Can You Love A T-Shirt Too Much?

Sometimes a t-shirt can be too good, it seems according a recent survey that 4 out of 5 Americans hold on to at least a couple of their favourite tees for donkey’s years. I’ll show you the graph soon in case you want to get technical, but rest assured, science aside, this is a well known fact.
I know from personal experience exactly what t-shirt obsession can mean, as do a lot of t-shirt bloggers, designers and fans in general, the funny thing I’ve noticed with myself and friends with a similar penchant for tees, is your fave shirts aren’t necessarily your best ones.
As one designer recently told me they’ve been wearing their old High School tee on and off for years, I used to wear a couple of rather corny Marvel Comics tees until they practically died on me, I remember in my late teens wearing a particularly groovy Indian t-shirt I picked up dirt cheap at a flea market so many times, that I had a mini-depression when it finally fell to pieces in the wash.
I’ve always wondered about the psychology of t-shirt obsession, not the usual kind, those who collect them by the hundreds, or those (like myself) who can’t help writing about them, but rather the strange attachment one can form towards one single tee. Perhaps it’s an associative effect, for instance, maybe you pick up a t-shirt the day you fall in love, or on a great holiday, or some other happy memory that subconsciously you attach to the t-shirt in question. read more
IWearYourShirt.com – Don’t Bother
I Wear Your Shirt? What a RIP!
I gave www.iwearyourshirt.com a plug a while back, I thought the idea sounded good, and wanted to promote my graffiti art but after using Jason Sadler’s service I am not impressed at all. Luckily I booked the service rather early and managed to get it for around the $50 mark (although I had to splash out on a t-shirt as well). After a lot of negotiations and a second reprint of the t-shirt as he refused to wear the first which features one of my more controversial works, he finally refunded me the costs of the first t-shirt and I sent another.
That was the first problem, he, or rather Evan White PR, who seems to be pulling all the strings over there, as in getting the site and service as much publicity as possible, raved about my art and how much they loved it. There was no mention of how they’d refuse to promote anything controversial, which in essence my artwork is, there’s no getting around that. In fact from the word go I’d have appreciated it if they’d just pulled out there and then and said, “hey, your graffiti art is too controversial, we’re not touching it!”. But no, they still urged me to send another t-shirt and then sit and wait a few months for the outcome. read more
iTouch Giveaway at Uneetee
Now, you may or may not have heard of Uneetee.com, think Threadless but more funky, anyway, I thought I’d pass on this opportunity to all you budding t-shirt entrepreneurs out there who’d like to make an extra buck or two. We’re not too hot on affiliate marketing here at Buy-Tees.net, we generally only blog for the love of tees, but we do know a lot of our readers are either t-shirt designers or fanatics and so this little gem of advice should stand a lot of you in good stead, if only to make a few extra bucks on the side (to buy even more t-shirts I dare say).
If you own a website or blog and know your readers would appreciate a discount or two like this one:-
Then hop on over to the affiliate application form here, or if you’re a member of Commission Junction you can simply login and search for “UneeTEE” and sign up to their program from there, either way get yourself some link and banner codes and slip a few of them into your blog or site and keep your fingers crossed, who knows you may qualify for a free iTouch – which is essentially Apple’s latest and fanciest schmanciest iPod incase you weren’t aware.
Here’s what UneeTEE have to say about the promotion:-
“Double your February’s referred sales to UneeTEE and win a brand new iTOUCH! Double the volume of sales you referred to UneeTEE in February during the month of March and get a chance to win a brand new Apple iTOUCH to help you relax after a hard month’s work. All you have to do is to give it a push throughout the month of March and once the number is doubled you have a chance to win a brand new Apple iTOUCH – on top of all those well deserved commission bucks! This promotion applies to all joined affiliates on all commission offers. The winner will be announced on or before April 10, 2009. Consolation Prizes would also be awarded. You need to refer at least 10 sales transactions this March to UneeTEE in order to be eligible for the raffle draw”
Now if you’ve never promoted the site before you’ll (only) need to hit 10 sales, if you can manage that you’ll be in for a healthy profit and a chance at winning an iTouch. Not bad eh?
If you don’t have a blog or site and would rather just save a few dollars at the checkout just click the banner above. In case you’re wondering, no Commission Junction don’t offer a referral program for their site, you can make a little cash from sales of their advertisers’ products but nothing from other affiliates – which isn’t the greatest deal in the world – still as I said – we leave the marketing to the experts and stick to what we’re good at, writing t-shirt reviews

Broaden Your Horizons With Casa di Culture
They say that travel broadens the mind, and Casa di Culture, a highly unique and stylish t-shirt and fashion company run anonymously by three jet-setting sisters, has a tendency to reflect that in everything they do. Besides t-shirt designing, making and selling ethically produced tees, (organically printed with non-toxic ink), they also produce scarves and create jewellery. Think Audrey Hepburn, a lightly packed luxurious travel bag, a sun setting on the horizon, and a wealth of exciting international cultures and you are half way there.
Each sister is based in a different part of the world, although I can imagine that wherever they lay their respective hats are their homes; soaking in the atmosphere and picking up ideas and styles from as far as Zimbabwe, Turkey, France, The Netherlands, South America, Japan, Germany, and the USA. These three fashionable siblings have created a glamorous site and store at Casa di Culture, to keep the world updated on all their adventures through the medium of fashion and is well worth a jaunt if only to soak up a little of their unique perspective on the world – and as I’m sure the girls would tell you themselves – nuestra casa es su casa. read more

Free Tee At Busted! As Long as You Live Nearby?

Hey, want a free t-shirt from BustedTees.com? You know, probably the funniest t-shirt company on the planet?
Good! All you have to do is complete one offer with TrialPay and you’re away! Well I say that but I’m based in the UK and it said the offer doesn’t apply to me?? Which essentially makes me think that the whole idea totally sucks!
Product Not Available for Your Country
The merchant product is not currently available in your country.
T-Shirt companies like Busted Tees should get their act together and decide if they want to promote to the world or not. I received the information about this offer in my inbox, they know I live in the UK and yet they waste my time with this. Still I suppose if you live in the USA or Canada it’s a great deal.

Don’t Be Jealous Of Envee’s Tees
They say that the grass is always greener on the other side, who knows, I only have a small decked terrace with a few potted plants, but I’m guessing the idea that you can always aim higher rings true with many of us. The idea of a better life, a greater existence, a final destination is a concurrent theme throughout Envee Apparel’s line of top quality designer t-shirts. I’ve just received a very enthusiastic email from Robert Hartland to take a look around their rather innovative fashion store and blog, and overall I’m impressed. I say overall because they are rather excessive in the logo department, something I’ve criticised many designers out there trying to make the grade, plus, and this can be easily remedied, the collection is a little scant on the ground right now. Bar those two rather minor criticisms I think the people at Envee maybe on to something, take a look at their “Destinations Collection” to see exactly what I am about to ramble on about.
Life can be full of surprises, it can take unexpected turns from one day to the next, some good, some not so good, some bad and some downright awful, but imagine, if you will for one moment, what happens after life? This is exactly the rather enormous question that Envee hopes to tackle with its unique line of tees for men and women. They have a very sharp attitude to design, the whole brand image has been well put together, from the design of the site to the shirts themselves, but don’t let the slick exterior of Envee fool you, these guys have their sights set on a whole other level, practically tackling the biggest question that any being on the planet will eventually face, and that is “what is the meaning of death?” as opposed to the more popular conundrum, “what is the meaning of life?”, which more than likely has an infinite choice of answers. Douglas Adams in his Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy novels states a simple mathematical equation resulting in the answer “42″, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey quotes the lyrics from a Poison track “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”, Monty Python’s Flying Circus takes a rather simpler route offering the idea that one should “Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.” But what about the meaning of death? Well in a word it is, as far as Envee are concerned, a “destination.” read more
Teextile – A New T-Shirt Community
Teextile.com is a brand new t-shirt community site created by Franco Galvez. Even though the site has just got started there is definitely an inrush of high quality designs at Teextile, which to be honest on average takes a lot longer than mere weeks to build up, but somehow Franco has managed to create exactly the right environment to encourage the brightest and the best to his little corner of the Net.
Perhaps it’s because Franco is a desigber himself, born in Peru but im now living in San Diego this 20 year old graphic design student and professional told Buy-Tees he “started the site because to be honest its an awesome job, I’m not one for office work, dont really see myself strapping on a tie every day and going to work in a cubicle for 9 hours…”. I asked him why he’d started Teextile, he agreed that “perhaps there are too many of these type of sites already (t-shirt design voting sites such as Threadless.com) but as he states “there are so many awesome designs out there which aren’t being printed” Franco knew that the world could do with one more – and by the looks of it he’s right!
As the old saying goes, the proof is in the pudding, and there are plenty of servings to go round at Teextile, some of the tastiest shirt designs you’ll see in a long while, so come on and tuck in, because you can never have too many great tees. read more
Cockney Empire Exclusive!
Forget Pearly Kings and Queens, forget about doing the Lambeth Walk, don’t walk, RUN! This is the heavy heavy style of THE COCKNEY EMPIRE! Oh my gawd it’s been a long time since I’ve got this excited about a post, if any t-shirt company out there is right up my street it has to be these guys. Sure I’m not a cockney born and bred, well not at all, but my father and his father were born within the sound of Bow Bells so I have a massive connection with the East End (London) culture, and Cockney Empire are about to take it to the dizzying heights of a whole new level in London style.
Okay, okay so the website isn’t ready, but I was totally chuffed when I received an email from Mike “Mauler” Crosby and Steve “Guvnor” James at Cockney Empire who said that my recent review of Chunk T-Shirts and the big mention I gave them has given them a major proverbial kick up the backside and made them realise they’ve got to pull their finger out and start rolling out the fashion and online presence big time. But don’t think CE have been sitting on their laurels, it’s all go go go since they’ve started their promotions at this years Margin streetwear fashion trade show in London and you know what, I expect big big BIG things for Cockney Empire! They’ve already got international streetwear buyers clambering for their gear, so I’m sure when I say, these guys are heading for the big league, you know it makes sense buster. For More information on Cockney Empire and its fantastic range, contact Steve James on (00) +44 0208 519 2500 or email steve@cockneyempire.com.
Just take a look at their insignia for starters, I mean “maybe you have to be a Londoner” (cue music) to really appreciate exactly how cool it is but mixing up Two-Tone style, football and death, well you just can’t get better than that in my opinion. To be fair their influences stretch far further than the East End including New York’s Rockabillies and the Biker gangs of San Francisco, but expect a little more edge, a little more twist in their style compared to the usual crowd. Such as original, edgy graphics and quirky detailing, with classic to lightweight distressed V-necks and Crews, all constructed in top quality fabrics and superb graphics for starters! Anyway let’s take a look at the amazing tees they are already knocking out. They’re set up as two halves, a design agency that creates stunning work for the likes of Joystick Junkies and Chunk (Mike Crosby is an Ex-Chunk senior designer BTW) and their own exclusive fashion label that offers NO licences, that’s right you’ll only be able to buy these from the Cockneys, so keep your eyes peeled and polish your knuckle dusters, it’s time for a fashion beating! read more
