SpreadShirt Blues…

May 9, 2008

Wow! I never realized how difficult it would be transferring my designs from DTG to Flock print. Basically it has meant slapping thick borders over all my work, I had read the advice,

2mm or 1.5mm borders?

i.e 1.5mm border around every single vector object but now they’re telling me this about my first screen-print submission..

“The different colours within your design are too close together. The positioning of two different colour foils can cause a shift of up to 2.0mm.

I’ve contacted their European support - fingers crossed their German email address will reply in English!

I had submitted one of my most popular designs to both USA and EU sites, so I’m expecting another rejection email soon, oh woe is me. I’ll keep you informed with all the details of my trials and tribulations at trying to get a vector design accepted! My advice so far is ignore any of the support literature they offer as all of it is obviously out of date or incorrect! Tell me people, 1.5 mm or 2 mm, what has been your experience?

Off to redraw “Ninjas” again!

You can still buy DTG versions of the Ninjas T-Shirt at RedBubble.com and CafePress.com (from just $9.99) in case you just can’t wait!

    Yes thanks!

I did receive some more information. Seems that the “real minimum limit” is actually 2mm! This is due to the difference between Flex and Flock printing processes. Essentially both need to be cut out by hand, however SpreadShirt.net is more stringent than SpreadShirt.com.

I will post the full and highly helpful information I received once I have managed to get my first submission at Spreadshirt accepted at both sites! Btw I did give you guys a positive review and thanks for the 3 Euro discount voucher - do you know if this is a transferable code - I was thinking of giving it to my first buyer of the Ninjas T-Shirt?

    Cheers jdi

Yea, these vouchers are transferable. So feel free to give it to your customer. However each code can only be used once, so the customer should not enter it and then leave the ordering process. In that case the voucher would need to be refreshed.

    cheers,
    jörg.
