Eastern Promise At Fabrikade
Fabrikade.sg is a Singapore based online clothing store that draws upon the collective talents of a network of designers from Singapore and further afield, formed by a web collective of Jonathan Kong and a few friends bouncing ideas back and forth over a coffee at Vivocity, their belief that their was a vast niche in the t-shirt market was confirmed by the escalating popularity and success of their truly international store. Drawing upon the creative talents of home grown and global artists, designers and indie labels has helped to quickly build up a solid and unique label showcasing some of the best in t-shirt design from around the world.
There’s a friendly atmosphere at Fabrikade, the site is slick and easy to use, there’s a useful blog and they’re bang on Twitter with plenty of regular updates offering everything from advice on design to interesting t-shirt links to keep you interested from the word go. The Fabrikade ethos is to share and share alike, by helping one another artists and fans can help build a mutually beneficial community worth being a part of – especially if you like great tees! Of course Fabrikade offer a lot more besides, they are after all a fashion label and so if you’re tempted you may want to scout around their other categories for some top quality designer jewellery, iPod sleeves, polos and soft toys. However as you will have surely guessed by now we’re sticking with the t-shirts here at Buy Tees!
Beautiful Decay / Artist Series Aya Kato Snow White Tee

Aya Kato is demonstrably a master of the illustrated line, Snow White is one of a series of art tees made for the highly iconic and hybrid fashion/style/arts magazine/label Beautiful Decay and is available from Fabrikade for SGD$43 for guys (sizes medium and large). Fusing both Western and Eastern influences this printed extravaganza of mood, soul and curlicue splendour is definitely one for the all-time best on Buy Tees. The extraordinary confidence of Kato exudes through the superb composition, a good painting does more than lead your eye from the top left corner to the bottom right, it spins you around and around. Mystical, mythical and jam packed full of mirth.
Beautiful Decay / Swak Eat More Tee

One more BD tee, this time designed by SWAK and available at Fabrikade for SGD$43 (men medium and large sizes). Fabrikade certainly have some talent under their fold, SWAK is another accomplished designer with a few t-shirts under his belt now. Eat More is piled high with fascinating shapes and colours depicting an orgy of gluttony by the sort of customers no self-respecting restaurateur would want to serve. It reminds me of a recent news story about Barack Obama’s visit to a Denny’s, in all honesty I thought it was a joke at first, but no, after meeting a town full of obese hicks in stretch pants he’s come to the conclusion that there are more than a few problems at home to sort out before he sets his sights on loftier goals. So the ecology, world peace and an intergalactic federation of star cruisers powered by photon injectors and an extreme dose of goodwill will be put on hold for now.
Sweet Dreams Tee by Resist Today

This is a pure stunner, one for the girls Sweet Dreams is only available in a small size (15.5 inches chest x 23.375 inches length), but who knows they might have other sizes available later? Although I did buy some Calvin Klein undies from Hong Kong once via Ebay – big mistake – it seems that the seller’s idea of large and mine were on two different planes of thought – still I do appreciate the two-tier thinking in this design. Combining a medieval imagery within a mandala composition is somewhat close to a stroke of genius. The tonal quality is mesmerising, the colours entrancing, I think I need a kip, wake me up when the world looks as dreamy as this tee ;)
Skulls and Kittens Tee by Resist Today

I recently featured a ‘cute’ skull tee called Sweet Skull, but Skulls and Kittens must take the biscuit for mesmeric juxtaposition. A hilarious design by Resist Today that sticks two fingers up at the Grim Reaper by featuring a kitten playing with a human skull, you have to admit this t-shirt takes a leap into the unknown. Perhaps there’s a new niche on the horizon, deadly adorable, horribly pretty, pleasantly unpleasant, an audacious creation featured at Fabrikade, and dead on target for any girl out there who wants to give out all the right and all the wrong signals at the same time – lol. It’s a topsy turvy world out there, we all have our own belief systems, if anything, with the population rising ever more out of control and the value of human and indeed all life becoming cheaper every day, maybe it’s time to take the big D with a pinch of salt. Live life to the fullest, if you can, because who knows, you maybe run over by a bus tomorrow, catch a super virus, or be caught up in a flash flood because we’ve all (and let’s be honest now) made a right mess of this little planet of ours. Awe meets awww. Get your Skulls and Kittens tee for girls in small size only at SGD$40.
