Do You Like The Taste Of Cotton? Cottonmouth.nl
Here’s a fascinating new label for the girls, a Netherlands fashion company called Cottonmouth have just released their first three limited edition t-shirts at their very very snazzy site Cottonmouth.nl. Founded by the original designers for another very popular Dutch tee label Sjeurt, they have expanded their horizons and ventured forth into the world of high female fashion, producing the best of the best quality tees for a discerningly artistic female market. Right now they have just three women’s t-shirts on offer but they’re well worth checking out, if only as a pointer for things to come. Expect stylish art shirts with an irreverent attitude to life, culture and style on the street. The store is available in Dutch and English and offers sweatshop free fashions (manufactured in USA and design, silkscreen printed tees and labels in the Netherlands), and all their orders are shipped in bio and recycled packaging, which is good to know.
Their first collection is entitled ‘MADemoiselle‘ and was inspired by the god of Pop Art Andy Warhol, yes I am a Warholian, a devotee of Andy’s work, (if you love Pop or Graffiti art, or any kind of contemporary graphic design you just can’t help it
. Using portraits of women and girls of different decades on girly shirts Cottonmouth’s MADemoiselle them includes a scorcher of a tee, I love their take on Double Dutch – superbly designed and printed on a long comfortable T-shirt that features a stylish deeper plunged neck. Their experimentation with colours and cuts extends to Kiss me Cottonmouth, a tunic-dress that also doubles as a shirt and Fabulous Cottonmouth – a stylish long sleeved tee. All of their shirts are limited to just 20 pieces so if you’re female and want to wow your friends and acquaintances or just a stranger or two on the street I’d advice you rush over there now!
You can either order a tee at www.cottonmouth.nl or visit their store ‘KiBoCo’ in Bussum, the Netherlands. Whilst you’re at the site make sure to read up on all their latest info available at the Cottonmouth Community and stay informed about all their latest developments and designs
In case you’re living somewhere other than Holland their shipping costs are as follows:- The Netherlands: free shipping, Europe: ‚Ǩ 4,00 and outside Europe: ‚Ǩ12,50 which isn’t all that bad, although it would be nice if they encouraged a bulk deal, say buy three tees and offer free global shipping. or am I asking too much? Well actually it’s my gf who’s asking lol. Anyway let’s take a closer look at the MADemoiselle collection:- read more
The (R)evolution of a Subspecies
This is hardcore, this is extreme fashion, this is where fashion, politics and the oncoming revolution collide. This is the name of the game for Subspecies, a Yorkshire (UK) born and bred street fashion label with a taste for subversion served with a healthy dose of anarchistic tendencies, making urban wear heralded by the skater and BMX community as some of the finest in their field. Expect superb quality t-shirts. All enzyme washed to give a comfortable feel when new and made of the finest 200gsm Gold cotton available. Colours have been selected for the urban/street market in earthy tones that ensure the graphics propel from the base colour of the tees. Their artwork is built up with flocks, raised embroidery and raised rubber welds. All their garments have a subspecies trademark ‘T’ bar cut & sew panel on the back, the inner yoke is a non feel printed jersey lining with felt flock monkey logo. The back neck tape is herringbone with a velour overlay for maximum comfort – sizes are available in xs-xxl.
Subspecies have a great attitude towards their work, and are a perfect example of artists using t-shirt design as a progressive arts medium. Their message is always powerful and to the point, without being mindlessly offensive they still manage to shock certain sectors of society with an air of confidence of a global label and are certainly heading for greater pastures as they’re soon to sponsor a whole ream of extreme sports teams and events. Be you B-boy, skater, BMXer, or general trouble-maker, you may not have realised until now, but you are a subspecies!
Subspecies.co.uk is a fully modded flash site/store (and a fascinating experience), so you’ll have to track down the embedded product links there yourself, make sure you sign up for their newsletter and be in with a chance to win a freebie or two, and whilst your at it do have a gander at the blog for all the latest info on Subspecies. Don’t forget to check out their caps in their “Lidz Collection” but for now let’s crack on with some of their finest tees and learn just how hard Subspecies can push their message to the core. read more

Papa’s Got A Brandneusense
Excuse the James Brown pun, I couldn’t resist it heh. Brandneusense is definitely one for the hardcore UK fashion lover, although they take international orders it’s a major coup for the Brits, why? Well first off half of the brands they sell are imports, so unless you want to tackle the strong dollar exchange, pay the shipping and a probably a little tax on top, take it from me, Brandneusense is the place to go.
Don’t think I’m saddling you with a bunch of square retailers either, the people behind the label love fashion to death, heck they even make it themselves, their own brand is as you can guess called Brandneusense, which stands up well against the competition on offer including some of the most popular t-shirt brands in the market such as Boxfresh, Dephect, House of the Gods, Joystick Junkies, Local Celebrity, and Religion as well as their own label of course.
BTW If you happen to be from somewhere other than Europe then don’t worry about extortionate shipping costs, Brandneusense have it covered. They offer worldwide shipping and offer an automatic 15% to all non-EU residents, it’s applied automatically when you enter your address at the checkout – smart thinking! They’re also always on the look out for new talent, so if you think you can make the grade and compete then contact them on +44 (0)845 618 5381 (local rates for UK) and have a chat!
More than shirts, they also have a wide range of apparel and accessories in stock, of course they deal with a whole range of clothing, but as usual, this is a t-shirt reviews blog so I’ll be focusing on what I love and know best, tees! read more

Chor Bazaar – 21st Century Indian Fashion
Chor Bazaar are a Brooklyn-based designer label with solid roots in India and they’re well on their way to dispelling the misconception that India has little to offer other than their traditions and religion, and I’ll tell you how…
No matter how open minded you may think yourself, the truth is the world (with no small contribution from the media) happen to apply cultural stereotypes to just about every country out there. For instance there are many Americans who have never travelled outside their own borders, or at least no further than Tijuana and yet they still appear to think that Britain still ride around on horses wearing bowler hats and pin stripe suits whilst drinking cups of tea from bone china cups. The same ethos applies to India, most Western designers (especially those in fashion) have been stuck with the same ideas since the 1960s, mandalas, multi-limbed and animal-headed deities, you know the score, the same old ideas rehashed ad-infinitum.
Chor Bazaar offer a selection of highly original t-shirts at their on-line store www.cbaz.com, that should at least raise a few eyebrows, perhaps there’s change in the air, following the success of the multi Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire, more and more people around the world have been drawn in by the radical cultural, sociological and technological changes now happening in India. Chor Bazaar are ready and set to capitalise on this new wave of enthusiasm for Indian identity and will push the Zeitgeist as far as they can, their first offerings certainly reflect their modern, contemporary and highly individualistic approach to fashion design.
All of Chor Bazaar’s graphics are designed and silk screened in their Brooklyn, workshop. Most of their t-shirts are fashion-fit, vintage soft, 100% ring-spun cotton. The team at CB include their designer Umang, in fact Chor Bazaar’s roots stem from his RISD architecture thesis which offered a redefinition of Hindu Architecture for first generation Indians in the United States. Yash, Umang’s brother is the businessman behind the company, they shared their father’s dream of promoting positive and relevant Indian culture in America, and could see immediately how the idea of an Indian-fusion t-shirt collection could do just that.
The future is here, the future is now, it stretches across continents from the USA to India and it’s filled with surprises, fusing cultures, styles and attitudes in a whole new way – read on to see just how different the real India is… read more
