ImaHotTee.com – Takes The High Road
Before I get started, two things to mention, firstly the hilarious video we’re featuring at Buy-Tees.net this week, it stars the man, the brain, the frenzy of activity that is Mike Martin, the creator of I’m A Hot Tee (ImaHotTee.com). For more of his hilarious t-shirt related videos take a jaunt down to Mike’s little corner of Youtube.com
Secondly it’s Mike, I’ve rarely enjoyed an email (or five) as much as I have Mike’s. An intelligent, funny and at times inspiring chap who, as far as I can tell is about to make it big in Hollywood if his agent can sell the script, but don’t tell him I’ve mentioned this, he will most likely deny it, he’s a modest guy and besides it’s all extremely hush-hush you know? Such are the ways of La La Land.
On to the label itself. Mike is a fan of Buy Tees, and seeing as he’s just launched his new t-shirt company, I’m a Hot Tee (www.imahottee.com), he thought we could set him off to a good stead (we’ll do our best!). The ethos behind I’m A Hot Tee is a simple, but dare I say it, righteous one. Yet again I’m breaking one of my golden rules, I have two pet hates as far as t-shirts go. ‘Slogan tees’ and ‘funny shirts’. However Mike’s mission to provide a genuine alternative to the old school stores offering the same vulgar, crude, and just generally insulting shirts out there, and his intelligent and highly amusing personality swayed me.
Avoiding clich√©d offensive shirts that I believe, most sane people, without a Meth habit, and not living in a trailer park, would most likely avoid. Let’s lay our cards on the table here, what kind of people can hold down a job and wear these expletive-loaded, hate everyone under the sun, bar brawler shirts anyway? Do they have a secret wardrobe? Perhaps there are special conventions for extremely bad taste t-shirt addicts. Do they sell well in the Summer, or is it just a Winter fancy to secrete beneath a thick sweater or two? Mike has a sound philosophy, he wants to sell t-shirts that everyone can wear, not teenagers who’ve decided they hate their parents and need to be forced out of the family nest in order to get some housing credits. I’m a Hot Tee’s slogan says it all – ‘Hot Tees You Can Take Home to Mom!‘
Furthermore Mike and his Fiance, who run IAHT are offering all you lovely tee people a chance to grab a little fame and cash yourselves! Check the video for more details if you want to know more, I’ll be featuring there first winning t-shirt in a while, you all know how I like to ramble on :p
In all honesty the collection is rather ’scant’ right now, hence Buy Tees will be holding back on a full review until IAHT have built their range up to a healthy number. However they already have a few interesting items on offer and so I thought it best to pull out all the stops on a rather fulsome news post.
My own personal favourite has to be their Hill Valley Hoverboard Champion tee.

In case you’re not familiar with this concept (where have you been?), its’ a spoof of the classic Christmas re-run movie (they usually show the whole trilogy back-to-back in the UK) Back To The Future. I’m not normally a fan of mainstream movies, (yes I’m a weirdo lefty film buff, check out ‘Old Boy‘ for one of my more recent, arty, but gruesome faves), but even I, the grouch of the century, has a soft spot for BTTF. Especially the star of the film, no not Michael J. Fox, but the technological beauty that is the hoverboard , I honestly thought they’d have invented this by now (come on Japan!). Note to self: too many parentheses.
IAHT also offer ‘The Hottee of the Month’, a unique feature to create a greater sense of solidarity and community at the site. They make a one-of-a-kind shirt – ‘The Travelling Hot Tee’ – that is given to a special customer every month, alongside a cash prize of $50 and a small video camera so they can record their adventures to upload to the site. Their first offering is EdBassmaster , YouTube’s most popular comedian. What’s more IAHT even donate a portion of the profits to their favourite charity ‘Operation Christmas Child‘, but are also planning to donate another small percentage to the local Little League Challenger Division – a baseball league for physically and mentally handicapped children.
Mumbles is my Homeboy refers to EdBassmaster, the most hilarious guy you’ll ever see online. He has a range of characters that will leave you rolling in the proverbial aisles, I’ve seen quite a few of his videos thanks to Mike’s tip, and Mumbles is essentially a hilarious cowboy hick character that can’t pronounce a single word to save his life. If you want to get a better idea of who Mumbles is take a look at the video Bartle Doo Prank Call.

Finally this one is iGroan which is you can save an extra $2 if you punch in ‘braaains’ in the coupon code box at the checkout. Yes it’s another Apple spoof but at least it’s a funny one…
