Say No To Entrecard Paid Ads

Are you an Entrecard.com member? Their system used to be the all-time fairest free advertising network around, and then “the powers that be” decided to crowbar in an ineffective and unfair cash economy which has damaged many aspects of their service.

If you don’t buy ads with cash but drop ads and buy them with credits you’re working and spending twice as much as you were a short while ago.

If you don’t want paid ads you may find yourself rejecting them for at least 10 to 15 minutes a day.

If you click on an Entrecard ad you will for 50% of the time be rewarding those who pay cash for advertising whilst punishing those who have actually taken the time to visit blogs and drop on them.

Implementation of sponsor ads program Oct. 5

$50 tax will be enforced on all those who refuse to accept sponsor ads each and every year. Is this per user, per blog? This is an absolute betrayal of everyone who has worked to build up Entrecard.com to what it is today. I really doubt a button or badge is going to do much to prevent this, after the sale of the company everyone expected it to be an end to the era of greed. Not so. I am stumped. Read the arguments against here.

More Greg Matthews news:- following the recent Entrecard debacle where for a period of a few days the system offered blank advertising, failed to record drops and generally ****** everyone concerned off (without a single public apology mind you) Greg has been studying his own solution and will be ensuring that his database doesn’t suffer from the same problems. Essentially using a series of backup databases to ensure no records are lost – plus I am sure if he did he would apologise at the very least – unlike the Graham and his EC cronies who literally hid under their bed covers until (they hoped) the whole incident would be forgotten. Wrong move Graham Langdon! Good thinking Greg!

Greg Matthews is still working on his alternative version of Entrecard, due to his giving up smoking he has understandably been taking time away from the PC to avoid the temptation. However progress is still under way with a new widget now complete (no html version as yet) and a poll on the main focus for the new system. Show your support and take part in the poll here.

I have been informed by some of our badge supporters that certain blogs are using the badge without including a link back, apart from being selfish this is also stealing my bandwidth. The link is vital to generating support and I urge those who have omitted the link to this page to add it! I contribute to the cause by paying bandwidth for the badge and providing a list of the those who support our cause. This page provides extensive reasons for adding the badge. Seeing as I took the time to design it and provide bandwidth it would be nice to see those who don’t want to help anyone but themselves to at least write a blog post about the badge and include a link to this page? I have added a note to inform new users of exactly why we need their link back.

If you want to see who is accepting paid Entrecard ads immediately, browse their blog with Firefox using the Adblock Plus add-on. Any paid ad will show up as a blank square which is another reason not to pay for EC advertising!
