedial department, she does a great service for society, but in essence the government treats her and everyone like her like crap. In Britain nearly all the top jobs and positions of power are filled by a nepotist network of privately schooled idiots. As for our government, and especially the cabinet and PM, they nearly all went to Eton or somewhere just as expensive, then they all graduated at Oxford or Cambridge University, they all have silver spoons in their mouths (which explains the strange accent) and none of them were ever taught by a low paid teacher. Looks like the same applies to America judging by this t-shirt. Funny but painfully sad when you think about it. Get this tee for $16.99 for men and women.

Rock Stars Tee

Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear. It’s a shame, I was born in an age where all the kids wanted to be famous for doing something, now they just want to be famous for being famous. Actually they just want to pretend to be famous for being famous. There’s a great Southpark episode about the Guitar Hero craze, you know, that lame game that kids who will definitely grow up to live their lives playing air guitar can’t get enough of, still, at least it means the end of mainstream rock, which as far as I am concerned sucked throughout the Eighties and most of the Nineties. If you can’t play a Fender or a Gibson with your teeth, if your fingers don’t move at the speed of light, and if you can’t even make it whine like a miserable Radiohead lead guitarist, you may as well just carry on playing this game. Hilarious tee, available for men and women at $20.

Advertising Tee

I hate advertising, yes I do it when I need to, “hey read my blog, buy my art”, but I suppose the best I can describe it as is a hardly necessary evil. The fact is that the world is full of two sorts of people, those who do something, and those who tell other people that someone’s doing something. Advertising agents, PR people, marketing types and so on make up a vast bulk of that second type. They get everywhere these days, it doesn’t matter where you are in the world, you could be in the middle of the Sahara and get a spam text. Advertisers have even ruined Twitter now, there’s no escape, I’m even advertising right now. You can’t get away from it. I have to admit I almost joined the dark side in my early 20s, I was fresh out of art college with a head full of ideas and thought, “hey what if I worked my way into the system and tore it apart from the inside?” No chance, the advertising agencies who did interview me saw me coming a mile off, essentially they all labelled me as ‘too subversive’. Damn. I do love a bit of subversion, come the revolution I will probably find those very same interviewers on street corners of Oxford Street selling t-shirts celebrating the event. Of course until then I must comply, to the laws, regulations and general consumer pressure of modern society. So everyone, buy this t-shirt, it will improve your life, it will attract the opposite sex, it is cool honest. No honestly I love it, it reminds me of the final speech at the end scene of How To Get Ahead In Advertising starring Richard E. Grant when he was still talented. Available for men and women at $16.99.
