DrawLimited.com Need Your Doodles!
September 25, 2008
Sarah Roberts from Draw Limited wants Buy Tees to give a shout out to all aspiring t-shirt designers who fancy seeing their best doodles featured as DL’s next range of t-shirts. They’ve already been featured at Iloveyourshirt.com so there’s little for me to say here (should have come to Buy Tees first!) - however here’s Sarah’s blurb for all those who want to join in the fun.
Quote:- “Basically, we sell limited graphic tees. each tee is created by our customers, that is our customers send in their doodles and sketches of things that we ask them to send in (our theme for the next line) and then we create tees with them. Now not all get to become tees, which is why on our website we also have an art gallery which showcases all the art we received for the current theme.

Right now we have just released our first line, which the theme is “Monsters Are Real“. We will be releasing two more monster/Halloween shirts here soon and will also be releasing the next lines theme as well so we can start receiving doodles.
Not everyone thinks they’re an artist but we believe everyone is, because everyone doodles. Whether you’re bored or just trying to pass the time, people do it. Some people however wouldn’t consider themselves so because of the notion you have to have had tons of art training and such to be able to be good at it.

We see other stores who accept user submitted artwork for their shirts, but we’re different because we don’t discriminate against those who aren’t graphic designers or illustrators.
We don’t want to be mass produced, we don’t want to be suddenly famous… because we want to be around for many many many years to come.”

To submit your doodles click here. You’ll be glad to know that DL donate a healthy portion of their profits towards the promotion and development of the arts in public schools. However they don’t seem to have sorted out a system of payments for their artists, I expect that will be fixed soon (early days). You can see all of their September submissions here.
Addendum: Sarah adds “We do accept submissions to our themes but currently don’t make enough to be able to donate to art schools. However it is a goal of ours once the ball gets rolling on our business. And also we just want to make it clear that people who do submit artwork aren’t getting compensated for it, lol…that submitting artwork will mean that say we give a certain amount in a pile to be saved to later be donated to art schools.”.
