Branded T-Shirts Suck
May 12, 2008
I’ve said it before and will probably say countless times more before I’m done, don’t buy branded t-shirts, don’t advertise the company that has taken your rather than vice-versa. The whole of history is on my side, take “Back to The Future“, the moment where Micheal J. Fox’s character “Marty McFly” has to clear up the confusion about his name.
“Marty McFly: Calvin? Wh… Why do you keep calling me Calvin?
Lorraine Baines: Well, that is your name, isn’t it? Calvin Klein? It’s written all over your underwear.”
Historically uniforms are for war, not entertainment, and rarely for the purposes of fashion. Read more
Graphic Equalizer T Shirt - Beautifully Tacky!
May 12, 2008
It’s amazing isn’t it? Perhaps just amazingly awful. I’m not usually one for gadgets, read my rant on water-cooled t-shirts! Besides it doesn’t look like it’ll be long before everyone starts selling advertising space on their chest, they’ll probably even be able to detect impressions and clicks and BlueTooth it to the nearest available stockist. BBC’s Blood sweat and T-Shirts
May 12, 2008
It is true I am a self-confessed t-shirt designer, I admit it, I do design tees, I don’t make them, I don’t print them, but if I did I would be calling as many fair trade operators as I could find.
So what’s the big idea Paul? I suppose it began with the ordeal of watching the recent BBC series “Blood, Sweat and T-shirts“. Not the ordeal of watching a Third World country slowly climb into it’s rightful place in the Second World and perhaps before long The First World (do any of these glib Western references still apply to the current world economy?). No, my problem was having to sit through the sulks, fits and tantrums of the spoiled British student types shrugging their collective shoulders and sneering their top lips in uniform fashion every five minutes. The smell! The dirt! The noise! There are no toilets and there’s no coffee machine, and all the sewing machines are powered by a gas guzzling home-made generator that really must cost an absolute fortune to run these days. You know, oil crisis, world economic depression, Middle East conflict, China’s expansion, and so on… Read more
How to make a T-Shirt Dress
May 10, 2008
I’ve seen a few t-shirt dresses on-line and have been really impressed with their construction - I think it may be the future for higher-priced women’s t-shirt wear - if you can get your designs right. Here’s are two of my fave designs - I can’t stitch to save my life - however I would be very interested in working with a t-shirt dress designer.

Judge Condones Anti-Gay T-Shirt
May 9, 2008
The final appeal for a Neuqua Valley High School student (and anti-gay protester) who wants to express his sentiments on homosexuality by wearing a “Be Happy, Not Gay” T-shirt to class has won his case on second appeal. If it was anti faith, creed, colour, or depicted a celebrity (without a license) he’d be forking out on the court fees right now. Read more
Darfur T-Shirt Versus Louis Vuitton
May 9, 2008
Have you heard of Nadia Plesner? She is running a near one-woman campaign to raise awareness and charitable contributions for the Darfur situation. She’s an art student, she’s 26, and she doesn’t have the legal clout that a worldwide fashion brand can afford. The point is Nadia is selling her t-shirts at no profit, all of the money she receives goes towards helping the people of Darfur. Yet Louis Vuitton don’t see it like that
Deep down I’m sure it’s more likely the potential damage to their branding their fretting about, the whole idea of the design is to focus our attention on the fripperies of modern life, the stark comparison between getting anything you want and dying for lack of what you need. Read more
A cool shirt - in fact its freezing…
May 9, 2008
A lot of words are bandied about these days, like genius for instance, I’m that old I remember when people were a ‘wizard’ at something or other, always something complicated mind you. However this must be about the most accurate description in the history of cool shirts.. Read more
I spoke too soon - SpreadShirt.com comes through!
May 9, 2008
Continuing on the Spread Shirt Saga from my previous post “SpreadShirt Blues” - we delve deeper into the mysteries of their vector design submission process. I’ll collate some of the information I’ve had and write an article on submitting to Spread Shirt in the very near future. For now I must work out the vagaries and mysteries of the European arm of Spread shirt. It seems they are working to completely different rules. How would I know? Read more
SpreadShirt Blues…

Wow! I never realized how difficult it would be transferring my designs from DTG to Flock print. Basically it has meant slapping thick borders over all my work, I had read the advice, Read more
