New Season For Gfunk And Batz

Gfunk and Batz Football Shirts

Remember GFUNK&BATZ? We reviewed them a while back here, well anyway these football loving maniacs with a passion for the beautiful game hooked up with us recently to announce their continuing plans for world domination, and here are the latest results. First of all they’re building a highly devoted fan base at Facebook.com, so if you want to keep up with all the latest on their football-related fashion shenanigans then head on down to their Facebook Fan Page and hook up with the most savvy and fashion-concious football t-shirt designers you’ll ever hope to meet.

You’ll be able to chat with Gfunk and Batz about all their latest designs and even get a sneak preview on the latest offerings from their store. What’s more they’re now selling their top-notch tees at Soccer Fever in Richmond, Victoria, Australia. Let’s hope this is the start of something big for G&B, they’ve come a long way since we first reviewed them, their website is looking great and I really like their unique stance in the sports fashion market. Their basic attitude to design is this; if you love the game of football and want to show your allegiance, but still have an eye for great style and would rather stand out in a crowd for all the right reasons rather than be immediately clocked as a yob by the locals at the bar, club, or trendy hotspots around town, then Gfunk and Batz are the place to shop.

They take their unique inspiration from a wide variety of football teams and footage from around the world and throughout history, expect subtle references, even football art if you will, this is definitely not the place to by a Ronaldo shirt or the latest Man United kit, think retro, think global, think stylish, think Gfunk and Batz.

Super Eagles Nigerian Football Tee

Super Eagles Tee by Gfunk and Batz – you will really have to know your worldwide form to spot this one, it’s based on the extraordinarily entertaining Super Eagles national football team of Nigeria, pure design, bold, smart and nothing like you’d normally expect from a football tee. If I hadn’t read their blurb I’d have been convinced it was a German insignia, you learn something everyday!

Soviet Tee by GFUNK & BATZ

Soviet Tee by Gfunk and Batz – this is a highly nostalgic tribute nay testament to the former prowess of the USSR’s place in the history of world football. Sure they never won the World Cup, but the “Red Army” as they were well known by fans and foes alike did notch up some spectacular scores way back int the 1950’s (obviously when the funding from the Kremlin was still fuelled by a post-war propagandist tirade) including 11-1 against India in 1955 and 10-0 against Finland in 1957. I love the Russian typography, almost Dadaist in conception, and this design has definitely notched up points for vintage style!

Lil Juggler Tee at GFUNK & BATZ

Lil Juggler Tee by Gfunk and Batz – now if you’re after some truly eighties’ style retro graphics you can’t do better than this fantastic tee. This takes me way way back, and yes I’m old and ragged enough to remember when the only way you could get close to playing a console was down at the local chippie on a battered arcade game, down our way it was always Track and Field where you had to hammer the buttons to jump the hurdles and sprint, Pac Man, a gaudy maze of yellow balls and blue ghosts, and my personal fave at the time TRON. To be honest the footie games back then weren’t too popular over here, either you’d score by walking by the machine or you never scored, things have seriously improved since then though heh. I don’t normally like to see logos on a shirt but I ahve to make an exception for this one, the eighties font totally rocks.

Diego Tee at GFUNK & BATZ

Diego Tee by Gfunk and Batz -another tribute tee to perhaps one of the most controversial figures in this sport’s history, Diego Maradona was an Argentine legend in 80s footie until that fateful day his hand touched the ball, the incident is popularily referred to as “The Hand of God“. It all seems a little tame now but the referee’s ruling caused worldwide uproar (well at least in England) at the time. It resulted in a 2-1 win over England in the 1986 cup, with the Falklands War in 1982 it’s no surprise that this moment would go down in English history as an all-time low in football. Still, we’re all friends now aren’t we?

Check out all of Gfunk and Batz’s funky football tees at www.gfunkandbatz.com and to finish I think their slogan says it all – “Football Never Looked So Good”.
