There’s a Revolution Going on Down at Ban T-Shirts
October 31, 2008
For those who think that politics is boring you’ve got another think coming, it’s your future, nay your destiny; it’s the only way that we the people will ever be able to have a say in our collective lives, and seeing how much of Western political dogma has leant towards the far-right over the past decade or two, you have to make a protest where you can. Because, and keep this between you and me, if you rub the government up the wrong you can and expect at least a four year police operation on your back checking your every move and utterance.
For all the freedom that technology has brought us you have to admit that there have been some massive downsides to our information revolution, including the slow coaches in government catching on to ‘this thing called the Internet’. Essentially CCTV Britain doesn’t let you sneeze without recording it on some secret database or other, and i won’t even start on America, however let’s just say if you mention Iraq or terrorism in a phone call then you’re on their hot list, besides the fact that I very much doubt any of us are about to lay waste to civilisation, the alternative is a barcoded subsistence of mutual fear and conformity.
Now if you’re still with me and are at this very moment fidgeting as you wait for a less ethereal revolution to come your way, you might want to check out the offerings at BanT-Shirts.com, a site that provides a chink of light, a hope of fashionable resistance against the underwhelming moral minority that have little to look forward to except a turnaround in the world economy and their graves.
If you’re not a faceless follower of the mainstream media, and you want to shake up your community with a pithy yet pertinent message, then Ban T-Shirts organic cotton t-shirts have a collection that could help you on your way to becoming a socially acceptable political agitator. Ban T-Shirts offer a range of superb selection of printed on the finest brands of American made sweat shop free T-shirts including American Apparel; Royal Apparel and Organic Apparel. Read more
Bonèr Clothing - Sexy If You’re Crazy
October 29, 2008
Bonèr Clothing are a sweet little label with a cool range of endearing if not slightly strange tees that should tickle your fancy (if your fancy is on the bizarre side, or most likely the dark side of the moon of Bizarro World). But I’m in, I love mad, the condition not the magazine. Besides I am mad for a start, I love weird films, and crazy art, and crazy people as long as they don’t have a wardrobe of strait-jackets and protest for their rights through the art of defecation.
To the tees, does Bonèr give me a boner? Well no, to be honest I don’t get sexually aroused by clothes, I know there are most probably some guys out there right now somewhere in the world begging their girlfriends to wear that cheap set of nylon stockings and suspenders they’ve just bought at the local adult store, or maybe worse. Maybe they’ve decided to wear the get up themselves, either way I’m not that way inclined. But still, it’s funny and I like funny, funny ha ha that is.
If you’re worried that BC is trying to compete with the whole bad taste sexually insulting market you’ve come to expect from more infamous sites like T-Shirt Hell you’ll be relieved to find out you’re mistaken. Read more
I Am The Trend - An Indie Designer’s Mecca
October 29, 2008
If you’re in the business of creating t-shirts, fashion, or in fact anything creative including art, music, you name it I Am The Trend will feature you! I’ve just had a quick trawl of this great new resource for creative types of all kinds and I officially give it a big thumbs up. We all know how difficult it is as a designer, musician, or artist getting your works out there.
Most of the net and that most certainly includes Google focus on massive corporations, many of whom own enormous networks of all types of websites selling every piece of junk you can imagine. It’s vital that the Internet consumer is offered an easily accessible alternative, where they can not only find and purchase truly unique items, well designed by artists who understand their public and culture in general, and iamthetrend.com most definitely offers a positive contribution to the cause. Take Your Medicine It’s Good For You - Medicated Clothing T-Shirts
October 29, 2008
Jamie Marshall, an established illustrator and t-shirt designer has just released her latest philosophically cynical design for the world’s perusal - The Choice Was Not Hard is currently available at the incredibly popular Shirt.Woot.com t-shirt community and store.

If TCWSH tickles your fancy you can pick it up at http://shirt.woot.com/friends.aspx?k=6415 but hurry it’s only on sale for a few weeks and her die hard fans are snapping them up as we speak! So what is ‘The choice Was Not Hard’ about? Well it seems pretty self-evident to me, we all have to make choices in our lives, some of them good, some of them bad, for the most part (if we’re really being honest here) most human beings opt for immediate amusement, satisfaction, titillation or plain old convenience. A Rendezvous With The Affair
October 27, 2008
Back in 2007, somewhere amidst the grimy boozers and back alleys of London’s East End, began a secret exchange of ideas and broken dreams, a contract of substance over style, a pact was made between Zoltan Csaki and Dave Black. Two intellectual fashion renegades, who vowed to change the face of street wear forever, they made a promise to themselves and the neglected savoir-faire of the urban wear industry that things must change, and thus The-Affair was born. An artistic partnership that has gone from strength to strength, as each new design is release under a cloud of mysterious expectancy, raw talent and shameless egotistic aspirations bucked the trend and defied logic, creating what maybe one of the most intellectually inspiring collections I’ve ever come across.
Inspired by a plethora of influence, deep within the left-field of political and social unrest, classic style and edgy post-modern whim collide in a spectacle of high-brow t-shirts that punch and kick our complacent C21st society below the cerebral belt. Delving deeper than the usual gamut of pop reference, into the nether regions of lost kudos, salvaging the best of the worst in life, turning diatribe on its head, formulating without a formula a series of head-turning, head-scratching t-shirts designed to shock and inspire in equal measure.
Each shirt is made as a limited edition run of 200, screen printed on succulently soft American Apparel tees for a luxurious and stylish cut to suit the most discernible of t-shirt aficionados, veritably the thinking man’s t-shirt designer. Read more
Wear A Shirt To That All Important Interview
October 27, 2008
I suck at interviews. The only really important one I’ve ever had (except a few to get in to art college yonks back) was for Campaign Magazine, it was way back when I though I could possibly stand working for someone else, 9 to 5 as Dolly used to squawk. However it was all down hill after they gave me the job. the truth is I had the strangest experience at the group interview stage, yes there are a few companies who still bother doing that, don’t ask me why, perhaps they are looking for natural born leaders. If the Haymarket Group which owns Campaign Magazine thought I was a leader then they were profoundly mistaken. All I’ve ever managed to do is lead people up the garden path, metaphorically speaking that is. I don’t mean I grab strangers and walk them up and down the back of my house (which is only a very small patch of decking anyway), that would be too weird, even for me. Read more
Time Travelling T-Shirt
October 27, 2008
Yes I’m not the greatest fan of slogan tees…
but come on, if you are going to buy a slogan t-shirt, at least make sure it’s so whacked out and beyond the pale that even the freakiest trendsetters out there will stop, stare and drop their jaws in reluctant respect.
If you’re so far ahead of the latest trends and fashions that either: Read more
Geek Love T-Shirt
October 27, 2008
Now I know what you’re thinking, if geeks fall in love they may copulate and before you know it they’ll be breeding like mechanical rabbits, and then the world will be filled with geeks and anyone who isn’t up to scratch on their math and programming skills will probably be culled in some sci-fi style mass execution à la Carousel from Logan’s Run.
Then again you’d have to be a little bit of a geek (and an old one) to think that anyway. It’s probably all to do with obsessive logical progression, i.e what if this, that and the other, and so on and so on. I’m sure most people would fall asleep halfway through that particular conspiracy theory anyway. Still let’s throw caution to the wind and celebrate geek love with a geek love poem t-shirt from the undisputed kings of geek t-shirt design ThinkGeek.com - the same people who brought you everything from Electronic Drum Kit and WI-FI Detector Tees to Graphic Equaliser Shirts. T-Shirts For The Blind and Sighted
October 27, 2008
David New of Blind-Art.com is unique in the world of t-shirt design, after losing his sight in 2001 from a rare eye disease he has become more tactile with his art and now seeks to share his art with the blind community as well as the sighted community. His first t-shirt on offer includes a special graphic which invokes a cryptic message as it’s written in Braille using a puff paint printing technique for tactile recognition. Only the wearer will know what the shirt says unless they let on. Read more
T-Shirt Scammer
October 25, 2008
If you receive an email written in BOLD CAPITALS from Nigeria without any proper contact details you should most likely throw it in the trash. Take a look at this latest example of the dodgier side of the t-shirt industry. As I’ve mentioned before in this recent post if you’re running an independent t-shirt store and you happen to find your inbox filled with the following kind of urgent requests for stock ignore it, it’s just the latest scam, to be filed in your never to be read again trash, along with all those offers of a percentage of millions of dollars from Nigeria and other regions that need you to place their incredible valuable cheque in your bank account (for a small fee) before their king, president, or oil tycoon is shot by rebel forces.
