Toolbar woes for all… Conduit.com Sucks!
September 30, 2008
Ah well I think I have to admit when an experiment goes fatally wrong, and this seems to be one of the greatest flops for quite a while. I’ve had all sorts of complaints regarding technical issues, and however grand the idea I have to admit defeat when it’s staring me in the face.
The main problem is that the service is provided by Conduit.com, their site is filled with assurances and promises regarding the customisation and security of their software but perhaps I let my guard drop too soon, there’s just no such thing as a free lunch. If anyone with a love of t-shirts and a bit of technical savvy wants to take control of the project, feel free to contact me and I’ll pass on the administration login details.
The truth is the toolbar needs to be built from scratch. Apart from the criticisms at MilitantGeek.com, which there are many, I received this today from Kamil at Cameesa, and to be honest this must be the final nail in the coffin for a short lived experiment gone awry. Read more
Halloween With Scarily Low Prices At SpreadShirt!
September 30, 2008
Yes it’s that time of year again, Halloween, with Trick or Treaters knocking on your door, carved our pumpkins, and other festive accoutrements, it doesn’t really happen anywhere else bar the USA, in fact I can’t remember a time when my family did anything for the occasion. Then again, I am British, I’m a stoic cynic, and if it wasn’t for the pressure from family members I doubt I’d even mail out Mother’s Day or Father’s Day cards, and even Valentine’s Day feels more like a Hallmark Card moment than a romantic/religious tradition.
Let’s face it, Coca Cola invented the Christmas we know today, and if it wasn’t for the corporate confectioners out there, I doubt that even Easter would be celebrated these days. What do chocolate eggs have to do with the resurrection of Christ? I’m sure there’s an explanation out there, I just doubt many sweet shop owners know the answer.
Anyway, Spreadshirt are offering up their latest themed sale, The Halloween Sale, obviously…

You can get a whopping 20% off any t-shirt design from the 1st to the 31st of October. I’m not sure if you actually have to plunge for a witch, or a pumpkin, or something relevant, in fact I’m also certain they’d let you design anything as long as you fork up the cash. Spreadshirt is a business after all, not the Halloween police. So, if you’re feeling creative, get down to Spreadshirt and upload your favourite designs now!
Cameesa.com - Crowdfunding Fashion.
September 29, 2008
Here’s a new crowdsourcing t-shirt site to add to the fold (the more the better) called Cameesa.com - however there seems to be one distinct advantage for Cameesa supporters (aka customers) compared to other grander operations like Threadless and DesignByHumans and that’s the fact that they actually reward them for their efforts.
Essentially for the first time fans and artists can be in business together. Each artist issues 50 ‘parts’ (shares) per design, parts cost $20 each which totals $1000 per t-shirt. Together, the artist’s supporters have to raise $1,000 to get the design of their choice fully supported. Each part earns the supporter 3 cents per sale, and each supporter receives a free limited edition t-shirt as part of the package.
The artist earns $500 for each fully-supported design, plus a free t-shirt and a whopping $2 per sale to top it off. Read more

Tripping out at Psywear.com
September 28, 2008
Now, I am one of those old geezers who’s done everything under the sun and lived to tell the tale. Let’s just say I have had my fair share of intoxicants and intoxicated experiences, and some wonderful memories for the knapsack that is my brain, I’m sure I’ll suffer for it in later life (but who really wants to live an aeon in these troubled times?). Still, something more concrete I can look back on (as in not mere imagination or delusion) are my tattered old tees that even if they were in a wearable state, I’d dare not wear now. Smoking Buddhas, psychedelic vortices, groovy, weird, and rather overpowering designs related to all aspects of past and buried trends, scenes, happenings, what have you. But if i could get away with it I would, which is why I’m tripping on nostalgia when I look at the fractal chaos that is Psywear’s t-shirt collection. Read more
New!! The T-Shirt Toolbar!
September 27, 2008
Okay you’ve probably seen every browser addon under the sun and found most of them of little use (to say the least), however, seeing as you’re reading a t-shirt reviews blog, I’m guessing this maybe something you’d want to pimp up your Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Essentially I’ve put together a rather comprehensive t-shirt toolbar that includes plenty of interesting and related t-shirt links to satisfy your hunger for more t-shirt news and views. There are one-click links to all the major t-shirt review blogs, tons of t-shirt site newsfeeds, t-shirt resources, a chat room, and more!
Take a look for yourself, the browser addon is free, easy to install and will be constantly updated with more content as and when we can pull the community together and build up interest.
Call it a beta if you will :/

T-Shirt Designers - Clean up your act with FairWear!
September 25, 2008
In case you are a t-shirt designer, run a t-shirt store or label, or indeed create or sell any kind of clothing, you might be interested in the Fairwear Foundation who focus on ensuring that the garment industry finally cleans up its act and directly influences the rights of workers for all their suppliers and manufacturers. If you regularly order t-shirts from international suppliers and manufacturers it maybe worth reading on and seeing what pressure you can apply!
Since the late 90’s The Netherlands have been campaigning for ‘clean clothes’, i.e clothing created ethically and with fair workers’ rights no matter the source. FWF regularly inspect source suppliers across the world, including human rights’ hotspots such as India, Indonesia and Romania.
DrawLimited.com Need Your Doodles!
September 25, 2008
Sarah Roberts from Draw Limited wants Buy Tees to give a shout out to all aspiring t-shirt designers who fancy seeing their best doodles featured as DL’s next range of t-shirts. They’ve already been featured at Iloveyourshirt.com so there’s little for me to say here (should have come to Buy Tees first!) - however here’s Sarah’s blurb for all those who want to join in the fun. SeatShirt - T-Shirts Off The Rail
September 23, 2008
This is most certainly a new one on me, SeatShirt.eu offer designs from the seats from trains, buses and trams to your t-shirt! I’ve always been fascinated by the miserable failure of public transport textile design. Though personally as a Brit, seeing those infamously awful yet familiar tartan patterns of the old ’slammer’ trains replaced by plain and rather unnoticeable corporate patterns over recent years has been subconsciously disconcerting. I think I had grown to love the sad municipality of British design history without really knowing it, the home-made affair of ‘keen workers with an eye’ being given a chance (under union rules no doubt) to express their artistic bent in some small fashion.
Nowadays transport textiles are probably designed by corporate design groups armed with a team of hotshot psychologists and market researchers, however I can’t imagine what their remit would be? Something that doesn’t looked stained, even if it is, be it sweat, urine, alcohol, greasy takeaways or newspaper print. I’m not sure how often train seat covers are cleaned, but seeing as they’re stapled to the bench I doubt it’s very often. Read more
New Ironic T-Shirts From Monsieur Steve
September 23, 2008
Now… if you don’t have an ironic bone in your body you’ll probably find the sentiments of at least one (if not all) of Monsieur Steve’s t-shirts offensive on many cross-cultural levels, however I’m not the guy to complain to, I’m just the messenger remember. Any complaints should be directed to MonsieurSteve.com…
I’ll start with the worst offender, and although Steve is aiming for perhaps one of the most ironic t-shirts ever made, I somehow doubt the message will come across as such (preparing for WW3 as we speak). I’m guessing that Steve is doing this for all the right reasons (but not necessarily in the right way), seeing as he’s offering a discount to both Muslims and Jews. However, I won’t be making any critical references for any of these t-shirts, because I know I’ll be drawn into the political quagmire that is cultural division and diversity. Read more
