T-Shirts For The Blind and Sighted
October 27, 2008
David New of Blind-Art.com is unique in the world of t-shirt design, after losing his sight in 2001 from a rare eye disease he has become more tactile with his art and now seeks to share his art with the blind community as well as the sighted community. His first t-shirt on offer includes a special graphic which invokes a cryptic message as it’s written in Braille using a puff paint printing technique for tactile recognition. Only the wearer will know what the shirt says unless they let on.

This shirt says, “Touch Me” and comes in small, medium and large sizes. 50/50 cotton/Poly T-shirt in a fitted men’s style. The back of the shirt shows the artists web site. Shirts are $25 each. Make sure you specify, Size, QTY and an email address or phone number where we can reach you to complete the order. You can order the t-shirt by mailing him here.
R. David New has an impressive curriculum vitae, formerly studying art at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, Temple University’s Tyler School of Art, The University of the Arts, The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.
I’d be fascinated to know if there are any other blind t-shirt designers online, if you know of any please do drop me a line at submissions@buy-tees.net and I’l give them a mention.
